The Admiral of Hogwarts
#164 - Casualties
The Bludger, after shattering Lockhart's shoulder blade, ascended vertically to a height of five or six stories. Then, after pausing in the air, it activated the command inputted during its manufacture, crashing towards the nearest person.
On the ground, Hugo and the others clearly saw the Bludger fly into the air, pause for a moment, and then, with a whoosh, plummet heavily towards the crowd.
"Ah—" Seeing the Bludger shoot into the sky and then hurtle back down towards them, the students surrounding Lockhart simultaneously raised their hands to protect their heads, screaming and scattering in all directions.
In the distance, the Weasley twins, witnessing this scene, immediately rushed over, wielding their bats, attempting to help everyone. However, due to the distance, intercepting the Bludger before its first impact was clearly impossible.
"Hah!" Just as the Bludger was about to strike someone, Vineto immediately dashed towards its point of impact, and just before it hit a girl's head, she clamped her hands together, firmly seizing the Bludger.
"Ha— Thank you, thank you so much!" The girl, who had instinctively covered her head and crouched on the ground trembling, stood up and repeatedly thanked Vineto upon realizing that the ball hadn't struck her.
At this moment, Hugo noticed that the student Vineto had saved was Padma from their own house.
"Twenty points to Miss Vineto for her commendable action in assisting a classmate," Madam Hooch said, hurrying over from where she had been organizing equipment. Simultaneously, she took the Bludger from Vineto's hands and returned it to the box.
During this process, several students noticed deep indentations on the Bludger, as if Vineto had squeezed them into the metal with her fingers.
"I seem to recall hearing that Miss Vineto joined the Ravenclaw Quidditch team this year," Wood said, having seen the deep handprints embedded in the Bludger. He immediately approached Davis, a Ravenclaw Quidditch player standing closest to him, to inquire.
"Yes, but she's only a reserve," Davis replied. Considering the relationship between their house and Gryffindor, Davis didn't intend to create suspense in this regard.
"You know, some teams have such a dirty playing style that we have to resort to extreme tactics to curb attacks against our team members."
Of the four Hogwarts Quidditch teams, Slytherin was known throughout the school for using any means necessary to win.
If other teams merely skirted the edge of the rules, Slytherin seized every opportunity to resort to foul play. Therefore, after Davis said this, Wood immediately understood what Davis meant.
"Oh, I understand," Wood said, nodding, a look of comprehension on his face.
"So, Miss Vineto is actually like our Harry from last year, a secret weapon for your Ravenclaw team, but specifically for dealing with those unsportsmanlike guys who only know how to play dirty."
"Yes, that's exactly it," Davis said, shrugging. "The reason for doing this is simple: Miss Vineto can't control her strength for the time being, so she's not very suitable for playing in ordinary matches."
"Uh—you're right," Wood nodded. "That's indeed a very good choice—"
Just as Wood was about to say something to ease the atmosphere, a scream from Lockhart interrupted his conversation with Davis.
It turned out that after the danger was averted, several of Lockhart's loyal fans had surrounded him, beginning to inquire about his injuries. In their excitement, Lockhart cast a healing spell on his fractured area, believing it would be effective.
The spell naturally failed, and Lockhart unfortunately turned his injured shoulder blade and a large area of surrounding bone as brittle as chalk, resulting in extensive fractures when he accidentally moved.
And when his fans tried to rescue him clumsily, they caused him tons of damage.
This led to Madam Hooch feeling somewhat helpless when facing Lockhart, who was as fragile as glass. Finally, on Vineto's suggestion, she and several older students carefully levitated Lockhart on a large bronze goblet and slowly sent him towards the hospital wing.
"Healing magic is not something to be used carelessly, Mr. Lockhart," Madam Pomfrey said, shaking her head helplessly as she looked at Lockhart suspended on the large bronze goblet.
"So you can only stay here for one night. I need at least twelve hours to restore the resilience of your bones."
Those floating, liquid-like substances were a special magical tool in the hospital wing. Because of the existence of magic, there were quite a few patients whose bodies couldn't touch anything before healing was complete. Therefore, magical tools like this goblet were created specifically to provide a long-term, zero-gravity environment for those patients.
"It was just a mistake. After all, it was raining at the time, and—" After hearing Madam Pomfrey's words, Lockhart immediately began to defend himself.
But soon, Madam Pomfrey completely shut him up with a potion that looked like green paste.

"Will Professor Lockhart be alright?" one of the fans who had come to chase after the star asked Madam Pomfrey, looking at Lockhart, whose face was twisted with bitterness from the potion.
"The problem shouldn't be too big, but he might not have a very comfortable night tonight," Madam Pomfrey said, poking Lockhart's injured area repeatedly with her wand. As she continued to cast spells, the areas that had been deformed by the injury slowly began to recover.
"A fraud is a fraud, and he can never become real," Hermione whispered as she was chased out of the hospital wing, having joined Hugo and the others on the way to the hospital wing to watch the excitement.
"Lockhart is the most useless wizard I've ever seen. He's simply a disgrace to Ravenclaw—"
"If you put it that way, there are quite a few disgraces to Ravenclaw," Hugo said, looking around to make sure no one else was nearby, and then whispered to his sister.
"At least, according to the information I've found, when the Dark Lord was in power, the proportion of Death Eaters from Ravenclaw was second only to Slytherin."
"Is that true?" Hermione asked, looking at Hugo in surprise. She had always thought that Ravenclaw students were just gentle scholars with a few quirks at most. She couldn't associate them with the brutal, murderous, and destructive Death Eaters.
"It's true," Hugo nodded. "Don't forget that most of the Ravenclaw students come from pure-blood families, so it's not abnormal to follow the Dark Lord, who represents the interests of pure-blood families."
"What you said—makes sense," Hermione lowered her head and thought for a moment before sighing. The Granger family was at least a relatively wealthy family, and she herself was a precocious girl.
Therefore, after a brief thought, Hermione immediately understood why Ravenclaw had produced so many Death Eaters.
