Because the inverted monopulse receiver with digital signal processor is adopted, the anti ground clutter ability of this missile is greatly increased. For the first time, it has the ability to look down and shoot down, and can effectively deal with the anti-ship missile flying across the sea.

In addition, it uses new digital computers, autopilots and fuses. The autopilot enables the rim-7m missile to fly according to the optimal trajectory. The missile will maneuver only when the target maneuvers outside a certain range, so as to save energy. Of course, our own Hongqi 61 air defense missile should reach such a level, and more importantly, it is to remove the huge launch box and replace it with a compact 8-pack mk29 box launch system.
