464 No pain, no change

“Was... was the seed your core? Did I... get a second familiar?” Vincent tried to make sense of what was happening.

Vincent scratched his head and looked at the two familiars. Suddenly he recalled a small detail he almost missed. Zero said the letter H before telepathically telling him it was hungry.

“Zero. Talk to me. Say anything you want.” Vincent requested.

[Master. Zero. Not. Thirsty.]

*Sigh* “I misheard from the excitement, it seems...”

Plow noticed Vincent was unhappy. She snuggled with Vincent and said, “Zero, no need to speak. Plow can speak because Plow is familiar number one.” *Pho*

“Being number one means you are the big sister. So take care of Zero.” Vincent petted Plow acting envious and cute.

“Yes!” *Pho!* Plow exclaimed while wagging her tails.

Vincent moved his head at Zero to see how the tiny vampire plant was doing. The previous one-inch tall Zero became two inches tall, and the two tiny leaves on its stem-like head grew by a little.

.....

After spending a few hours with the sleeping Plow and Zero, Vincent started to worry that something bad had happened. Kazumi didn’t return, and no one came to tell him everything was fine with Lilith’s situation.

Vincent placed Zero in his pocket and Plow between his arms. He went to the Pocket Cabin and opened the door. There he saw Ester, Lupa, and Iris with worried expressions.

Kazumi entered his body. She explained that she replenished her mana with Ester’s help and remained with them.

[Lilith was fine at first, but I suspect that she began showing signs of becoming sick when the potion’s effects ended.]

[It’s been about two hours and a half from the time Lilith took the potion.]

[Lilith looked exhausted whenever I peeked at her condition. She has lost some weight in the process, and she looks dirty like the filth the body removes in cultivation stories you like to read.]

Vincent approached a sofa and placed Zero and Plow on it.

Ester, Lupa, and Iris noticed a Zero had become small again, but they didn’t feel like asking because of what was happening right now.

“Kazumi told me Lilith’s stomach is still troubled. Is it that bad? ” Vincent asked.

“Yes, it is. Lilith is very embarrassed, and only Iris was allowed to place a cup of herbal drink on the floor and leave.” Ester explained. She moved her gaze at the toilet room and sighed.

“I made the six nutritious drinks to replenish her strength. I was about to give it to her another one in a few more minutes.” Iris explained with a green drink in her hand.

“I wanted to help too... but sister Lilith told me to cover my ears and nose instead.” Lupa crossed her arms and frowned. Her ears moved as if she heard a faint sound, causing her to ask, “My mate, do you know why humans act strange when doing nature calls?”

There was silence for a few moments.

Vincent smirked but didn’t answer. He approached the toilet’s door and knocked on it. *Knock, knock* “I’m Vincent. Are you fine?” He asked.

*Huff* “Please... don’t...” *Huff* “enter... don’t... smell... or... hear...”
Vincent became worried to hear Lilith breathing heavily as if she had run up the stairs.

“Can I enter to check your condition, at least? I don’t care how you look or smell. I am only worried the condition needs to be treated by my healing.” Vincent asked because Lilith showed how embarrassed she was in this time of weakness.

*Thud* Vincent heard the sound of something falling on the floor. “Did something happen?” He asked, but there was no response.

Kazumi promptly left his body to take a look. Kazumi hastily returned with a worried expression and exclaimed.

[Enter now! Lilith is on the floor. She probably has fainted.]

Vincent swiftly opened the door, and steam flew at him as if inside the toilet was a sauna. Soon, the ordinary smelly scent of nature’s call and something strange and pungent bombarded his nostrils.

Vincent rushed inside and saw dark goo on Lilith’s skin, clothes, and on the floor.

“Lilith!” Vincent shouted while trying to grab her arm. However, his hold slipped as if her skin was covered with a soap-like substance.

Vincent frowned and used inspection next.

“Ester, help me bring Lilith upstairs. Iris, prepare water and bring it upstairs. ” Vincent ordered.

“Yes.” Ester and Iris answered.

Lupa and Plow frowned. They wanted to help, but the pungent smell circulating in the cabin was making them feel nauseous.

“Lupa, if the smell isn’t bothering you that much, then you can help Iris. ” Vincent asked.

