THAT DAY I BECAME A STAR

Chapter 242 - CHAPTER 242: REBECCA’S FAMILY (1)

"Sir, can you tell us something? As the ace of this quarter-final, you should have something to say as well, right?"

"Nope."

"W-what?"

"I don't have anything to say."

The presenter as well as the people of the coliseum all turn silent. Did I say something weird? I turn around but neither Frankher nor the others seem to be acting as if I did something wrong.

"Sir, you managed to defeat two students from Mohana academy and even showed us an incredible script. Are you truly sure you have nothing to say?"

"Yep. Absolutely nothing."

Without minding the numerous remarks of the people, I walk out of the coliseum, followed by Frankher and the others.. It is a thunder of applause that follows us as we do.

"What was that arrogance? How dare he say we are weak!!"

"I told you it was just a provocation so calm down."

After we are back to our dorm, Esteressa is commenting furiously about the hammer hands's remark. Although I agree with Cordel on the fact that it was just a provocation. I must admit that…

"What do you think, Kevin?" She asks me with her face close enough for me to smell a delicate aroma coming from her.

"You put perfume?" I never would have thought that Esteressa would be one to put on things like perfume.

"Did you really have to ask that? you perv. Cordel, he is smelling me."

"I am not a dog."

"You shouldn't have gone that close to him then." Thankfully, Cordel reprimands her as well, giving me some space.

While we are leisurely talking, sadly without the heroes, somebody knocks on the door. As the door opens, I feel suddenly a little weird. A butler then enters and introduces himself. a Titanie.

"Dear sirs, I am sorry to bother you so late. I am-"

"They can enter, it is okay."

"I see. Thank you, Sir Frankher."

As Frankher gives him the permission to do whatever, the butler opens the other door and then four other people enter. All of them being titanies and one of them being another butler. That butler is pushing an old man on a wheelchair who has eyes as white as snow. He must be blind. The two other people are a girl almost my age, or maybe, and older and a man, certainly younger than doggy.

As soon as they enter the living room, something weird happens. The old blind man turns his head and looks at me. Can I really say he is looking though?

"We greet you, sir Frankher, Miss Keltia, and her friends."

"I see you are still doing fine, you withered branch." The old man in the wheelchair talks to somebody while still looking at me. Is he talking to me?

"Not as well as you, old fool." AH, okay, he was talking to Frankher. Is he that old for somebody else to call him withered branch?

"Father, please, your language." The man tries to apologize but the old one doesn't seem to mind his own way of talking.

"What? My own daughter refused to talk to me so at least I should be able to complain here, right?"

"She refused once again?" Who refused what? What are those guys talking about?

Keltia makes a sign and the others start leaving the room. I follow them but I stop at the door because of something I hear.

"Rebecca must really be afraid."

"Well, we are also to blame so…"

"Rebecca?" I turn around but Keltia who is behind me blocks my sight. Those guys just mentioned Rebecca? Could it be…

"Are you guys part of-"

"No, Kevin, not now." Keltia places her hands on my mouth and continues to push me out of the room.

"Hm! Hm! What are you doing?!"

"You should not intervene. Not in this matter."

"Who are they?" If those guys are from Rebecca's family, then how come I never saw them? I know that she didn't talk much about it but still.

"It's the saintess's family initially, the TENDRIL."

"Initially?"

"Just leave it at that, it is really complicated." Or maybe you just don't want to talk about it.

***

"I hope to see you well again next time."

"You better not because then I would be as old as stiff speech."

After a while, I hear Frankher exchanging greetings with the old man then the door opens and closes. Frankher then comes to the dining room where we were waiting and sit with us.

"Who were they, Sir?" At least for once, you are useful, Peter.

"The family of the Saintess. The Tendril."

"Isn't the Tendril a first-class nobility."

"Their great grandfather was the cousin of the royal family of Titanium, yes."

So basically, Rebecca was a noble here. Can't really say I am surprised seeing how she behaved.

"I didn't know our headmaster had such deep relationships with Titanium I thought Syldavie hated this kingdom." Esteressa launches an aggressive comment and the mood of the room immediately changes.

"You aren't wrong, Miss Vonild. I must admit that Syldavie isn't the most welcoming country for you. But in this case, it is not a matter of politics that drew us together."

"Then what is it?"

"The death of my nephew."

Everyone looks at Keltia whose face has darkened.

"Sigh…Before becoming the Saintess, Rebecca Tendril was married to my son, so to speak. The Tendril didn't approve of this marriage at the beginning and even refused to come when she conceived her first child."

Frankher's eyes become a little wet. And here comes the most annoying part.

"But after she lost her child-"

"She didn't lose him."

"What?" Without thinking, I already spoke when I heard Frankher saying that she lost me. She fucking abandoned me!!

"Kevin, what are you-"

"That woman didn't lost her child, SHE ABANDONED HIM. She and her husband. Do not change the truth."

"And how, pray tell, do you know that?"

"Why would I not know about it?"

"Because it isn't a wild spread truth. The church itself has made sure that not a lot of people would know about it. So, it's either that you are directly related to them or you are a spy. In which case…"
