423 Don’t peek too much

Furthermore, Ganni was told how his daughter had a common sickness similar to how a few children had recently and that he had nothing to worry about.

It was nothing the family’s healer could treat, and the Draghem family swore on their family name that their healer could cure little Alice with no problem.

Ganni accepted after deciding to place his trust in the noble family’s words, as swearing on the family name was the highest degree of pledge a noble could do.

The deal sounded great because it was a week’s pay from Ganni’s salary and the healer always healed little Alice as promised, but it was the beginning of an endless spiral of deceit and manipulation.

The healer always healed Alice behind a curtain with the excuse of secrecy. It was a way to deceive Ganni and mention how they used the inspection gemstone every time.

Alice was getting cured, yet she got sick soon after. The more time passed, the more Ganni felt something else was wrong with this situation, yet it was too late.

Ganni had to sell his house and rent the current house they are in. But the funds were running thin, and Ganni was becoming desperate as his family might end on the streets soon.

A few days ago, Ganni overheard Phil and James discuss visiting a noble’s house and asking to be sponsored by a noble. His ears perked up, and a spark of hope lit in his despaired heart after hearing how the Lionheart family has a good herbalist, and his sister began to feel better after taking medicine.

“I felt something was amiss, but I never thought my daughter couldn’t eat bread... as one of the cheapest filling food, I was making my daughter sick because I trusted the words of...”

.....

“Pieces of human trash that even the earth feels disgusted to use as fertilizer, right?” Vincent interrupted.

[So, to summarize. Ganni trusted nobles since an inspection of gemstone was costly. Ganni trusted the words of a noble family, and they legitimately sold their services but never told Ganni the real reason Alice was getting sick. Thus the endless loop of exploitation.]

[Plus, the poorer Ganni’s family got, the fewer chances they could escape the loop.]

Vincent felt he knew the answer to his next question, but he was still curious to hear it from Ganni. “Ganni, did you ever feel noble’s moved away from you when you were at your weakest?” He asked.

Ganni rubbed his chin, and an angered expression appeared on his face. He clenched his fists and answered, “So that’s why nobles never questioned why I looked haggard or interested in sponsoring a vice-captain.”

“Almost everyone promoted to vice-captain rank got sponsored in about five years. I am reaching my fifth year... doesn’t it mean they placed their claim on me by targeting my daughter...” Ganni continued with an angered voice.

*CLAP* Vincent loudly clapped his hands.
“Ganni. You and your family will live in my home from now on. Tell me what is yours, and I will transport it to your family’s new room.” Vincent suddenly announced, surprising both Kazumi and Ganni.

“We... we can’t...”

“Is this table bought by you?” Vincent interrupted again. Gannin nodded, and the table shone green. It disintegrated into particles and entered Vincent’s palm in seconds.

“Come, I don’t have all day. Let me help you take all your stuff to your new home.” Vincent insisted. He got up and stored the chair he sat on.

‘This... this is a dream, right? How can a noble offer let us commoners live on his property? There might be strings attached, yet he never showed any signs of deception. Lord Vincent even became angry at me when he saw my daughter in that state.’ Ganni pondered with a guilty conscience.

Ganni raised his saddened gaze to look at the ceiling and thought with deep guilt, ‘Can I still be called a father after letting my daughter thread between life and death? If I had used every last bit of my money to buy an inspection gemstone or inspection scroll, the situation wouldn’t have become like this. Is this why people say money can buy life?’

*Tap* “Cheer up, Ganni. A new life is ahead of your family. And don’t worry about your daughter because five children live in my home. Your new home.” Vincent tapped on Ganni’s shoulder and tried to cheer him from the depressed expression on his face.

*Smack* Ganni slapped his face twice. He lowered to one knee, took out his sword, and respectfully presented it to Vincent.

“I, Ganni, willingly vow to serve Lord Vincent Lionheart in this life with all I have. I will be the blade to protect, to vanquish his foes, or be cast aside when danger befalls.” Ganni vowed with deep respect.

Vincent gladly accepted his sword and returned it, saying, “I am glad to have people I can trust my family with.”

