633 The enemy of my enemy is a temporary ally

[Bright. I am glad you have been born healthy and well.]

[The soothing warmth feels much different than the strange air surrounding the current Wolfie, Freerie, and that figure of light.]

Vlad looked down at his hands. They were still injured, but their shaking was drastically reduced. He looked at the large ball of warm light and became confused as to why a monster chose to aid him.

Bright trembled as it looked at Vincent. Its body shook and exploded into thousands of tiny radiant green particles.

[Bright...] Kazumi became devastated to see Bright suddenly explode. However, Bright didn’t die. Instead, the tiny radiant green particles swirled around five specific individuals.

The swirling tiny radiant green particles began to gather above their heads. It took less than five seconds for a green radiant halo to form above them.

Vincent, Kazumi, and Vlad now had halos above their heads, while the two soul eggs born from the bond between Vincent, Iris, and Sakura had a halo above the top of the eggshell.

From their backs, six rays of light appeared before taking an ethereal form, and they gently swayed as if they were wings made of rays of light.

Vincent placed his hands on the dark ground. He slowly pulled himself up after the pain lessened and his strength felt partially returning.

.....

The hole in Vincent’s upper body was covered by radiant green light. As if it was the center of Bright’s blessing, soothing warmth made his soul, forming the body, begin to recover slowly.

Kazumi felt her mana recovery increase. Her body was made of mana, which meant Bright was healing Kazumi.

Similar to Vincent and Kazumi, Vlad’s soul wounds were recovering. His hands stopped trembling altogether, and his fingers’ wounds gradually improved.

“I didn’t think that monster ball of light would sacrifice its life to heal us...”

[Bright is not dead. It is with us until the buff ends. That must be it... no. That has to be it.]

Vincent raised his hand. “Thank you, Bright.”

After Vincent thanked Bright, one of the rays of light moved and touched Vincent’s hand. It showed to Kazumi and Vlad that Bright had taken a different form as it was only compromised of light, similar to the figure of light.

This discovery brought forth a new question. Could the figure of light, the corrupted ego of the past Vincent, be ever defeated? The three of them wanted to know, and they didn’t have time to waste.

[So you are with me, Bright. Hehe.] [Sniff] [You split your soul body like how Freerie’s soul body was split into sixteen parts.]

“The green monster sun is still alive?” Vlad questioned. He raised his hand to scratch his head. “I never thought today was going to be the day I experienced living in a nightmare like this...”

Vlad stopped talking after his hand arrived underneath the halo above his head. His hand felt soothed by a pleasant warmth, causing Vlad to frown.

Vlad was astonished, yet he couldn’t let his emotions take the better of him and side with Vincent. Vlad didn’t want to imagine siding with a person who came from the same world as the second hero, the madman who ruined his life.
*Tsk* “Monster sun. I will use you, so don’t think you won, you bright monster.” Vlad said. Even though he hated the idea of a monster attaching itself to him, he didn’t try to force Bright off of him.

Vincent, Kazumi, and Vlad stood in front of Wolfie, Freerie, and the figure of light. Their new appearance, similar to how Lilith looks like the vessel of a goddess, was going to assist in taking care of this situation.

“Wolfie. Freerie. I forgive you.” Vincent pointed at the figure of light and continued, “Move aside. That version of me is my enemy.”

However, Wolfie and Freerie didn’t show a sign of hearing Vincent. They moved their heads to look at the figure of light walking in between them.

“I am a bad son. Please don’t hate m...”

“I will kill you! I will devour you!”

“Please don’t listen to me. My parents listened to me. Now they are dead...”

“I hate you! I will kill you! I will...”

“Calm down. I understand, ego of my soul. I will call you Egos in short.” Vincent interrupted while naming the figure of light Egos.

[Vincent. There is a better time to give your other half a name. We do not have enough time to befriend it if that is your plan.]

*Tsk* “I don’t care what name you give that monster. I will be killing it before killing you since I need to use this strange healing warmth to recover.” Vlad crossed his arms. “Time is ticking. Only you will be dying after the time ends. Not me.”

Vincent smirked. “Does that mean my potential father-in-law is starting to worry about me?” Vincent teased.

???????????????? ???????????????????????????? ???????????????????????? ???????????????????? ???????? ????????????????????-????????????.????????????

Vincent could not understand what was passing through Vlad’s mind when he removed the cold stinger from Vincent’s upper body.

“Why are you frowning? Don’t you know what they say? The enemy of my enemy is my friend.”

