Sweeter than Fiction

Guan Ning pushed the office door and entered. Inside, he saw Su Bin sitting on the sofa, drinking tea and looking at some random magazine, while his brother is on his desk reading some documents. He closed the door behind him. Hearing the sound of the door closing, the two looked over.

Guan Ning strutted toward the big sofa and sit beside Su Bin. He poured himself some tea. The room is eerily quiet. After a while, he heard his brother cleared his throat and rose from his seat.

"Why are just coming in now? Don't you know what time is it already? I have things to do. We've been waiting for you for hours. What have you been doing?" he fired up all these questions at him, clearly not impressed.

"I overslept. I'm sorry." Guan Ning only answered.

Su Bin scoffed at him and shook his head. Guan Ning gave him a cold stare that made his heart almost get out of his chest. He's really afraid of this guy's temper. He is not used to it.

"What are we discussing about today? You know I have to be at ReadIt at this hour. It's already 8:30." Guan Ning ask as his brother take a seat at the couch in front of them.

Niu Guan Qing took a deep breath and adjusted his suit. He looked at Guan Ning squarely in the eye. "Starting next week you don't have to go to the bookstore."

"Is Father okay with it?" he arched his brow and took a sip from his tea.

Guan Qing's lips twitched and responded, "'I've talked to him about it."

Guan Ning laughed mockingly, "He's not even into the idea of me handling the company. You know what, Ge, I think we should postpone this crap…"

"Guan," his brother interjected with a cold tone. "You know I have to do this."

Su Bin looked at the brothers quietly. He's afraid to utter any word.

"You can do it. I believe in you." Guan Qing added and reached for the tea at the table. He took a sip.

Silence enveloped the office. Then Guan Qing eventually opened his mouth and said, "I believe in you… even if Father doesn't."

Guan Qing said while looking intently at his little brother. This little brother of his who only know how to goof around. But still, he believed in him. Because he knows Guan Ning's capabilities.

Guan Ning felt his heart warmed up. He's really touched by his brother's words. "Thank you, Ge," and he smiled at him faintly.

Su Bin also got touched by Guan Qing's words. He really wanted to do a standing ovation and kneel in front of Guan Qing.

Guan Qing inhaled deeply. "Okay, enough of that. Let's talk about the task at hand," he said in a serious tone and continued, "You have to meet the board next week and discuss the current and incoming projects of the company."

"Wait, Ge, did the board agreed about this setup we are making?" Guan Ning asked with furrowed brows.

"Of course. They know that you studied about business and got your master's in America."

Guan Ning nodded gently.
