THAT DAY I BECAME A STAR

After the soldiers left, I start thinking that maybe I should break some bones on that commander. And I am clearly not the only one.

"That fucking bastard! Insulting us like this!"

"Who does he even think he is?!"

"Damn it's hot."

It hasn't even been thirty minutes and we can hear the explosions and screams of the battle going on already. It seems they were well received by the Longinus. I just hope they are okay.

"How long do you think it will take?"

Hendrick asks Willhem who then unsheathes his rapier and starts drawing on the ground.

"If they use arrow tactic formation, around one hour to pierce through and reach the dome.. But seeing as they were too heavily armed, they will certainly use a tortoise-based formation."

"I agree as well." Davy has once again moved from his group to ours and start discussing about formations with Willhem.

I don't know much about all those so I will abstain myself. Though I wonder if I would learned all that at the eternal academy if I stayed there… Nah, it's no use thinking about it now.

"Hey, who left a kid here?"

Out of nowhere, a woman comes to me. A titanie, wearing a pink armor. It looks awful on her. She is big though. She is as tall as Germinia, which is a rare sight, and has muscles as well. A lot of muscles. Wait, is she really a woman? She has long hair and a somehow still womanly-looking face so I guess she is a woman.

"And you are?" She has somehow managed to bring attention to me again.

"I don't give my name to kids. You should leave. This isn't playground you know."

"Leave him alone Greta." Hendrick comes to us and stands before the woman. Why? I could have handled her easily.

"Oh, is he your kid? I didn't know your child was already that big? And you just had to make him become a mercenary. What a waste of a life."

"Sigh…Does he even look like me?"

"Wait, so it's Fiz's child? One thing is for sure, it can't be Willhem's child, right?"

"Are you pos-" Let's cut it there.

"Nice to meet you. I am Kevin Dragonroad."

"Dragonshit?" For no reason whatsoever, she changes my name into something completely unrelated.

"No, Dragonroad." Come on, tale my hand already.

"What kind of name is that?" She looks at the hand that I have extended to her and after thinking for a while, she grabs it with her big hand. Her hand is bigger than mine. Even more so with her armor. But it doesn't matter.

I press it all down and by the time the armor starts deforming.

"Oh, aren't you an interesting little kid."

She answers in kind. But unlike me, she uses her physical Angas which is not out of the ordinary if I have to tell the truth. We look at each other eyes while the sound of her armor breaking makes up for a good melody in my ears. You dare insult the name I was given by Cissa? I should actually break your arms and legs for that but I can see your partners looking. Since we are going to cooperate, it would be annoying to have backstabbers later on.

"Okay, okay. You win, kid." After a while, when blood starts pouring out of her now slightly deformed hand, she stops using Angas.

"I believe I told you my name." I continue pressing her hand.

"Hey, kid. I said that was enough." She looks at me with menacing eyes but she isn't intimidating anyone. In fact, I go on even harder now. "Argh!! You shitty kid!" I finally got to make you scream. That's the first step.

She tries to punch me with her other hand but I hold it as well and start the same process.

"I. Believe. I told you. My. Name."

Her right hand starts cracking as well and I force her to go on her knees.

"Argh!! Okay!! Okay! It's Dragonroad, right?!!"

"Nope." Her right hand also starts dripping blood.

"Argh!! Dammit!! Kevin Dragonroad!! Kevin Dragonroad!! It's that, right?!"

"Good." I smile at her and release her hands. "See, it wasn't that hard, right?"

"Sigh…Kids nowadays can't even take jokes anymore." The woman stands back up and turns around. "Hey, Lucy. Heal me up please."

She calls out to another woman who is wearing a robe, just like a priest. A white robe with a hood as well. There really are different kinds of people here.

"Ah?!! Why the hell would I do that when you went and hurt yourself all alone."

While the two women engage in a heated discussion. I see another one looking at me. She is wearing a pretty light but sturdy-looking armor. She has the same body as Lanuvel. The only difference is her black hair and eyes.

"Anyway…" I guess I will have to be wary of that group.

"Alright!! We move out!"

A bit more than two hours after the army went ahead, a fireball flies into the sky and explodes loudly. It must be the signal since we all start moving.

All the mercenaries start running and a clear difference appears in the speed of each individual. K'nor is the first on the list. But I am not jealous. Nope, not at all. I am behind him together with Willhem. Hendrick is following us closely, together with the muscle woman, the one who was looking at me, the old Davy, and three other guys. The rest is of the people form a pretty compacted group.

It is just annoying that we have to do this now when we could have just waited near them.

"Krieekk!"

A lone vanguard appears after about five minutes of running. He gets immediately dispatched by K'nor with a wind ball.

"Wow!! You seen what that dog did?!!" The muscle woman reacts to it with a high pitched voice that doesn't fit with her big body. There are other reactions as well but it doesn't matter.

We continue advancing, with the dome appearing from time to time within the trees. It looks brighter so they must have certainly managed to either weaken or open it.

"Kriekk!!"

"Focus on the sides!!"

Before reaching the plain where the fight is taking place, the numerous Longinus I can feel seems to be maintained in a way that leaves a clear field for us. It seems that the commander isn't that incompetent.

After K'nor, I step into the plain, and like I thought, there is a clear hallway that the soldiers made for us. Also, I see some Longinus flying around. It must be the heroes. Excia's mortar shot-like arrows resound together Roxcia scripts. It seems they are both to the left side. So Farner must be to the right. I wonder where Lanuvel is.

"Sir!! They have arrived!!"

As The second group composed of Hendrick and the others arrive, a soldier screams and the commander jumps over the line created by the soldiers. He is however followed by a sloin that jumps right after him.

"Behind you!"

Before anybody else can react, I fire a bullet at the sloin and its head explodes, leaving a crystal that falls back behind the line.

The commander and without any kind of thanks, head to the dome. The dome isn't actually open yet. Soon after him, Rebecca appears as well, together with Farner. They both jump above the lines of soldiers. Farner is wearing a short under her skirt. It seems she knew she would have to jump around.

"Saintess, you are up now!!"

The commander screams at Rebecca and she starts glowing. Only now do I notice that there is not the usual light around characteristic when she uses her script.

Farner takes a stance with her sword and Rebecca places her hand on it.

"MEETIA'S STRENGTH!!" 

"THE PATH TO VICTORY!!" 

Farner's sword starts glowing from Rebecca's script then as Farner brings it down, her powerful script goes and hits the dome. The commander had already moved away. I didn't have the time to notice since I was focused on Farner and Rebecca combination.

"Wow!!"

"Incredible!"

To think that for something that required numerous people to do,  Alphonse and I included, to do took only a hero and the saintess to do. I am really not there yet.

"What are you guys waiting for?!!!" The commander doesn't let us admire the heroes' strength anymore.

Willhem goes first, and I follow him. K'nor is right next to me. The dust that was raised by Farner's script has even settled yet that we are already in. Well, it is true that this thing closes pretty fast.

"Good luck."

"Thanks. See you later." Farner wishes me luck with the bright smile of a confident hero when I run past her.

Yup, that was a very good charm. I can't go and kick the bucket inside now, can I?

"Alright, let's do this." I run in the smoke and enter the dome. I will kill some Longinus inside and stock on crystals first.
