The Admiral of Hogwarts
#49 - Meet Hagrid
Hugo and the others ultimately placed their bet on Gryffindor winning the first match and Harry catching the Golden Snitch, a choice that greatly excited the Weasley twins.
After all, although Gryffindor and Slytherin had a heated argument over this matter, most people only took out a few silver Sickles or even bronze Knuts to show their support.
People like Hugo and the others who took out so many Galleons were extremely rare. In their memory, only Firefly, also a first-year student, made the same choice as Hugo and the others and bet 10 Galleons.
The twins thought that Hugo and Veneto might have taken out so much money because they and Harry had been very embarrassed by Malfoy last time, so this time they wanted to win back some face with a bet.
Besides, since they had faced death together with Harry at close range last time, they might also have a special trust and recognition of Harry.
"I think we should try our best to ensure that Harry wins the game this time," Veneto said to Hugo through the Admiral Network as they walked in the corridor after finishing today's work and saying goodbye to the Weasley twins. "I never thought that we would also need to maintain the plot and prevent it from changing."
"This is normal," Hugo shrugged and replied, "After all, specific problems need to be analyzed specifically. We can't just be so stupid and inflexible, can we?"
Everything was very normal in the following period. Except for the Quidditch players of each学院 stepping up their training, no unexpected events occurred. Thus, time quietly came to November.
The Scottish Highlands, where Hogwarts is located, are in the north of England, so the weather quickly became very cold. The mountains around the school were gray and covered with ice and snow, and the lake was as cold and hard as quenched steel. Every morning, the ground was covered with frost. From the windows upstairs, you could see Hagrid, wrapped in a long mole-skin coat, wearing rabbit-fur gloves, and huge beaver-fur boots, defrosting the flying brooms on the Quidditch field.
During this time, Hugo and the others also visited Hagrid at Harry's invitation. Unlike most wizards, Hagrid was very enthusiastic about wizards from Muggle backgrounds like Hugo and the others, and even invited them to taste his craftsmanship. Veneto unexpectedly became friends with this half-giant because he sincerely liked the various hard snacks Hagrid made.
I have to say that although Hagrid has various problems, his nature is not bad. He is very straightforward with people he recognizes, especially in communication, you can feel that he treats students like Hugo and the others as objects that can communicate equally, and does not look down on them because of their young age.
In the next few weeks, Hugo and the others visited Hagrid's hut many times. This was mainly because they were very interested in the stories Hagrid told about magical creatures and the Forbidden Forest, and hoped to hear more. Hagrid was also very happy to have these people who sincerely liked the knowledge he told come to visit.
After all, as the Keeper of Keys and Grounds of Hogwarts, Hagrid is actually a janitor like Filch. So usually not many students are willing to talk to him.
Therefore, after figuring out why Hugo and the others wanted to visit him, Hagrid was happy that he had gained the recognition of others on the one hand, and on the other hand, he began to make some preparations in his spare time to ensure that he could be smoother when telling Hugo and the others about those knowledge.
In such a regular life, the Quidditch season began. And the first game on Saturday was Gryffindor vs. Slytherin. Although the two colleges had decided to solve this trouble by betting, the gunpowder smell in the school was getting stronger and stronger.
Harry was obviously a little uneasy, because as the youngest Seeker in Hogwarts for a century, many people focused their attention on him. Some people told him that he would play very well, and some people told him that they would hold mattresses at that time and follow him to prevent him from falling.
This made him feel a lot of pressure, so much so that he had to run to the library to avoid the rumors. After entering the library, Harry also studied with everyone under the influence of the surrounding atmosphere. However, after accompanying him here a few times, Ron felt that the library was too quiet and refused to come again.
In order to avoid those noisy crowds, Harry tried his best to hide in the library whenever he had time, even if he finished his homework. Seeing that Harry was a little too nervous, Hermione, who had met him at Hagrid's, simply recommended him a book called "Quidditch Through the Ages". According to Hermione, sometimes reading more books can relax you.
Hugo didn't think Hermione's method of relieving stress would be useful to Harry, but strangely, Harry did quiet down after getting this book, and then sat quietly on the side of Hugo and the others' table and read it.
"Actually, Harry is good at academics," Veneto said to Hugo through the Admiral Network, looking at Harry reading quietly next to him, "Think about Harry's grades in the O.W.Ls exam, although they are not extremely excellent, they are definitely not bad. Therefore, he is not the kind of person who doesn't like to read as you think."
"You're right, I neglected it." Hugo suddenly realized at this time that there were not many places in the original text describing Harry's study, so he subconsciously applied the general academic level of football team students in American high schools to Harry.
But thinking about it carefully, except for Snape's Potions class, Harry's score has been low due to the professor's prejudice, his performance in other courses does not seem to be very bad. For example, in some descriptions of exams in the original text, it can be seen that he is still okay in terms of academic level.
No matter how everyone discusses, no matter how nervous Harry, the core of the discussion, is, the Quidditch match still started as scheduled. It was a Saturday morning. The weather was clear and cold. The restaurant was filled with the tempting smell of grilled sausages, and everyone was looking forward to an exciting Quidditch match, chatting happily.
For example, Cho Chang began to analyze the level of the players on both sides of this game and the possible final results to every Ravenclaw student sitting at the table who was willing to listen to her.
According to Marietta, she also placed a bet with the Weasley twins.
"Senior Zhang," Hugo asked when Cho Chang's analysis came to an end, "Can you tell us who you bet on this time?"
"Slytherin," Cho Chang said. "Although I hate Slytherin very much and support Gryffindor from the bottom of my heart, according to the results of the past few years, they have always been stronger than the Gryffindor team. So, for pocket money, I still bet on Slytherin."
"But I will cheer for Gryffindor on the field," she said, taking out a gold and red banner from her pocket with words of encouragement for the Gryffindor Quidditch team.
"Okay, that's also a choice." Hugo felt that he had nothing to say about her choice, but he still hoped that his senior would not bet too much money.
