407 When shoulders meet, so does an inevitable enemy

The potions didn’t seem to be overpriced because the students bought in bulk instead of individually. Furthermore, most of the customers were first-year students.

Ironically, the first-year students probably feared the prices could increase if others decided to use potions for the test. On the other hand, the students from the second to fifth years probably feared the new students would empty the shop before the team ranking battles began. Everyone began to feel the fear of missing out.

Kazumi was interested in seeing if there were different potions available. She also was curious about their prices. However, there were too many people, and it was chaotic to approach as the students were buying as if the potions were going to be out of stock soon.

Lilith was already looking anxiously at Vincent after noticing how he became interested in checking the store’s potions. She tugged his hand and asked to visit another time if possible.

Vincent agreed to go another time, yet Kazumi proposed a way to satisfy her curiosity. The plan was for Vincent and Lilith to wait for at least ten minutes while she looked at what was inside.

Vincent bearly said the letter y of yes for Kazumi to leave his body and take a look with the perk of being invisible.

*Sigh* “Kazumi went to check the prices. We need to wait for her now. At least the summer is almost at its end, and the temperature is changing for the fall to arrive.” Vincent looked at Lilith to have something to talk about and asked, “Does it snow in winter?”

“Yes, it does, but the books say how the Selos kingdom’s territory is the coldest while the neighbor Lusterfall kingdom territory doesn’t suffer from blizzards, and it snows about half of every week or less. On the other hand, it hardly snows in the Berlucia Kingdom’s territory since it is the farthest from the western continent.”

Lilith answered in detail. Not only was her nervousness washed away, but a smile appeared on her face when she noticed Vincent was interested in what she had to say. Her book nerd personality became more apparent when she talked about what she read.

.....

“I can only know these things from books or the tutors I used to have while growing up. I sometimes went out with my parents to visit the small village our family used to manage, but those were the only times I left the city. The village is about a week’s distance ride on a carriage to the city’s east.” Lilith smiled warmly and continued with a light blush on her cheeks, “Most of what I know about the world is from books. Would you believe me when I admit that I was excited to hear how we would travel to Okan Village together as a family?”

“I was so happy that I forgot the most important thing. Hehe.” Lilith stopped to chuckle at her past self. She returned her gaze on Vincent and continued, “I forgot we were where going to fight a dangerous magical beast.”

“I am glad you don’t hate me for placing my family in unnecessary danger.” Vincent felt glad Lilith spoke to him with honesty. The good mood was changing, and Vincent didn’t want to continue talking on this sad subject about her past, so he stopped talking.

Vincent wanted to ask what happened to the village under their family name. But based on what happened to the Lionheart family thus far, it was easy to assume the Blackheart family now owns the village.

“The book I read also mentioned how the Selos kingdom is the coldest while Belrucia kingdom is the warmest out of the three largest kingdoms on the southern continent.” Lilith raised her hand and extended three fingers. “The mountains, few alps, and the frost wyverns nesting every summer on the highest peaks make the Selos Kingdom the coldest place on the southern continent.”

“I think I might have seen the silhouette of one.” Vincent wasn’t sure if it was a bird in the distance, but one thing was for certain, the more he traveled Aero Forest, the warmer the temperature gradually became.

“Really? I would love to see one... ” Lilith paused for a moment and continued after realizing how dangerous it would be, “F-from a distance, of course.”

*Cough* “Frost wyverns live on the western continent, also referred to as the elven lands or the ice lands. Because elven people are spiritual people, they believe the wyverns, which are the closest to dragons, will help their spirits ascend to dragon heaven. The elves live in harmony with the frost wyverns.”

Lilith fixed her glasses and continued saying enthusiastically, “It is written how elves spend days praying in front of a sacred mountain to attract the attention of wyverns and from a familiar bond. Both reputation and prosperity to their family are acquired this way.”
While Lilith talked about elves and what she read from books, her elven teammate flashed in her thoughts. Her smile dropped, and a frown appeared on her face.

“Jun Ye Rim’s class uses a part of the soul to create a soul servant, as it says in books. Because others of her race would mock her, Jun Ye Rim probably wants to gain a nobility status in the human kingdom and maybe try for a good ending.” Lilith hoped the sad loner elf that doesn’t seek help could one day find her knight in shining armor and have a good ending in her story.

[I returned. Did I miss something? Why does Lilith look sad?]

-We were talking about Jun Ye Rim and how Lilith hopes she can have a good ending.-

[Ahh... ok...]

[Well, there were only potions in the wagon and that woman. But I felt strange vibes from her. She kept calling the students honey, darling, and sweety. She even winked at the students sometimes. It made me feel she was...]

[Ahem. As for the potions, they are only worth buying at higher grades. The prices start from one silver coin each for the stat boost potions, and the other two potions start from three silver coins each.]

[However, let’s say you want a boost of ten strength. You need to drink ten small bottles of potions. And what if you drink agility and perception potions as well? What about if you add some recovery potions to the mix too?]

-I would become a bloated punching bag that might feel the need to puke on every step.-

[Excatly.]

“Kazumi returned. How about we continue our date?” Vincent said.

Lilith nodded and held his hand again. “Let’s continue on our date, hehe.” Lilith chuckled and spoke with a cheery tone. Having someone to talk to about books made her happy.

The two of them continued walking on the coin road hand in hand. While a couple of students looked at them, Lilith took this opportunity with her moral high to peek at the students looking at them. The coin road became the road to fight her fears.

Stand after the other enter the sight made Vincent understand how he needed money and use his haggling skills to buy something at a reasonable price on the coin road. Without money, a person will remain a window shopper on the coin road.

After reaching the coin road’s end, they arrived at a beautiful vast park-like area. On their way to a bench, they overheard someone calling this area the island’s heart. The area was called Paradise Heart.

After a road where a person spends until his heart bleeds, they reach the end to rest in a relaxing scenery and ease their bleeding heart.

Vincent and Lilith found a bench with a good view and few people around. They enjoyed the beautiful environment and later decided to eat something.

Multiple green lights appeared on the bench. One item after the other appeared. Plate, cutlery, freshly cooked food, and drinks were summoned.

Lilith became happy to have this special service all to herself. However, she didn’t dare to peek at her sides. Every person that passed by them couldn’t help but glance.

After an enjoyable meal, they spent a little longer in the Paradise Heart. Later, after knowing how Nick and Clair were going to remain on Paradise Island with Vivid and Pussy, they decided to walk back and leave a note of their departure if no one was at team ten’s house.

The more they walked on the coin road, it felt as if the number of students and villagers walking on the road was increasing. It started to feel like a marketplace festival.

Vincent walked shoulder to Lilith after noticing she was showing signs of anxiety. It was going all well when a problem occurred at about in the middle of the coin road. A person bumped into Vincent with force and then demanded an apology.

Vincent didn’t want any trouble because he needed to get Lilith out of the coin road. He apologized without any hesitation and continued walking.

“Ptui! You better watch out! My Blackheart family owns half stalls in the coin road. You are lucky I am in a good mood, or no one would sell to you.” The arrogant tall, thin student spat on the floor after he felt good hearing the apology.

Vincent glanced at the arrogant student swiftly, and a glare appeared after seeing his status window.

Vincent had the urge to kick his ass while Kazumi hoped he would do this action and get his arrogant ass beaten. However, Kazumi soon noticed something strange. The arrogant Kilo Blackheart didn’t collide with anyone else before he left their sight.

[Are we being targeted by that weak noodle?]

Kazumi planned to follow Kilo next time and overhear anything he might say.
