Chapter 13: Who Dares So Boldly? (1/2)

Seeing the foot at his calf continue to fidget, Fang Zhou decisively stood up to get more food.

It would be embarrassing to make a scene in front of everyone.

He took the opportunity to glance at the attire of those around him.

Sitting beside him were Tang Wan and Liu Hao; Liu Hao was a man, unlikely to tease him.

Tang Wan was wearing a dress. Now in early summer, the weather was neither cold nor hot, and he wondered if she would wear bare-legged undergarments.

But she had just been talking to him; could she spare the attention to tease someone?

Fang Zhou couldn’t be sure.

Sitting opposite him was Chu Xinran, whom he first ruled out.

Chu Xinran was the pure school belle; how could she possibly do such a thing in public?

From noble mtl dot come

That would be harder than asking her not to win a music competition prize.

Impossible, absolutely impossible.

The remaining suspect was Qin Yun, sitting diagonally across from him.

Qin Yun hadn’t said a word, just bowing her head to eat.

This was very unlike her style; could it be her?

Because there was something afoot, she simply chose not to speak, to avoid exposing herself?

Fang Zhou felt utterly confused, served himself food, and returned to his seat.

He wanted to use this time to observe everyone’s expressions, to see who had the audacity.

Chu Xinran, seeing him look her way, flashed a sweet smile and even asked, “Is your juice tasty?”

Seeing her silly, sweet, and pure demeanor, Fang Zhou ruled her out again.

On the other hand, Qin Yun, motionless, having barely touched her food and not noticing his scrutiny, was behaving oddly.

This act, it could only be Qin Yun’s doing, right?

This bad woman was best at being one way in front of others and another behind their backs, even having swiped his palm that afternoon.

Well, he would have to find time to talk to her, or else if this kept up, it was just too thrilling.

Moreover, with so many cameras around, it would be a disaster if this were broadcasted.

Fang Zhou retracted his gaze, focusing on his meal.

Not far away, Dong Donghui was attempting to serve Han Xi some food, but she declined with a look.

Dong Donghui’s hand, holding the food, made a round in the air before returning to his own bowl.

This action elicited laughter from the live stream audience.

“HAHAHA, I’m dying of laughter, the boss tried to serve the lady boss and failed.”

“Dong Donghui: Why is it harder to be on a love variety show than to talk business?”

“I’m dead, I see Tang Wan serving Fang Zhou quite smoothly, let’s ship this CP.”

“Here we go shipping CPs again, sisters, isn’t it too early? I’m betting on a boss duo!”

Sun Haotian, who had a couple of drinks and was feeling tipsy, was already rolling up his sleeves, ready to perform a song for everyone.

He’s a Northeasterner, and his warm and hospitable nature was fully displayed.

“If you guys don’t mind, I can sing ‘The Big Sedan Chair’!”

Following the principle that it’s foolish not to enjoy the fun, everyone applauded and cheered.

No matter how he sang, daring to perform in front of hundreds of thousands in the live stream made him a hero.

Getting into the groove, Sun Haotian started to cue others.

“Sisi, you’re a star, why don’t you sing one too!”

The first to be called was Qiao Sisi.

She was eating well, having already set down her bowl and chopsticks, when suddenly she was called to sing.

Chapter 13: Who Dares So Boldly? (2/2)

It really felt like being called by parents to perform during the New Year.

Qiao Sisi rolled her eyes internally, thinking: Big brother, I’m an actress, not a singer, what do you expect me to sing?

But she maintained a smile on her face and declined politely: “I’m not very good at it, let’s not.”

Sun Haotian had just been turned down by Han Xi and now faced a soft rejection from Qiao Sisi, which left him feeling a bit odd.

Why were today’s female guests tougher than expected?

Wasn’t it agreed that the female guests on love variety shows are supposed to be pretty and not refuse people?

He chuckled dryly, thinking he couldn’t embarrass himself, so he turned his attention to Fang Zhou, who had finished eating.

“Fang Zhou brother, how about you sing one?”

His pleading eyes almost said outright: Brother, help me out, I don’t want to lose face.

Fang Zhou didn’t expect the trouble to fall on him, the ball was unexpectedly kicked to his court.

Before he could refuse, Sun Haotian had already started egging everyone on.

“Encore! Encore!”

“Encore! Encore!”

Fang Zhou finally understood the feeling of being stuck in a difficult situation.

Sun Haotian stood up, walked over to him, and whispered, “Brother, consider this a favor you’re doing for me.”

He flashed two fingers before Fang Zhou’s eyes.

Fang Zhou’s eyes lit up. Twenty thousand? It seemed not entirely out of the question.

He countered with four fingers pressed down on top, gauging Sun Haotian’s reaction.

Sun Haotian gritted his teeth and made an OK sign, and Fang Zhou immediately understood.

He stood up, cleared his throat, and said, “Since Brother Haotian has invited me so warmly, it would be rude to refuse any further. Please bear with my humble performance.”

The production team had specially prepared instruments like guitars and ukuleles in the living room of the small villa for this very moment when the guests would showcase their talents.

Fang Zhou walked over, casually picked up a guitar, tuned it a bit, and that was pretty much it.

Everyone had almost finished their meal and turned around to listen to him sing seriously, while the camera crew switched the focus to Fang Zhou, giving him a close-up.

A serene melody began to play, instantly soothing the restless mood of the crowd.

“She noticed the lonely ones preparing to depart, and thus she prayed to the dusk.”

“Until in the night, she turned her head and heard, the sorrowful sobbing.”

“A kind-hearted woman, with long hair cascading down her shoulders.”

A tranquil voice with a magnetic quality filled the living room, like a salty sea breeze blowing in from the ocean, instantly reaching into everyone’s hearts.

People seemed to see a long-haired girl in an emerald green dress, standing on the white sands, turning back to smile at everyone with the most beautiful smile in the world.

Her name was Lillian.

Fang Zhou’s singing, with his head bowed, was both gentle and soothing, as if afraid to startle Lillian.

Along with the song, the audience too slowed their breathing, joining Fang Zhou in the search for the girl named Lillian.

The live stream viewers were instantly captivated.

“It’s so beautiful, sob sob sob, mom asked me why I’m kneeling while watching a romance show!”

“My goodness, Fang Zhou is such a dark horse, wasn’t he just a game streamer? How does he have the talent of a singer!”

“I declare, Fang Zhou is my new idol! From now on, my name will always be on his live stream leaderboard!”

The female guests present had varied expressions, as they too were drawn into the song.

Lillian symbolized the one true love, representing the years of pure love.

The woman sitting in the corner clenched her clothes tightly, silently asking herself: Fang Zhou, who is your Lillian?