[Notice]

[Ganni has been accepted to the Loyal Servant System with a loyalty standing of Loyal.]

.

After Vincent said this, a notification window appeared, and it displayed Ganni with the loyalty meter at max rating.

Shortly, the ground level barely had anything remaining, as if the rented house had nothing inside before Ganni’s family moved in. Later, they went upstairs, and Vincent almost cleaned the first floor from objects as well.

Lilith held little Alice while Ganni held his wife. They went outside, and Vincent summoned the two-wheeled cart for the mother and daughter to be transported comfortably under dozens of fabric.

Ganni became immensely grateful for the kindness and care Vincent provided. He grabbed the handles and pulled the cart while turning his head back from time to time.

However, Ganni didn’t need to worry greatly as Vincent, Iris, and Lilith walked beside the cart. They watched over the mother and daughter pair.

After stopping to take a break a couple of times because Lilith did not want to be carried by Vincent as it was embarrassing, they arrived at the Emerald Lionheart Mansion.

Later, Ganni had help taking his wife and daughter to a bedroom. In the bedroom were Phil and his sister and James and his wife.

Phil and James became surprised to see their vice-captain carrying his wife and placing her on a bed. Then they saw Vincent enter with a little girl and place her gently beside her mother.

“Vice-captain! Why didn’t you tell us it was urgent?” James said. His wife was poisoned, yet he felt Ganni’s wife and daughter were in a worse condition. Both looked sick and thin from not eating enough.

Fortunately, Phil and James didn’t see little Alice before being healed.

“Ahem. Go to the garden and take a breath of fresh air. Leave the patients to the residents of this mansion and my wife, Iris. ” Vincent said. He walked for the door and continued, “Let’s leave the caring to them.”

Phil, James, and Ganni nodded. They touched the cheek of the family members resting on the bed and went downstairs to have a long talk and share their problems.

“Vincent, leave it to us and go spend your time with Sakura. She is in her workshop.” Ester said after arriving, holding a basket with clean female clothes.

“Rest your mind, dear. I will help Iris treat them. ” Lilith said. Today, she learned a lot after watching Vincent use Minor Heal multiple times.

“I will do my best. ” Iris said. Her eyes burned with the desire to treat the four patients.

Vincent kissed his wives on their cheeks and left. However, Lupa quickly stopped him at the end of the stairs. She approached his face and puffed her cheek. Obviously, her detector of missing out triggered, and she went to receive a peck on her cheek.

After satisfying the demanding wolf girl, Vincent went to the workshop.

Phil noticed Vincent moving quickly, and he thought something had happened. He, James, and Ganni secretly followed Vincent because they noticed him acting a bit strange.

Vincent looked as if he was preparing to fight for his life. Later, Vincent stopped in front of the workshop door and stretched his body. He knocked on the door, and a hand pulled him inside.

After watching Vincent was helplessly and forcefully pulled inside, Phil, James, and Ganni became worried it might be an assassination attempt.

Ganni cautiously opened the door slightly and peeked inside to save Vincent at a moment’s notice, while Phil and James went to the window and peeked from the side.

They couldn’t believe what they saw. The strange hobgoblin with horns was actually from the demon race, and she was the lover of a noble. They quickly understood why Vincent needed people he could trust. A healthy, attractive woman of the demon race that wasn’t a slave would fetch a high price.

The three quickly left with their hearts racing from what they saw. James and Ganni learned something new, while Phil began to wonder if he should start looking for a partner now that his sister is in great care.

Hours later, Vincent and Sakura returned to the mansion. They were surprised to see, Phil, James, and Ganni not showing any signs of intimidation at the sight of Sakura without green makeup. Furthermore, Phil and James lightly blushed when Vincent introduced Sakura to them for a reason they were going to keep a secret to their graves.

The Head Maid of the mansion had a big headache with what was happening on this day.

Maid Xu was tasked with many things to manage on this day. She began to hate the word Sunday and Vincent as more and more work was placed on her shoulder every Sunday, with Vincent as the cause of all the overwork.
