The Admiral of Hogwarts
#389 - Final Exam
As June arrived, the atmosphere in the castle became tense and excited once more. Everyone eagerly anticipated the final competition, set to take place a week before the summer holidays.
Hugo and his friends' exams would conclude on the morning of the third task. Lately, they had been occupied with other matters, so they simply used the excuse of assisting Veneto to avoid unwanted attention.
Rather than idling in the library and potentially arousing suspicion, feigning help with practice while actually spending most of their time connecting to the Admiral Network to handle matters concerning the ship girls proved far more convenient.
"Won't this interfere with your exams?" Harry asked somewhat apologetically after finishing their training that day. With everyone else having exams, the fact that they were spending all day together did seem to be disrupting their studies.
"No, every day when you're practicing alone at the end, Hugo and the others are helping me and my brother catch up. I think I've revised better this term than last term," Ginny said, wiping sweat from Harry's forehead with a handkerchief.
Since Harry and Ginny had started dating, Ginny had become much more mature, displaying the demeanor of a virtuous wife and mother. It was no wonder Harry ultimately chose Ginny, even overlooking her previous colorful romantic history.
"Ginny's right," Ron said, hovering a small bumblebee in mid-air with a series of obstacles. "I actually feel like accompanying you to practice, plus Hugo and the others' tutoring, has made my learning this year more solid."
At least, after facing Voldemort directly, Harry's mentality was much more stable than before, which made his practice particularly effective.
Because Professor McGonagall and Professor Flitwick often ran into Hugo and Harry's groups practicing all over the school, after a brief discussion, they both applied to the headmaster to provide the six with significant assistance:
They had the house-elves tidy up an empty classroom on the third floor of the castle, allowing them to practice their magic there until the end of the competition.
As for combining the two groups, for the professors of Hogwarts, the school should teach students not only competition but also more important cooperation.
Therefore, compared to the mutual animosity between Gryffindor and Slytherin, the school was more willing to see Hugo and his friends and Harry and his friends cooperate and unite.
After a brief inquiry by the two professors, they found that neither Hugo and his friends nor Harry and his friends objected to practicing together. This was mainly because the situations of the two sides differed greatly, so there was not much worry about the other learning their tactics.
More importantly, Veneto was the stronger party in this competition. So when Hugo expressed his willingness to practice with Harry and his friends and to help each other, Harry and his friends naturally agreed to this approach.
The reason Hugo and his friends were willing to do this was because, according to the analysis of the ship girls, taking this opportunity to train Harry and let him stand at the forefront in the subsequent chaos, rather than directly taking the field themselves, was obviously more beneficial to everyone.
So in this training process, Hugo and his friends also actively provided Harry with a lot of help, and taught him some magic that he could learn in the short term.
Harry quickly mastered many new spells, such as the Impediment Jinx, which could block attackers; the Confringo, which could blast solid obstacles;
And the Point Me spell that Hermione had obtained from the Admiral Network and given to him, which could make his wand point due north, so that he could judge whether he was going the right way in the maze.
But he had not yet fully mastered the Protego, a spell that could temporarily form an invisible barrier around him. Unfortunately, during a sparring session with Veneto, a small stone thrown by Veneto, seizing a loophole, directly hit his wrist.
Harry immediately opened his right hand and dropped his wand on the ground. Fortunately, the training of these days allowed him to react in time to dodge Veneto's next Stinging Hex, but it also left him no time to pick up his wand until the end of the training.
Ginny looked a little distressed, but it was all Harry's own request. He hoped that Hugo and his friends could train him strictly according to the standards of actual combat, because he knew that these would be very useful now that Voldemort had returned.
In fact, he had indeed learned a lot of useful knowledge from here. For example, Moody felt that Harry now used various spells significantly more flexibly than in the past, so that he would not be a fool on the battlefield as before.
In addition to this, Harry also asked Sirius to buy him a second-hand wand and secretly send it back to school in the mail, because he realized that wizards relied too much on wands to cast spells, so preparing a spare wand was very valuable.
The other school champions were also learning spells that might be used in the final task. Whether it was Fleur or Krum, they had both been frequently appearing in the library recently.
On the day of the competition, the atmosphere at the school's breakfast table was somewhat oppressive. After all, everyone was about to take their final exams, so even knowing that there was an important competition this afternoon, they couldn't muster much enthusiasm.
An owl from the school delivered the morning's "Daily Prophet" to Hermione as usual. She opened the newspaper, glanced at the front page, and immediately widened her eyes, revealing a surprised expression.
Hugo turned his head and then saw the front page of the newspaper reading: HARRY POTTER — DISTURBED AND DANGEROUS. The boy who defeated the Dark Lord is emotionally unstable and could be quite dangerous.
Recent shocking evidence has revealed Harry Potter's strange behavior, raising doubts about whether he is suitable to participate in such a difficult competition as the Triwizard Tournament, or even whether he is suitable to attend Hogwarts…
"It seems that the heat of the murder case in the school has also subsided, or it is possible that the Ministry of Magic is now consciously suppressing news about that case," Veneto said from the side after roughly scanning the page.
"So at this time, a new piece of news is urgently needed to divert everyone's attention. It just so happens that the final task of the Triwizard Tournament is now, so the original story about Harry can be taken out and reheated to divert everyone's main force."
"That's really true. At least according to Javelin, Scrimgeour, with the Aurors, found some clues in the place where Harry was kidnapped that were completely different from the public information," Firefly said to them through the Admiral Network at this time.
"It's just that when Scrimgeour reported this information and asked the Ministry of Magic to thoroughly investigate, Fudge's senior assistant, Umbridge, issued an order to forcibly stop the Auror Office's investigation in this area."
"What's worse is that when Tonks and I were secretly entrusted by Scrimgeour to conduct a secret investigation of the scene, the entire scene had been processed, and all traces had disappeared."
"At the same time, some accidents occurred in the samples we had previously collected. Among them, the most important residue of potion extracted from the stone cauldron was swapped."
"It seems that the pure-blood forces in the Ministry of Magic are much stronger than imagined," Hugo said in the Admiral Network.
It was no wonder Dumbledore wanted to organize his own Order of the Phoenix. Although the Order of the Phoenix had fewer people and weaker strength, it was clearly more proactive than the Ministry of Magic, which was a mess internally for various reasons.
