The Adventurer System

Chapter 168 - Battle Mode

Yumiro was bothered as he recalled all the things that happened when he went to the vast surface.

"Hippie, the only thing we can do right now is to take the risk. Remember, we can't use our teleportation crystal, and the only way to escape in this situation is to complete this mission." He explained nonchalantly, then waiting how the woman to him would respond.

She smoothly rubbed her chin while narrowly looking at the ceiling. "As you said, this is the only way to escape in this situation. So I don't have any complaints about your judgment." Hippie responded.

"Yeah, it seems you understand our current situation. Also, don't worry no one would die in this place."

He gave her assurance, to boost her confidence somehow.

She slowly nodded with perseverance eyes. "Yeah, I'll gamble my VR life with you." Hippie said, then started to observe the surroundings under them.

'Gamble her life? This is the exact word Asarki said to me. The girl in this world was used to trust complete strangers. However, I should protect her someone is waiting for her to come back.' He uttered to his and also started to find basic information with this vast platform.

The vast platform was built in a rectangle shape, the length was 220 meters, and the width was 80 meters. In the edges, there were some soldier's statues and the throne that seemed to represent something.

"I'll go first, and wait for 5 minutes until you follow me." Yumiro ordered her, then attempted to move his legs. However, Hippe tugged his black shirt.

She uncontrollably shook her head with persuasive eyes. "No, I'll come with you right now. We didn't know what is things waited for us on this platform, we should conquer this together."

Or to be more simple, Hippie was bothered if there was hidden stuff that pushed them to separate from each other.

"As of now, we should stick to each other. Since we still looking for some information." She suggested.

Yumiro deeply sighed, knowing this woman couldn't stop. No matter what he says about her.

"Jeez, fine! But, you should not commit any mistakes. We don't have time for that." In his mind, if strong monsters approached them. He couldn't protect this woman in an instant.

"Yes! I'll not make any trouble with this expedition. Also, I'm already in a battle mode no one could stop me now, even you." She said seriously, then realised Grim was looking at her for too long. "Oh, sorry to offend you. This is not what I mean. I'm not too good to challenge you."

She hastily waved her hands, as she regretted what she said to him.

Yumiro narrowly lifted the corner of his mouth. "You have some guts, huh. But, I don't have the intention to battle a woman like you. Let's go!"

"I know! Sorry again!"

Both of them directly leaped into the platform, nevertheless, they were alarmed as they raised their guards.

'Battle mode, huh? I wonder if that her skill or her zexel.' He spoke to his mind, as he was eager to see what was the battle mode looks like.

Swizz! Swizz!

As soon as their feet touched on the dusty platform, an invisible shockwave passed to them and instantly encircled the entire platform.

"Get ready, they are coming, Hippie!" He alarmed Hippie as he fully remembered this was also the exact scene that happened when he fought the Green frog.

She gradually nodded her head, then pulled the Kobold's knife that was positioned on her right waist. "Yeah, I'm ready."

The occurrence shook the place which made them stumble a bit. After a few were moments, numerous blue lights appeared in front of them. But one thing that caught Yumiro's scrutiny, and it was the flickering red light not too far away from them.

"I'm sure that I had seen that light somewhere." He deliberately kneaded his chin. "Yeah, I saw it when I was fighting the white Grasshopper. I'm sure about this." He mumbled, so Hippie took a glance at him.

"Eh? What that you said? I can't heat it, your voice is too weak." She asked and wondering at the same time.

"Don't worry about me, focus on your front. The monsters would approach us sooner or later." He pointed his index finger at the 30 meters distance away from them. "Once you see the monsters, don't make any move. Stay away from them or run until the last 10 seconds."

"Okay, Grim. I already know what are you trying to say. Also, this is not the first time I have seen this kind of scenario." She calmly responded which gave Yumiro something new.

To be exact, once the monsters complete their respawning time. It had given time where the adventurers couldn't attack them as the monsters were invincible.

On the other hand, Carol hurriedly dashed to the automatic glass door. She then looking at Gin Dale with an anxious expression on her face.

"Sir Gin! Grim Draigh saw our observing drone. This is the second time he saw it, what we should do right now?!" Carol worriedly asked him.

"Don't yell, Carol. I can hear you loud and clear. However, this is a serious problem, they'll find out someone is observing with Grim Draigh." Gin said nonchalantly, then lighten his cigarette.

"The strong monsters, the Barlane quest, and this observing Drone. This is an obvious scout, we must stop at this juncture!" Carol suggested in a high tone. As she was aware the high businessmen and women would prepare investigation with this.

"I know, but the important thing here is to find out what this man skill. Although we are working on this game, we can't know what kind of skill or zexel was granted to him by the system. Give me this one, I'm sure this man is worth to watch." Gin replied while looking at the huge screen.

"But--" Carol stopped.

"Go back to your work, Carol. I'll take all the responsibility here. Also, I already mentioned it to Blun, both of us know Blun needs a man like him. This is about the game we are talking about with his desires."

"I'm aware of that, Sir Gin. But this is the game that you made with Sir Blun, so we can't afford it if we just lost it in a reckless idea. We can make a better plan, not just like this." Carol was persistent to open up the problem with him.

"We have a reason, why Blun and I made this game. And you didn't see? After several years I could see a man had potential, so move aside before I fired you. I don't care if you're the assets of the other moderators here, but this is the only thing." Gin said with serious eyes.

She deeply bowed her head with trembled legs. "I sincerely apologize, Sir Gin. I'm just worried about your reputation. I'll go back with my work, and sorry again for the scene that I made."

As soon as Carol attempted to leave the room, Gin called her once more.

"Sorry for my words, you're the best employee here. We can't do it if you're not here." Gin said in a low voice.

Her eyelids were widened after seeing Gin bowed his head. "Sir Gin, you don't need to bow your head. I'm just happy to serve you."

He lifted his head. "You can back your word, and if Grim Draigh saw the drone. Don't hesitate to cut the broadcasting that's an order." Dale said.

She nodded her head with a grin. "Yes, Sir Gin. I'll tell them about this, I'll take leave my leave. They need me there."

"Yeah, continue your job." He replied, then positioned his left leg over his right leg. "Grim Draigh, show me your true ability right now. Tell me, that you're worth more than this." He kept tapping the desk in front of him by using his index finger. While the VR helmet was placed next to him as he was eager to enter the VR world.

...

Back in the Barlane Dungeon, two adventurers fully witnessed the new monster in front of them.

"Grim, what the heck?! The monsters here are tougher than I thought. However, as I said I'm already in the battle mode. No one could stop me right now, I'll end this at any cost."

"You're so talkative, Hippie. Okay, show me what you got." Yumiro raised his arms and started to bounce on the smooth surface.

[Fiery sword]

"It's not a lighting skill, Grim. To be exact, this is a buff skill that could enlarge my output damage in an instant." Hippie said as she was optimistic since she was wielding the Kobold's knife.

"Whatever, just prove to me that you're worth in this expedition."

In front of them were 6 Gobogren monsters and 2 Hiller knights. Yet, it had was quite different in the Lynx Dungeon as its armor was not too dark, and the weapons they wield were shields and spears.