Lupa nodded and went to grab a tablecloth. She wrapped it around her face to cover her from the nose down. *Tap* She tapped her chest to depend on her while her eyes were watery.

When Ester approached Vincent to help Vincent lift Lilith, she momentarily froze at the view of Lilith on the floor.

Shortly, memories of being sick and almost dying resurfaced. ‘Not now!’ Ester thought while shaking her head.

Half an hour later...

???????????????? ???????????????????????????? ???????????????????????? ???????????????????? ???????? ????????????????????-????????????.????????????

“I used five minor heals on Lilith, and she isn’t sick anymore. Her skin has also regained some color, so it should be fine now...” Vincent paused for a moment and looked outside the window.

“Maria has arrived, and she is impatiently tapping her foot in front of the door.” Vincent walked to the door and continued, “I will leave Lilith in your hands.”

“Leave Lilith to us.” Ester, Lupa, and Iris said at the same time.

Vincent went downstairs and took Plow and Zero outside with him. He opened the door and saw an extremely annoyed Maria frowning and sighing.

Vincent started explaining before Maria’s sighs could form a strong gust.

Vincent explained how Lilith took an expired slimming potion at a discounted price because of the potion vendor. Honey only mentioned a stomach ache of minor inconvenience as the possible side effect.

However, what happened to Lilith wasn’t a minor inconvenience. Instead, it was deadly. Lilith’s condition suddenly took a turn for the worst after the potion’s effects ended.

Maria became worried to hear this, but Vincent quickly explained how Iris gave her a couple of herbal drinks, and he used a minor heal scroll he had saved to hide the fact that he could use minor heal like a Healer Class.

Vincent continued how Maria was the only person other than Biro, Ton, Ollie, and Darwin that he could trust with the academy matters.

Maria frowned when she heard how they were about to leave because Lilith wasn’t feeling too good, but the appearance of Kilo Blackheart and his cronies stopped them.

Kilo insulted Lilith again as if he thought Vincent would simply challenge him to another contest. On the other hand, his cronies were about to slap Ester for becoming angry because of the insults.

“I sometimes might try to turn a blind eye to stop a situation from escalating, but Kilo was there to see if I was a pushover. I was once, but now I have people to protect. I can’t back down when the situation gets problematic.” Vincent said with a resolute gaze. The words came from his heart.

“I understand the frustrations those stinking brats can cause. I will tell teacher Darwin about your side of the story.” Maria responded. She didn’t care much about what happened to nobles in the academy. Or at least those she had no connections with.

Maria wanted to see Lilith, but Vincent didn’t like the idea.

*Sigh* “Let’s go.” Vincent had no choice but to let the frowning Maria enter. He covered Plow’s nose and entered inside.

To their surprise, a fragrant smell of lavender greeted them first. Iris was cleaning the pungent black stains on the toilet room floor. She had a bucket beside her, and it was fragrant like a lavender-scented detergent.

“So this is the famous portable building I heard about. ” Maria commented while looking around and following Vincent upstairs.

Maria ented the large bedroom and saw Lilith. She was covered and on her forehead was a cool, wet piece of cloth.

“Lilith looks different. How badly did she have to suffer from losing so much weight? I heard how ordinary slimming potions remove about one percent of body weight per potion if I recall correctly.” Maria said while looking at Lilith.

“That flirty Honey will have to respond to me!” Maria suddenly said out of anger. Her emotions felt as if Honey might have caused Maria a problem in the past.

Maria stayed for a while longer and left. It was getting dark, so Vincent, Ester, Lupa, Iris, Plow, and Zero slept in the pocket cabin.

*Day 132 – 18 October – Sunday*

The dawn of Sunday brightened the bedroom of the pocket cabin. Vincent opened his eyes after Kazumi pestered him to wake up.

The view Vincent saw could never be forgotten. He now understood why Leonis and Teresa Lionheart called their daughter an angel.

Lilith was looking outside the window. She turned around when she heard someone wake up.

Vincent saw a face with a pair of beautiful sapphire eyes, glasses, and a warm smile. Her golden hair moved as she turned, glistening under the gentle sunlight of the morning as if each hair was a thread of gold. Her large overweight white nightgown fluttered as she quickly turned as if a pair of wings.

“An angel. ” Vincent said what was on his mind from the surprise. He didn’t try to see how much Lilith changed yesterday, so this was an impactful surprise.
