THAT DAY I BECAME A STAR

Chapter 287 - CHAPTER 287: FRONT LINES (3)

An hour later, i think I have slain around fifty Longinus or so. Since I mostly take care of prator, I kill less than the others. Willhem especially is on fire.

"Ahaha!!! Come on! Come on! Come on!" He is skewering all the Longinus and Longinus men around him with his rapier like crazy.

The others are just as strong. Getting through everything with ease. I really wonder if it should feel that easy. Also, I am sure of it now, something is wrong with the crystals.. I got the chance to see one of them being swallowed by the earth like nothing. And when it did, I felt a new presence from it. Right now, there are about fifteen pack of crystals here and there on the battlefield.

Right as I finish counting those, the ground starts vibrating in some places and mount of soils emerge.

"It's the Kirsuks!!! Take formation!"

Some soldiers scream orders and the line starts dividing, becoming squares masses of individuals instead. Kirsurk… The book describes it as a small parasitic Longinus that could grow in size by absorbing crystals filled Angas. So they were the ones stealing the crystals that fell on the ground. It's difficult for me to pinpoint a particular Longinus with all those around so I wouldn't have known myself.

The mounts of soil break and let appear Longinus that look like giant crabs. About the size of a house.

"Kriekkk!!!" Their welcoming scream is quite powerful and I can also feel a great amount of crystals in their bodies.

"Do they even have a weakness?" It must be hard to kill with so many crystals in his body.

"Krieekk!"

Suddenly, a black dot appears in front of some of them and soon after, a blazing black fireball is released on the different groups of soldiers packed together. However, those groups get covered by a dome of light on which the fireball crashed mercilessly but without causing any damage.

"Now fire!!"

"Kriekk!!"

At the same time as the soldiers start firing their bolts and arrows on the Kirsurks, another prator comes to me. I jump to evade him and see something. Those kirsurks have some kind of armor that protect their heads. As soon as the soldiers started firing, it closes around it and protect them. Though I think they don't see anything as well. Still, this could be advantageous.

***

Although the Kirsurks have appeared, the Longinus don't stop their advance. I guess it is because of something similar that the group we annihilated earlier managed to pass through. Looking at the mortar which are still firing with ecstasy, I see the rear lines that is supposedly in charge of protecting the mortars getting busy now.

"So, that's why they are here, huh."

"Hey, capt'. What do we do?" Willhem has stopped his killing frenzy for a moment. It's hard to know if he has killed a lot if you don't see him fighting because apart from the sweat, there is no blood left behind.

"About what?"

"about those. They look strong."

"Krieek!"

A vanguard comes to us and is sent to his maker.

"Well, I don't know. You think you can handle them?"

"Hell yeah!! You know what? Let's make it a competition between you and me. There are fifteen of them, right. The first to kill eight wins. You on?"

"Krie-"

"Argh, shut up for a bit." I kill a Sloin then looks at Willhem's shining eyes. They are brimming with the desire to kill. "okay. The game is on."

"Great! I am taking the dog by the way."

"What?!! Why?!!"

"Cause I can't fly so I must give you a handicap."

"Shit, fine."

"Alright!"

Willhem jumps to K'nor and sits on him. Surprisingly enough, K'nor doesn't reject him and starts running in direction of a kirsurk.

"He must have received a treat, I guess."

"Krie-" I kill another vanguard then fly to another kirsurk who has just opened the armor protecting its head. It must be about to fire.

As I go above him, the black dot appears. Now is the time to strike. I bring out my raizen in my bracelet and call out the Raizen. A freefall should be enough.

"Krieekk!!"

Right as the kirsurk releases his fireball, my Raizen buries into its head so deep my hands also touch it. Like a last reflex, the armor protecting its head tries to close but stop midway. Then the giant crab sway and falls.

"Stay focus!! Keep shooting!!"

I hear a guy giving orders behind me. It's true that I didn't receive any arrows while killing the Longinus.

"That's one!!!"

I scream loudly to make sure that Willhem hears it. When I fly back to the sky, I see him evading the claw of the kirsurk by jumping. Meanwhile, K'nor is bombarding its head's armor with wind balls and the soldiers are shooting powerful arrows as well. It will rapidly fall so I…

I suddenly a flickering sound behind me. When I turn around, the black fireball is already on me.

"Shit." I got careless. I use Sphere ad take the hit. I am unscathed but that was dangerous.

"Krieeek!!!"

However, it is not over. It seems being the first to kill the kirsurk gave a signal to all the others. All the fire balls are aimed at me now.

It becomes a festival in the sky as I evade them while firing bullets at one kirsurk or another whenever I am close. Though it does close to no effect. Their armor is extremely tough. But even if it is, those joints at the claws and legs aren't, I am sure. I can see it with the weakness' eyes.

After evading another fire ball, I aim at the leg's joints of a kirsurk which is more exposed. Two bullets there and the joint is destroyed, destabilizing it as it was about to shoot again. This time, the fire ball goes off towards the longinus but none of them are killed.

"Figured." It is an attack made of Regas so it wouldn't kill them, of course. Though it doesn't seem to particularly strengthen them either.

I fly to the kirsurk I destabilized just now. While it is trying to stand up, using left its claw as a stick. Sadly for you, there is a joint there too.

"Kriekk!!" I blow it up and while it falls down, it receives my Raizen in the head. Once again, I was faster than its protective armor.

"That's one!!" I hear Willhem 's voice among the numerous screams and shouts of the battlefield. So, I am ahead of one Longinus. I should make haste then.

"That's two here!!"

I fly from the dead kirsurk which has started degrading already. The numerous crystals it has absorbed appear from its stomach while I leave it alone. He really absorbed an impressive amount of it. There must be like a hundred crystals there. No, possibly even more.

In any case, there are 12 kirsurks still standing. Some of them are still targeting the group of soldiers so I will take care of them first. My next prey is still receiving the arrows from the soldiers after shooting its fireball. I should test to see whether or not I can break through that armor now.

I land on it and make a simple strike first. Though it doesn't breach, I make a clear and visible crack on the armor covering its head. So Raizen is strong to do so by itself. That's great. But it is not enough. To defeat Tatiana and give her a taste of hell, I will need it to be even more powerful.

"And now to finis-" A claw comes out of nowhere and almost hits me. I had Sphere on to deal with the incoming arrows and bolts of the soldiers. Those bastards didn't bother to stop shooting when I came on the monster.

I fly around and discover that a second kirsurk had moved close to me and the one I was about to kill. So now, I have two for the price of one.

"Sweet."

I create seven bullets and give it to them. This time, the two kirsurks raise their claws. Using them as shields, they receive my bullets without much damage. I should have aimed for their legs joints again. That's seven shots missed for nothing. Excafol would certainly smack the back of my head if he saw this.

"Krieekkk!!!!"

Then, they both arm a fire ball but right as they are to shoot them, I give them each two bullets. The conflict between the bullets and their fire balls creates a big explosion that cover their faces. After that, they fall on the downside of their stomach. Both dead.

"That's four here!!!"

I scream as loud as I can, making sure that not only Willhem but everyone hears it. At the same time, I see another one falling to an attack.

"It's two here, dammit!!" Willhem's voice resounds on the battlefield. And he is pissed off. Well, don't be discouraged. I am just better at this.
