THAT DAY I BECAME A STAR

"Well, well. This looks really stupid." 

Fifteen mortars behind me, firing at the fort without damaging it yet. An army of Longinus in front of me, thankfully without kirsurks. There are prators, dalls, sloins and vanguards coming though. And here I am, standing as the only line of defence separating them. I wonder since when I started loving death so much I would seek her that much.

"Oh ,well, nothing I can do about it anymore, right?" 

"Kriek-"

I pounce on the Longinus and slay a vanguard with a bullet. If I could use my draconic powers and Cissa right now, I would feel more secure but I don't need to think about it. I will do what I can do and the rest will follow.

I create eleven bullets and send them everywhere on the Longinus. There is no need to aim since they are everywhere around me. A sloin comes and get his head severed in two. A dall tries to slap me with his tail while another is trying to bite me. I use Disperse and let them hit each other then I use Lumion on them and they both die. 

"Kriekk!" 

Sadly, I have let down my guard for a moment so a prator slaps me to the ground. 

"Ack!" 

My vision blurries a bit from the hit but I can't rest. There are other Longinus coming. I deploy Sphere and it receives three attacks from vanguards and a sloin. Then I fly above them and spot some Longinus going to the mortars. A bombardment of ten crescent bullets does the trick and slay that group.

I free fall on the others and kill the prator who slapped me. 

"Krieekk!!"

"Kriekkk!!" 

Longinus are coming from all side but it is no use. I cut through them with Raizen then go to another prator. His head is blown apart by bullets and as he falls. 

"Shadow stab!" 

I reduce two sloins to ashes with a single attack. Alright, so far, so good.

"Krieek-"

"Shut up already!" 

I kill another sloin but then another cuts my leg. Though their numbers has diminished a little, it has become more difficult to evade their attacks. Willhem aren't even close to come here, I am sure. They must be overwhelmed with the Longinus as well. I hope K'nor is okay. 

Yes, that's right. I must defeat all those guys and go to K'nor.

"You guys are in the way!!"

"Kriekk!!" 

As if they heard what I was thinking, a kirsurk appears, killing some vanguards in the process of coming out of the ground. Damn it all!!

As soon as it appears, it creates a black fireball and fires it at a mortar.

"No!!" 

Before I can do anything, the mortar is engulfed in the flames and explodes loudly. The explosion is so powerful the two mortars on each side of it sway but by miracle don't fall.

"Fuck it!!" 

I fly up but the kirsurk's claw knocks me back to the ground before I can evade it. Some dirt and blood gets in my eye as I stand back up. Still, I can hear them pretty clearly. Another salve of mortars' shots is released while I lift my head. The number of Longinus has definitively diminished. Could it be.

"Kriekkk!!" 

"Sever the sky!!" 

I release my most powerful horizontally and it massacres its way through the Longinus. Only the kirsurk stays up as it cut only half way through its enormous feet. That was a bad choice there however. I clearly felt my Angas decreasing from that attack. I won't last long if I do it another time. Still, I have dealt great damage to their numbers. I should be able to finish them at this rate.

I fly up and what I see brings back hope to my face. First, there are no more Longinus coming out of the fort. Which by the way is totally in flames now. And two, they are coming. Not only K'nor, I see seven people as well, coming out through the city's gates, slaughtering the Longinus on their way. 

"Oh yeah!!!" Now, it is a race against time. What will happen first? Will they reach my position before I am finished with all those? Or will I be standing there, victorious?

"Krieek!!" 

Another shot of the kirsurk, which misses me by a hair's tread, reminds me of the task at hand. 

"There is only way to know, I guess."

"Kriekk!!" 

"Take this!!" 

"Krieek!!" 

"Argh!!"

My fight has turned into a ugly mess now. I am not trying to evade the Longinus anymore. I just give and receive at they come. The end result of it: Willhem and co still aren't here. There are only ten mortars still standing and one is being attacked again. And the best part: there are now two kirsurks who have replaced the one I killed. I would like to say that they are the last ones but since I did that for the other one and those two appeared, I would prefer to not fight four others right now.

