Chapter 20: Judge Constantine

After successfully infiltrating the spaceship, Adams and Vivian didn’t go straight to the control room. Instead, they carefully searched along the passageway around the edges of the spaceship.

After all, no matter how many A-rank scrolls Adams had, it was not to the point of them being like cabbages. It would be best if they were not discovered by the people on the spacecraft!

When the two of them passed by the first cabin, they were surprised to find a large number of corpses that had been stripped naked. Judging from the wounds on the corpses, they had experienced inhumane torture before they died!

“What’s going on? Was there an internal conflict here?” Vivian couldn’t help but exclaim.

“I’m not sure yet. Perhaps this spaceship was robbed previously!” Adams said with a frown. He then turned to look at the rooms in the corridor ahead and indicated for Vivian to continue going forward.

The two of them advanced cautiously one behind the other. Soon, they arrived at the door of the second cabin. They looked in through the glass on the door and shuddered.

The room was filled with thick chains and there were more than ten monsters locked up!

These monsters’ had upper bodies like that of human girls. They had clean faces, slender arms, as well as ample and well-proportioned bodies. However, their lower bodies had six terrifying spider legs and a huge spider abdomen. Such a strange combination made people feel extremely uncomfortable at first glance!

Leaning against the door, Vivian carefully identified the monsters inside and concluded, “These are Beauty Spiders. They don’t have strong offensive abilities. They’re just C-rank Zergs with slightly weaker strength. Moreover, they don’t have anything of practical use on them. But it’s said that some perverted aristocrats are willing to pay a high price to tame them into their own pets!”

“That’s really perverted!” Adams couldn’t help but exclaim.

Vivian retracted her gaze and said to Adams, “Looks like there are indeed Wanderers on this spacecraft. Let’s go to the other rooms and take a look!”

Adams nodded and said, “Let’s continue!”

The two of them walked to the next room together. This time, they did not see anything shocking. The cabin was filled with Zerg materials and low-grade ores.

“Looks like the things stored in the outer rooms are not very valuable!” Adams analyzed.

Vivian shook her head and said, “That’s because your standards are too high! Considering the price of Beauty Spiders on the market, they’re extremely valuable. Furthermore, although the grade of these materials is very low, they are also rather expensive. It can only be said that the rooms closer to the core area of the spacecraft will contain relatively more valuable things!”

Adams suddenly smiled and said to Vivian, “You want freedom from your family, don’t you? In that case, keep all of these materials!”

As an aristocrat, Vivian had never considered committing such petty theft. She couldn’t help but be in a dilemma. She asked, “Is that okay?”

Adams said in a carefree manner, “Wanderers’ stuff is considered ill-gotten gains. It’s a waste not to take it!”

“Then why don’t you keep them?” Vivian asked.

“Because I have high standards. These ordinary materials are not worthy of my attention!” Adams said.

Vivian was at a loss for words, but she still did as Adams said. Pulling out an Arrow of Death from her back, she pried open the door lock with the arrow and stored all the items in the room into her quantum ring.

Then, Adams and Vivian swept through all the outer rooms of the spacecraft. Other than some living Zergs, all the other materials and resources were stored in Vivian’s quantum ring.

Vivian, who was gradually getting used to such things, seemed to have found the joy in it. She no longer needed Adams to remind her. The moment she saw a room filled with materials, she would pry open the door straight away and collect everything. The entire process was done in one fell swoop, and she was so skilled that it made others raise their eyebrows.

Looking at Vivian’s good progress, Adams couldn’t help but remind her, “Erm, if you see an S-rank material, let me take a look and see if there are any mission materials I need. Don’t put them away too quickly!”

“Don’t worry, I’ll keep an eye out for you!” Vivian said confidently.

Adams was relieved to hear that. All he had to do was help Vivian find rooms with materials, then he wouldn’t have to worry about the rest.

As time passed, the both of them gradually reached the vicinity of the center. Walking past a room, Adams’ gaze swept over a humanoid creature suspended in midair by chains. He then subconsciously walked to the next room.

“Eh?”

After taking two steps forward, Adams suddenly halted in his tracks. He took two steps back and returned to the door of the room. After observing for a while, he realized that the suspended creature was a living human!

However, this human was covered in wounds and blood. If one did not look closely, they would not be able to tell.

“Hint! Communicating with the target can activate a lucky chance!” the system’s voice rang out in Adams’ ears. At the same time, a large marker lit up above the head of the suspended person he was looking at.

“D*mn, is this a hidden mechanism that triggers the system?”

Adams was overjoyed. He couldn’t help but look forward to what this so-called lucky chance would be.

“Vivian, come here quickly!” Adams called for the capable lock picker, and Vivian immediately walked over. She hesitated for two seconds after seeing what was in the room. Then, she turned around and asked, “What is that?”

“It’s a rather miserable human!” Adams said.

Vivian was taken aback. She looked into the room again and vaguely made out a human figure. She quickly pried open the door and walked in with Adams.

When the two of them got close, they finally confirmed that the person being suspended was a middle-aged man. Judging from the outline of his face and the stylish stubble on his chin, he should be a rather handsome man.

Although he had been brutally tortured, the middle-aged man was still sober at the moment. When he saw Adams and Vivian, he cursed, “Scum! You Wanderers are the trash of the human race. Don’t even think about finding out the password of the resource room from me. The space planet that the ancestors of the human race explored is not a paradise for you to get rich!”

Vivian couldn’t help but be stunned after getting scolded for no rhyme or reason. She could guess that this middle-aged man thought they were Wanderers, but for a moment, she didn’t know how to prove her identity.

Adams, on the other hand, was able to glean some clues from the middle-aged man’s injuries. Although the middle-aged man had been tortured many times, he did not suffer any fatal wounds. This meant that the person who imprisoned him did not want to kill him. Rather, it seemed that they wanted to find out some secrets from him.

Therefore, in order to prove his identity, Adams pulled out an Arrow of Death from Vivian’s back without any hesitation and stabbed it into the middle-aged man’s thigh. As there was no Bow of Death to activate it, it did not have the special effect of spitting fire.

“Ah!” The middle-aged man who was in pain immediately shut his mouth and looked at the two people beneath in shock.

“First of all, we are not Wanderers! Next, you will give me an answer for every question I ask. If you dare utter another word of nonsense, I will pierce your throat!” Adams said coldly.

The middle-aged man endured the pain and did not speak anymore.

“Who are you? Why are you here?” Adams asked.

Instead of responding immediately, the middle-aged man hesitated. It was not until Adams lifted up the Arrow of Death again that he had no choice but to say, “Stop! My name is Constantine. I am a judge who specializes in hunting down Wanderers in exchange for the Empire’s bounty!”