*Tsk* “Don’t press your luck, you monster. I merely want to kill you myself.” Vlad bluntly said while frowning. However, he didn’t decline the idea of cooperating to take down Egos.

Vlad learned how the sane Overload Vincent was far different than the wild and overly aggressive version of Overload Vincent. Emotions are a weakness, believed Vlad. This belief bumped Egos as the number one threat to eliminate.

*Screech!* Egos loudly screeched an ear-piercing scream. Wolfie rushed to attack Vlad while Freerie shot to stinger at Vincent.

Vlad clicked his tongue before doing another rematch with Wolfie. This time, Vlad had the buff of recovery on his side, similar to yet less effective than what Wolfie had.

On the other hand, Vincent jumped to the side and managed to dodge the stinger shot toward him. Vincent managed to miss being hit by a hair, but that was because Freerie used the earth’s power to make it heavier and slower.

[The stinger would have pierced you again if Freerie used any other power or no power while shooting the stinger.]

Kazumi looked at Freerie flapping its wings without moving and wondered. [Could Freerie be resisting the mind control?]

Vincent stood up. He saw Freerie solely focusing on regrowing its stinger. Not too far from them were Wolfie and Vlad duking it out.

One ray of light from each side wrapped around his arms up to his hands. Vlad could fight better with the healing power focused on his knuckles being constantly injured.

“Bright. Give me a pair of gauntlets.” Vincent requested.

The three rays of light on each side moved and wrapped around Vincent’s arms. “Now that’s better. ” Vincent said while looking at his radiant green arms.

Kazumi had the brilliant idea to have arms. [Can I have arms?] She requested.

Bright used the six rays of light to form a pair of small arms for Kazumi to control.

Kazumi was delighted to have arms, but it wasn’t the time to become happy. Kazumi rushed towards Iris and Sakura’s soul eggs. After arriving, Kazumi placed her hands on the two soul eggs and promised she was going to protect them.

Egos looked at Kazumi. He began walking casually as if no one could touch him.

Vlad frowned. “Don’t think about controlling more monsters!” He exclaimed while punching Wolfie in the jaw.

Vlad took this brief opportunity to attack Egos, but Vincent was knocked onto him. Vlad instinctively raised his hand and caught Vincent’s leg. *Slam* Vincent was slammed into the dark ground.

*Tsk* “You ruined my opportunity to kill that glowing monster.” Vlad angrily complained.

“Argh. My nose.” Vincent stood up and cracked his neck. “Thanks for the catch, father-in-law.”

“You mother...” *Slash* Vlad side-stepped to dodge Wolfie’s claws.

“Those aren’t nice words to say, father-in-law.” Vincent teased before he jumped to the side and dodged the stinger by a hair.

Blocking the stinger sent Vincent flying previously. Vincent could only dodge the stinger shot with the earth’s power.

‘The plan is working. Mimi’s father is becoming angrier every time I say I am going to become his son-in-law. His anger could help stop Wolfier and Freerie. At least long enough to deal with Egos.’ Vincent thought while standing up.

Vincent looked in Kazumi’s direction. She was bravely guarding the eggs while Egos approached her.

“I need to protect them. Father-in-law, please take care of these two for now.” Vincent said while continuously infuriating Vlad.

“What the hel...”

*Step, slash*

Vlad, known as the blur and also sometimes known as the side-stepping immortal, was slashed. Vlad appeared beside the vanishing illusion body a moment later.

*Step, bam*

Without a chance to have a breather, a swift stinger pierced his body. Vlad appeared a couple of steps away from the stinger and his injured vanishing body.

“Is my speed returning? But now? Is it because of the glowing monster attached to my back and head?” Vlad questioned before noticing his legs were wrapped with two rays of light on each foot.

Bright used the remaining four rays of light to wrap around Vlad’s legs. This allowed Vlad to move unconstrained because Vincent’s Soul Domain didn’t consider Vlad as an uninvited guest anymore. Vlad’s speed was only hindered by his injuries now.

Vlad’s body blurred before vanishing. Vlad appeared in mid-air in between Wolfie and Freerie. One hand grabbed a wolf’s ear while the other grabbed a wing.

Vlad landed and slammed both Wolfie and Freerie to the dark ground. *Crack* Vlad cracked his neck and moved his gaze to Vincent.

“Huh? Why are you on the ground?” Vlad asked after seeing Vincent on his knees, holding a broken egg.
