409 Are you Vincent’s next woman?

Maria wasn’t allowed to leave the academy because Darwin feared her personality might cause an irreparable incident. A noble hater like her might actually freeze someone if confronted arrogantly.

Unless Maria had someone to watch over her, she was only allowed to visit his house where she could spend time with his wife and read from his private book collection.

In other words, Maria could barely sleep because this was a day she could visit the city while being assigned to protect the Lionheart family if they find themselves in danger.

*Sigh* “You guys took your time. Come, let’s go.” Maria turned around and headed to the outer main entrance.

Vincent shook his head and said, “I hoped she would forget, but here she is, rushing to wait for our carriage.”

“Dear, weren’t you going to commission lord Byron to build a small house?” Lilith placed her hand on her mouth and chuckled. “Hehe. I think we might need a moving house soon and magical beasts pulling it.”

Lupa liked the idea. She looked at Plow and sarcastically suggested. [I hear all the time how foxes are better than wolves. My mate, how about catching a few big foxes to pull the moving wood?]

“Magical Beast Foxes pulling the large carriage? Lupa, I don’t think foxes would be a good choice.” Vincent said after hearing a telepathic comment Plow surely wouldn’t like.

*Pho!* “Plow can pull moving wood! But Plow needs to grow up first...” Plow was too intelligent for her young age, yet she wanted to keep up with the much older Lupa.

.....

*Cough* “Ahh, my fingers feel slightly sore from not moving them too much lately.” Ester said while looking at Lupa’s ears. As she thought, the wolf girl noticed her intent and didn’t misbehave or tease Plow for a while.

After leaving the academy grounds by passing the outer main entrance, they saw Maria talking to Sofy. The discussion appeared to be a little bit too heated because Sofy was frowning while Maira coldly gazed at her.

Sofy turned her head and saw Vincent. “Another woman already?” She asked.

“I already said I have no lover because I don’t want to be a noble. I don’t want to experience another kind of prison.” Maria said. She looked at Vincent with a dull cold gaze and continued, “Tell your elf how I am not yours.”

[Is it me, or do I feel like she is threatening you right now?]

-Why do I feel like Maria is going to be a pain in the neck?-

“Sofy, she is my magic teacher and part-time tutor. ” Vincent explained. He looked at Maria and continued, “Teacher Maria. Sofy has a mana body like us, but she doesn’t have a class...”
‘Wait! Why don’t I become a bit shameless and ask if Maria wants to work as a tutor in our home? Our home would become safer if Sofy can awaken a magic-related class.’ Vincent pondered after he abruptly paused.

“Teacher Maria, I was wondering. Could you visit our home on Sunday when you have time? Who knows, maybe you could relax and watch someone train.” Vincent offered. He hoped to hear yes.

“Sure. ” Maira quickly answered. Now she had a new excuse to tell Darwin that she needed to go out every Sunday and an excuse to protect the Lionheart family.

Shortly, everyone boarded the carriage.

Sofy looked at Vincent sitting beside her with Plow on his lap. She smiled and tugged the leash. Even with an effortless tug, the horses obeyed her command.

It was a long ride back home, so Vincent chatted with Sofy to pass the time.

Sofy became happy that the first question was about her. She mentioned how life felt a little bland without him around. Afterward, she continued if Vincent had any plans to rest afternoon and if he would require the service of a maid such as herself.

Vincent coughed a few times and changed the subject as quickly as possible. Hearing Kazumi laughing her soul out about a date with a whip made Vincent nervous.

Sofy frowned at how the subject was never allowed to continue. She had a long life, and Vincent didn’t bring another new woman, so he decided to let him change the subject as he wanted.

Sofy mentioned how the twins had gotten used to their guard shift, and they even stopped a thief from entering. Both spent a day with a grin on their faces after Eliara and Fliara praised them.

The five children and Tula spent the last few days mainly with Zefine. They helped her take care of the animals. However, Sofy mentioned how she noticed the three little girls, Leah, Clara, and Beth, acting strangely when they help with cleaning.

