The Admiral of Hogwarts
#246 - Raid
"Are we there yet?" Hermione asked curiously, closing her book. She had noticed the train was slowing down, and it was dark outside.
"I don't think so." Enterprise said, taking out her wand and standing up. "This place is still about 20 minutes away from Hogsmeade Station. Something's not right."
Both the memories in her mind and her combat experience made Enterprise realize the situation was abnormal. So, wand in hand, she stood up from the window seat and walked towards the carriage door.
Just as Enterprise warily reached the door, the train screeched to a halt. Then, the dim yellow lights in the carriage flickered twice and went out.
"Loud and clear!" Enterprise decisively cast a spell on herself and shouted loudly. "Everyone, sit in your seats and close your compartment doors! Do not appear in the corridor!"
The moment the lights went out, the students on the train immediately became noisy.
Fortunately, Enterprise's shout, combined with the prestige she gained from single-handedly killing the Basilisk last year, allowed her to quickly control the situation on the train. Then, Enterprise waved her wand and relit all the lights that had just gone out.
Although illuminating oneself in most nighttime battles is a foolish act, considering that the creatures attacking this time do not rely on sight, reducing panic by turning on the lights was the first priority.
However, even with the return of light, everyone on the train remained uneasy. Because the entire carriage seemed to be immersed in water, becoming chillingly cold, with a piercing coldness gradually seeping into the entire body from the soles of their feet.
Hugo noticed that the three ladies in the carriage did not look well, but he also knew that the two ship girls were only pretending, actually taking the opportunity to move to the window and door, ready to launch a fatal attack on anyone who entered.
"What exactly is going on?" Hermione grabbed Hugo's hand, her breathing becoming rapid. "Don't worry, Professor Halsey is still outside," Hugo said, gently squeezing his sister's hand to reassure her.
"Stop! Get off the train! There are only students in these carriages. You have no right to extract joy in this place!" Enterprise's voice suddenly boomed throughout the entire train.
Not far from her, a Dementor ignored Enterprise's warning and slowly took a breath towards the last compartment in the carriage. This breath was long and slow, and trembling, as if trying to inhale something other than air from the surroundings.
"Expecto Patronum!" After realizing that the Dementor was ignoring her warning, Enterprise pointed her wand at the evil monster and recited the incantation.
Instantly, a blinding white light shot out from Enterprise's wand, then transformed into a bald eagle made of light, charging straight at the Dementor standing at the end of the corridor.
The two collided silently, and the light from the bald eagle washed over the black monster like a wave. In the dazzling light, the Dementor began to disintegrate.
First, the outermost tattered robe turned into pieces, and then the Dementor's body, like a rotten corpse, also disintegrated bit by bit, like a wax figure dropped into a hot pot.
After completely killing the Dementor, the bald eagle Patronus flew out of the train's open back door, driving away all the Dementors who had become somewhat out of control due to the death of their companion.
"Professor Halsey, this Dementor should be a guard sent by the Ministry of Magic to Azkaban," Lupin said, walking out of the compartment at this time, then reminding her, "Killing it like this—"
"A Dementor that attacks students and still disobeys orders after being warned, is better off dead." Enterprise said nonchalantly, glancing at the place where the Dementor had been.
Although the wizarding world always promotes equality, it still adheres to the principle of wizard supremacy at its core. Therefore, as the person in charge of school safety, no one would make trouble for Enterprise for attacking and killing a Dementor that attacked students.
On the contrary, the guy who ordered the Dementors to search the Hogwarts Express today will probably be punished. After all, the students sitting on this train can be said to be the future of the British wizarding world. No wizard would allow such a dirty creature to approach their children.
"Quietus." After driving away the Dementors, Enterprise first canceled the amplification spell she had cast on herself, then looked at Lupin and asked. "How are the students on your end?"
"Some people have been severely affected by the Dementors. I have to help them recover first." Hearing Enterprise's question, Lupin looked back at his compartment. He saw four pale-faced Weasleys and Harry, who had already slipped under the seat.
"Then you go treat the students first. I'll go ask the driver up front." Enterprise nodded to him, then strode towards the front of the train. "What was that thing just now?" Only after the sound of Enterprise's leather boots tapping on the carriage floor faded away did Hermione show an expression of waking up from a nightmare and ask Hugo. "I feel like I had a nightmare."
"A Dementor came on the train to search and attacked the students—" Hugo briefly explained to his sister what had just happened.
He was now much better overall than his sister, because of the existence of the Admiral Network, he had a strong defense against this kind of attack targeting the soul and was almost unaffected.
When Hermione learned that the Dementors had attacked Harry and the others, she and Hugo went to the compartment to visit Harry and his friends. They saw Harry half-lying on the seat, eating chocolate with a pale face, while Lupin was saying something to him.
"Harry, how are you doing now?" Seeing Harry's ugly face, Hermione asked softly.
"I just—just fainted." Looking at Hermione and everyone's nervous expressions, Harry said softly and quickly. "I also heard some terrible screams."
"It seems you are more sensitive than others when facing this monster." Hugo said in a low voice. "On average, only one or two out of every 100 people will be like you."
"Is it because I'm more fragile than others?" Hearing Hugo say this, a frustrated expression appeared on Harry's face. "Even Ginny just shrank in her seat and trembled, but she definitely didn't faint directly like me."
"Don't worry, it doesn't mean you're worse than others in this regard." Hugo shook his finger and said, "This kind of creature is called a Dementor, which can suck away people's happiness and arouse all painful memories."
"Do you mean that the reason Harry fainted is because he has experienced pain that others have never experienced?" After hearing Hugo say this, Hermione reacted.
"Yes, think about why Harry is called the savior of the wizarding world." Hugo said, turning his head to stare into Harry's green eyes, and then said.
"So you don't have to feel ashamed of your fainting, it's just because you've experienced much more pain than others."
With a jolt, the train resumed its forward motion. During the rest of the journey, they didn't talk much, just silently eating chocolate. Finally, the train finally stopped at Hogsmeade Station.
