The days went by and Hailey found it harder to focus on her work. She always worried if Valerian would show up. She remembered the conversation that she had with her secretary,

"Are you okay mam?"

"Yes, I am." She had replied.

"You don't look like it? What's bothering you? And it doesn't look like it."

Hailey sighed, "There is someone who might show up out the blue, so I am a bit jittery."

"It doesn't look that way to me, mam."

Hailey had been confused, "What do you mean?"

"Well, think about it. Is it because he will show up unexpected or he will never show up again and disappear from your life. Then you won't ever see him again?"

Hailey came back to the present and wondered if that was really the truth. She had a point, she had wondered where he was because she hadn't see Valerian for so long. She had tried to brush it off but it kept on gnawing at her.

Every time she would have to see someone she thought that it was Valerian. Or had he gone back and stopped pursuing her, she thought she would feel relief but she had so many doubting thoughts that kept on stirring in her relentlessly.

"Mam, there is someone to see you."

Haileys felt a huge mixture of emotions swirling in her when she saw Valerian emerge. He sat opposite her and she wanted to ask him where he was all this time? But why did she want to do that? She was supposed to feel something else at the fact that he had appeared now in her office unannounced yet she felt great relief that he was sitting opposite her.

She looked him over and saw that he looked well taken care of. His suit fit very well, and when he raised his eyebrow she blushed furiously. They had just caught her in the act of checking him out. How much more could this be embarrassing for her?

Neither one of them spoke, and she shifted a bit. She wondered what was going through his mind but she didn't ask.

"How I miss this."

"What?" she replied instantly.

"I missed sitting across you and seeing you every day. It was all those small little things that made me truly happy Hailey. Seeing your smile, and being able to call you when I missed you."

"Oh."

"And now being able to see you, and be sitting across you. You are within my grasp and I want to hold on to you."

Hailey looked at him then, "I have also…"

Before Hailey could finish her sentence the door to her office shot open. Alex walked in and smiled at her. He looked at the exchange oddly.

When Alex pressed a kiss on her cheek, she saw Valerian's jaw clench.

"I will be done soon Alex."

"Okay, let me know if you need anything. I am right here."

"Okay." She replied.

Alex turned to Valerian, "Good day."

"Likewise," Valerian replied.

Alex turned once more towards her, "I will see you soon."

Hailey just nodded and watched him walk out of the office.
