644 I’ll be your sword. You’ll be my shield.

The outcome was beneficial to all parties.

The first party was Vincent. He gained a trustworthy shield against the discovery and spread of his secret if it was ever revealed.

The second party was Anna. She gained a powerful ally to have her back if the situation ever arose. To have a noble family, Anna can unconditionally trust that she isn’t going to be betrayed, which was more valuable to her than all the riches she currently possesses.

Anna didn’t have a noble family to act as her support, bound by a contract of trust similar to how their relationship was going to be bound soon.

Anna had individuals such as Lucas and Bilka as her support, but no entire noble family was bound to help her whenever she asked.

The noble families served the Royal Family, and their interest was for the Royal Family’s safety and the Kingdom’s betterment. If they were asked to help Anna, they would have to weigh the pros and cons of the favor Anna requests before accepting and politely declining.

However, that would not be the case for Vincent’s Lionheart noble family. He, his wives, and his people would accept to help Anna without weighing the pros and cons.

The third party was Lucas. He gained a valuable asset to keep Anna safer and out of harm’s way much easier than before. After the new magic contract is signed, Lucas would be able to include the Lionheart family when it involves Anna needing a place to be kept secure.

The fourth and last party was Bilka. She was unhappy that a man like Vincent would stay around Anna.

.....

Bilka believed with her staying by Anna’s side. The situation would always be good enough to request the need of Vincent and his family’s assistance.

When Vincent and Anna’s intentions were aligned, a window appeared in front of Vincent’s face. He didn’t say the word I promise, yet the Promised Quest system activated on its own.

Vincent and Kazumi were taken by surprise. They didn’t think the Promised Quest would trigger since it didn’t activate upon the handshake or the verbal agreement.

The contents of the updated promised quest provided more reputation points whenever Vincent or his family supported Anna. This was a blessing in disguise, as there was no other way to befriend Bilka.

Anna was supported once the system showed. It was highly likely that the Lionheart Girls deterred Vincent from attacking Anna or the residents. It counted as support because Vincent was not an ally at that time.

“It looks like Vincent needs to rest. We shall leave you to rest.” Anna said after noticing Vincent was staring blankly all of a sudden. She believed he needed to sleep since no one other than Vincent and Kazumi could see the promised quest window in front of his face.

“Haha. Has her highness forgotten about the reason we came here for? ” Asked Lucas.

“The details?... details!” Anna widened her eyes, showing she had forgotten to tell Vincent the official details about the judgment by combat.

“I told Baroness Teresa Lionheart about the details of the judgment by combat and forgot.” Explained Anna.

“Don’t worry, your highness. There is no need to tell him personally. Baroness Teresa Lionheart could tell him later.” Bilka looked at Vincent with a frown and continued, “There is still time to prepare for Sunday’s match in the evening. There. Now you know.”

“Haha.” Lucas laughed while Anna sighed. Vincent stared at Bilka while Kazumi became angry the information left her profoundly curious.

“It is not nice to put it that way, Bilka. Vincent will become my support after we provide him with a magic contract my father will help me write.” Anna said with a gentile frown.

[What! Her father, the king, will assist in writing the contract. I hope the situation will remain manageable. I don’t want to add more ticking time-bomb variables. We have enough as is.]

-I agree with your thinking Kazumi. We need to find out what kind of person Anna’s father is. We also are still determining if he will decide to keep an eye on us from now onwards.-

[Stop it. That idea is already giving me the chills. The thought about Anna’s father figuring out our identity is frightening.]

-Or like daughter like father. We could be suspected to be the retainers of Kevin.-

[...] Kazumi realized the situation was starting to get out of control. She began to wonder if they should order more Pocket Cabins to live a life of runaways.

“Haha. Fear not, Vincent. His majesty is a magnanimous person like her highness. There is no need to worry unless...” Lucas grinned and continued, “Her highness is in risk of being taken.”

“Taken?” Vincent questioned.

???????????????? ???????????????????????????? ???????????????????????? ???????????????????? ???????? ????????????????????-????????????.????????????

“Haha. I wonder what it means.” Lucas playfully answered.

Bilka frowned deeply. She stomped her foot down and pointed angrily at Vincent. “Don’t dare have the vague idea of becoming her highness’s man! No one will become her highness’s boyfriend on my watch!”

Anna blushed and averted her gaze from Vincent. She felt too embarrassed to look at him.

[This half-giant is sure getting on my nerves. I get a say on who enters my harem. Not a stuck-up half-giant teenager like her.]

‘Kazumi isn’t denying anymore she is the owner of the harem.’ Vincent thought while holding himself from sighing or shaking his head.

*Clap* “Ahem.” Lucas drew the attention to himself. “The time for us to leave is upon us. I will explain the details about the judgment by combat.”

“First of all, it will be an honorable five versus five, and five families in total can be admitted on each side. The participants need to be family members or family-bound slaves.”

“The judgment by combat will take place this Sunday evening. The location is between the Lusterfall Noble Academy and this mansion.”

“It is an unused arena currently being renovated for the event. The building was almost abandoned after the judgment by combats stopped.”

“Each non-familiar combatant is allowed to use one potion. Additionally, each non-familiar combatant can only possess three enchanted weapons or equipment in total at all times.”

“If half of the participating combatants are registered to attend, the remaining two spots can be registered at the last second with the appropriate documents. That means you, Lupa, and Ester have already admitted to participating.”

“In the end, the victor’s side will be the one in the right while the loser’s side will be the one in the wrong...”

*Sigh* “However, that darn vampire had to injure and weaken you. The chances to win became slimmer, so I want to make a proposition.”

Lucas grinned and proposed, “I will secretly visit every day and help with the training. What do you say?”

Vincent and Kazumi needed to digest all the information, yet the offer mentioned in the last part about the beneficial offer grabbed their entire attention.

“It would be helpful to spar against an opponent Ester or Lupa can not win against. It will help them grow stronger and create new moves.” Vincent responded without adding himself as another person who would benefit from the offer.

Lucas noticed Vincent became distant all of a sudden. “Is there a reason you do not wish to be trained by me?” He assertively questioned.

Vincent gently shook his head. He looked at Bilka, Anna, and, lastly, Lucas.

“I want to leave the city and spend a day or two in the forest alone. I need to recollect myself after what happened. I also need to brainstorm a way to regain the stat power I lost.” Vincent explained with a saddened tone.

“...” Lucas, Anna, and Bilka didn’t respond for a while.

Anna said, “I will make and bring the magic contract for you to sign after your return.” After a minute of silence.

Vincent gently nodded with a smile.

‘That is reassuring. My leave has been accepted. Anna will not think I am planning on running away after exposing my true identity.’ Vincent thought as he smiled.

Lucas went to open the door. His eyes moved to the corner of the room and what he saw made him smirk.

“It is time to leave and let Vincent rest. I bet he has many people waiting for him behind this door.”

As these words were spoken, multiple footsteps could be heard in the silence of the moment. It was obvious many people were trying to overhear their conversation. Additionally, a certain person used her skill to peek at them.

Lucas opened the door. His eyes saw multiple women and a little fox trying to act as if they had coincidently arrived in front of the door.

They were Ester, Lupa, Iris, Lilith, Sakura, Plow, Sofy, and Jun Ye Rim.