Because Yula was the one who took care of the kids the most, Sofy went to ask her if she knew about the strange behavior. She was surprised to hear how Yula was the culprit of their new conduct.

It all began one night when one of the girls wanted to hear of a story about a hero before she went to sleep. Yula didn’t know which story to tell because some of them had slaves as servants in them. She feared the kids might have a nightmare since three of them had the slave curse mark around their necks.

Thus, Yula created a new heroine story about a heroic maid with dust at her enemy. The story inspired the little girls helping in maid duties. After that day, the three of them play as the heroine and spend a long time wiping the same spot until their reflection faintly appears.

The three little girls would say, dust badie defeated with a content smile. The smile made it hard for anyone to tell them there was no need to clean what a few wipes became clean five minutes ago.

Vincent felt relieved to hear how the little girls didn’t need his help to remove the slave curse for them to fit in and remain smiling. Nevertheless, Vincent hoped to one day remove their curse without giving them his dangerous mark in return.

Soon, Sakura was the next person Sofy talked about. Well, there wasn’t much she could say. Sakura lived mostly in the workshop while leaving only to eat, sleep, and go to the bathroom. As if Sakura was living somewhere far away, Sofy saw Sakura become surprised to hear how we have new animals on the property.

Vincent and Kazumi understood Sakura’s perfection might prove a little problematic, and she might become a shut-in in the future. It got them to wonder if it was her personality stemming from the freedom to create anything she wanted or it was a nature the demonkind has.

Later, they arrived at their first destination. Lenn and Renn became thrilled to see Vincent, but their smiles turned upside down after hearing how he needed to go somewhere, and after hearing how Lupa was excited to spar with them, a cold chill rushed down their spine.

The carriage soon arrived in front of the entrance door. Other than the shut-in Sakura, the mansion’s residents gathered to greet them while exiting the carriage.

Maria was confused about why the Lionheart family had two teens guarding the gate. Furthermore, she frowned when her eyes landed on little Leah, Clara, and Beth.

Tula looked at Maria with a curious gaze. She approached the frowning Maria and asked, “Good day, pretty big sister. Is big sister going to be big brother’s next wife?”

Yula sweated bullets when her daughter asked such a sensitive question. She extended her hand and pulled Tula’s ear. “You are going to be grounded, missy.”

Maria lightly blushed, yet the mansion residents brought up heaps of questions to her train of thoughts. First were the twins guarding the gate, then the three little girls with the slave curse, and now a woman with a bountiful chest speaking like a kid.

Maria became confused about what kind of place the Emerald Lionheart Mansion was.

“Tula. This person is teacher, Maria.” Vincent looked at Maria and revealed, “She is the ice fairy or princess you have been looking for. You couldn’t find her because she was teaching magic.”

“You!” Maria became angry. Her cold gaze became filled with bloodlust after her secret was told to others as if it was nothing.

Maria took out her wand and grasped it tightly. It felt as if she was about to freeze Vincent to death.

[Vincent! You broke the promise, and now she wants to kill you!]

Fortunately, the issue was soon resolved with a hug. Tula excitedly giggled while hugging Maria. She looked at her and cheerfully said, “I am happy to meet you, ice princess of the ice fairies. I had lots of fun playing in the cold water when it was very hot.”

“Vincent. Is miss Maria the person my daughter, wanted to see for all those years? If so, then I need to cook miss Maria something good to thank her for giving my daughter a happy memory she could never forget.” Yula asked.

Maria became speechless to hear how she was still remembered how after her noble, selfless act to help others. The thoughts of harming Vincent for breaking the promise waned after Tula and Yula showed appreciation upon the mention of being the ice mage who froze the fountain in the heatwave.

*Bam!* The gate slammed open. Five men appeared, running inside while Lenn and Renn ran after them.

“Come out, you pansies! The glue gang fears no rumor about a demon living here. We are here to pay back the humiliation our brother suffered! ” The man running at first place shouted.

“Let’s mug them!”

“Ye boys. For the loot!”

“Compensation for the humiliation!”

Three shouted afterwords. The fifth man couldn’t shout as he was the closest to Renn’s blade.
