Chapter 16: The Elegant Lady Says, I’ve Been Looking for You for a Long Time (1 / 2)

The next day at noon, when Fang Zhou sat in the living room with dark circles under his eyes eating breakfast, Qi Le’s teasing remark made everyone’s gaze linger on him.

“Fang Zhou, was the cave not comfortable to sleep in? Look at you, you’re almost a national treasure.”

Liu Hao also joked, “It seems I was lucky to have taken third place yesterday, otherwise I’d be a national treasure too.”

He and Tang Wan each had a tent and slept quite peacefully.

Fang Zhou’s hand paused as he held the cup, pulling out his phone to use the screen’s reflection to observe his complexion.

“Is it really that bad?”

In the screen’s reflection, however, he unexpectedly saw Han Xi, with her narrow, fox-like eyes, expressionlessly watching his reflection.

She remained as distant as ever. Since arriving on the island, she hadn’t spoken a word to Fang Zhou, not even a greeting.

Fang Zhou was well aware of her personality and felt relieved in his heart, thankful that Han Xi was a decisive person. Once she broke up, she wouldn’t entangle further.

Indeed, after they broke up, Han Xi never sought him out, truly becoming a qualified ex, as if she had died.

He even felt that among his four ex-girlfriends, Han Xi was the easiest to deal with.

It was because of such thoughts that later, Fang Zhou paid the price for his contempt. Whenever he thought back, he felt foolish.

Hearing this, Tang Wan also turned her gaze to Fang Zhou’s face and indeed saw the two dark circles under his eyes, revealing a slight smile.

She echoed, “Yes, luckily we took third place yesterday.”

Tang Wan paused for a moment, as if to comfort Fang Zhou, and continued, “But tonight, you should be able to get a good night’s sleep.”

Fang Zhou put down his phone, continued drinking his rice porridge, and gently nodded, letting his mind wander. His gaze drifted over the dining table to Chu Xinran, who was silently gnawing on a corn cob.

She seemed to be in good spirits, laughing and chatting with Qiao Sisi next to her.

Who knows how long the sleepwalking Chu Xinran stayed by the sea last night. Thankfully, when he stood until his legs were numb and finally couldn’t hold back the urge to visit the restroom, she returned.

When Fang Zhou went back, however, he couldn’t sleep at all, tossing and turning until dawn.

Now, he felt like a scholar drained of vitality, and Chu Xinran was that mischievous fox.

“Good morning, everyone.”

After freshening up, Qin Yun came down from upstairs looking quite spirited, her radiant beauty aggressive, like a luxurious flower of the human world.

She wore a sporty outfit today, outlining her proud curves, especially those long legs, hard to ignore.

Some of the male guests’ eyes lingered on her, while others discreetly looked away.

Fang Zhou glanced at her only once before averting his gaze. This was the mature Qin Yun, possessing the capital to drive men wild.

Unfortunately, he knew that this was just a facade, like certain animals and plants in nature that emit temptations to attract their prey before hunting.

If one were to let down their guard because of Qin Yun’s glamorous appearance, she could devour you in the next moment, leaving nothing behind.

Qin Yun casually sat next to Fang Zhou, seemingly inadvertently reaching over him to grab the bread on the plate.

The woman’s long hair brushed against the back of Fang Zhou’s hand, somewhat provocative and ticklish.

Receiving the bread, Qin Yun tore it slowly and deliberately into strips before placing them into her mouth, making a meal as elegant and delicate as she was.

Sitting beside her, Fang Zhou felt as though he was facing a formidable opponent. She was merely eating bread, yet Fang Zhou felt as if she was devouring him instead.

He decisively finished his rice porridge in one gulp and stood up, ready to step out for some fresh air.

But Qin Yun called out to him.

“Fang Zhou, are you full already?”

Her voice, mature and languid, was like the sound of all the flowers falling after blooming in late spring, lazy and casual.

Fang Zhou paused, not turning back, but he answered her.

“Yeah, I’m full, you guys take your time.”

That last sentence was meant for everyone.

Qin Yun smiled and continued, “Then, could you wait for me a moment? Let’s go check out the beach volleyball court together later?”

Upon waking up that day, everyone had received the notice.

There was a beach volleyball match scheduled for the morning, and everyone was advised to prepare thoroughly and form their own teams.

Qin Yun, always one to plan ahead, expressed her concern that the production team hadn’t thoroughly inspected the site. She feared that remnants like broken glass in the sand could injure someone.

Her words immediately garnered everyone’s support.

“Sure, it’s good to check in advance to ensure everyone’s safety.”

“Mm, should I wait for you? I can go too.”

Qi Le raised his hand, seemingly eager to help.

Qin Yun glanced at him, a smile playing on her lips, “You go change your clothes first, it won’t be easy to move around later.”

Qi Le was wearing jeans, the tight kind that seemed like they might burst at any moment.

“Hahaha, true, then you guys go ahead.”

Qi Le looked down at his attire and realized it was indeed inappropriate.

Fang Zhou was different; he was dressed in sportswear, a perfect black that matched Qin Yun’s white, making them look like a couple in matching outfits.

With so many eyes on them, Fang Zhou found it hard to refuse.

After Qin Yun quickly finished her bread, they left together.

A cameraman followed them from a distance, able to see their movements but unable to hear their conversation.

So much so that Qin Yun wasn’t afraid to talk to him while walking, without worrying about being broadcasted live.

“It’s been almost a year since we last met, hasn’t it, Fang Zhou?”

Qin Yun’s voice was low, resembling the sound of a cello.

“Yeah, probably.”

Fang Zhou nodded nonchalantly, feigning indifference.

But Qin Yun laughed, turning to look at him.

“I’ve been looking for you in Henan for a long time.”

Her words were simple, yet they inexplicably pressured Fang Zhou.

He complained inwardly: It’s because you were looking for me that I left Henan, sister.

However, what he said was: “I changed my phone card and job, it’s normal that you couldn’t find me.”

“Why didn’t you contact me then? Are you that afraid of me?”

As they walked, they reached the beach volleyball court. Qin Yun squatted down, sifting through the sand as she spoke.

Although she was smiling, Fang Zhou felt no joy in her words.

His scalp tightened, the pressure in his heart suddenly mounting.

The day had finally come.

Rather than continue avoiding Qin Yun, it was better to clear the air early, to prevent her from causing trouble on the show later.

“I never initiate contact with an ex, no exceptions.”

From noble mtl dot come

“You’re the same, Qin Yun.”