"You guys are way too persistent!!" I cut a Sloin with Raizen then shoot the leg of a kirsurk with bullets. It flies off to the air while a dall tries to smack my face with his tail. I block it with Sphere then cut off his tail. 

"Kriekk!!"

Yeah, you will think again before trying that. I give him Lumion, together with a vanguard that was in my field of vision as well. 

"Take that, you f-"

The second kirsurk fires its fireball at me and it breaks Sphere.

"Argh!!" Fuck!! This thing burns as much as that last time! I fly away from it while shooting three bullets at the kirsrurk's head. But his head's armor protects him quite good. Though it still staggered him.

"Krieek!!" A sloin comes from behind me and evade my strike. Shit! His sharp claws embedded themselves in me, one in my thigh and the other through my lungs. 

"Uagh!! You fucking!!" I kneed him upwards then blow his head with a bullet. I didn't control it so the explosion is more powerful than I expected. I am projected back and disoriented right now. I just mess up big right there. 

They will surely all pounce on me right now. So I should give them…

"Capt'!!" Among the numerous Longinus's scream, the mortar's sounds and every other things, I hear the sound of relief. You guys really took your fucking sweet time coming, huh.

"Why in hell are you guys here?!!" I fire bullets everywhere and they explode with the strength of a gnoll. I put my all into those ones after all. 

"What?!! You thought I would let you get all the pleasure alone?!" 

My vision is back and I see Willhem piercing a Sloin's head, right in the eys, while K'nor is slapping a vanguard with his paw. Isn't it dangerous for him to do that? Well, he can use Angas so I don't think I need to worry.

"You guys are just a bunch of idiots!!" 

"And so are you!!" 

Like a fresh breeze of life came to caress me, I feel my body being refreshed by those words. He is right, I am an idiot. Taking on so much alone even though fleeing would have been so easy. But I am glad to know that an idiot like me still has people who would come for him in cases like this one. Even if they are as stupid as I am.

"Now, we can start the real challenge!! Let see who get the last kill, guys!!" 

"It's obvious that it will be me!!" 

I motivate them all and we start cleaning up the place. WIllhem and the others aren't in a better state than mine. All of them are wounded. Even K'nor has parts of his armor missing and there is blood flowing from the left side of his stomach. I hope this is not a serious wound. Even if it is, I will heal it. 

"I guess I should do it now." 

I didn't want to try that since I am somehow disconnected from Cissa but I guess I have no other choice. 

"Kriieek-"

I kill a vanguard then grab his crystal and put it in my mouth. The way too sweet nectar hits me in the throat and I feels revitalized. I am still not used to that sweetness. I wonder why it is sweet? Does that mean Angas is sweet? Or maybe I am the only one for who it tastes that way? It's not like I know if anybody else has ever tasted Angas to begin with so…

Anyway, less thinking, more fighting. We are almost done. I cut my way through the kirsurk who burned me earlier and jump while slicing his claw.

"Kriekk!!" 

"You got the honor for the last strong one, capt'!!! Do it!!" 

While I am in the air, I look down and indeed, most of the remaining Longinus have been taken care of. Willhem has dealt with the wounded kirsurk before me. So, once I am done, it's our win.

"Ahaha!!" You guys are great!!

"Krieekk!!!" 

"Since you like flame so much…" I call out Raizen with only fire Angas, I also create ten bullets made of fire Angas only. "I hope you will be satisfied with this!!" 

I send the ten bullets down then fall on the kirsurk's head. They blow off their armor and right after that, among the explosions, Raizen enters its head.

"Kriekk!!!"

The thing screams madly while trying to grab me with its remaining claw but I bury it deeper and it finally stops moving. After it falls to the ground, I raise my flaming script in the air in sign of victory.

"Ahhhhhh!!!!!" I start screaming like a madman for nothing. I don't even know why I am doing this. But as I am with other idiots!!!" 

"Uogh!!!!!" The all start screaming as well.

"Awooo!!!"

Even K'nor joins us idiots. Anybody can say what he wants right now but, we have won. And that is what matters right now.
