The Alpha King

Soon after Ginger left Chris came up and sat besides my bed in one of the chairs that was already there.

He asked how I was feeling and if my pillows were all fine and if I was comfortable.

'' Sorry Victoria I know you must be hungry but Xavier said he'd bring the food up when he's done. ''

'' It's fine don't worry.''

Chris smiled softly at me his laughing lines becoming even more prominent. Chris was in his late forties but he look like he was in his late thirties. That's all thanks to the werewolf ageing.

His blonde hair was cut short yet looked as if he hadn't brushed it and he had slight stubble similar to Xavier's. I felt guilty in that moment.

I realised that I had caused everyone I love so much of pain and sleepless nights. They shouldn't of worried about me I'm no one important.

'' That's all we have done since you were taken, is worry,'' he said sighing.

'' I know and I feel so guilty.''

'' Why, you shouldn't feel guilty at all! What happened to you was not your fault!'' He said looking hurt.

''It was.'' I said thinking of how I so easily trusted Adam. I thought he was a miracle. The first person my age to want to be my friend but he was a scam.

''It wasn't. Victoria I know I shouldn't be asking you this so soon and especially because His Majesty has ordered that no one were to ask you or do anything to upset you but I have to know. What happened to you? As your father I have been going out of my mind, imaging the worst possibl-''

Just then the door slammed open and Xavier stood in the door frame, a tray of steaming food in one hand. He looked mad.

''Chris if you do not mind I would like a moment alone with my mate.'' He said, his tone clipped, eyes narrowed into slits.

Chris looked at Xavier then at me and slowly got up from his chair and walked towards the door where Xavier still stood.

Xavier for some unknown reason waited for Chris to reach the door, proceeded to wait a few more seconds and only then decided to move away and let Chris pass.

Xavier took long strides towards my bed and sat on the same chair Chris previously occupied.

He sat the tray down and looked at me. His eyes searching my face.

''Did he upset you in anyway? I warn-''

''Warned everyone to not say or do anything to upset me, I know.''

Xavier looked shocked for a moment then angry again.

''What else did he tell you or say to you?''

I pulled the covers up to my chin and sighed out loud.

''Xavier he didn't upset me okay, can I please eat now?''

He didn't seem satisfied with my answer but turned and took a plate off the tray.

I sat up quickly and reached for it but he drew the plate away from me?

''Xavier, give me the plate!'' I yelled as he moved it further away from me. He simply smiled at me and I stopped suddenly. His smile was so beautiful, my mate was so beautiful.

His smile seemed to broaden then and I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion. Why did he smile even further at me. What did I do? Was I gawking at him?

''No mate it wasn't anything you did, it was what you said. I'm glad to know you think I'm beautiful,'' Xavier said mind linking me.

I gasped because it was almost as if I had completely forgotten about mind linking. I hadn't been able to use it in well for ages. I had almost forgotten what it felt like, what our bond felt like.

I quickly blocked him from my mind and frowned at him.

''Plate.Now,'' I demanded. He narrowed his eyebrows playfully at me and said coolly,

''No, I am going to spoon feed you.''

I scrunched my face up at his words.

''I'm not a child.''

''No but you are hurt and I am going to make sure you do not have to do anything. I am going to take care of you and that's final.''

There he goes being demanding already.

Sighing I decided to not argue with him and just allow him to do this.

''Thank you.''

'' For what?''

''For looking after me while I was unconscious and feeding me and all of that.'' I said softly looking away from him.

His face softened and he leaned in closer to me taking ahold of my hand he said,

''It was the least I could do,'' and then he kissed me on my cheek and I sighed out loud at the feel of his lips on my skin.

He moved lower, his face brushing against mine and I felt his stubble tickle my skin. He reached my lips and kissed me. It wasn't a passion filled kiss or one demanding any thing. His kiss was soft and gentle almost as if he was reassuring me that he was there for me.

I broke away and said for the thousandth time.

''Can I eat now?'' He pulled away from my face and chuckled shaking his head he cut a piece of chicken and help it up to my mouth on a fork.

I rolled my eyes and opened my mouth for the food like a proper child.

Xavier continued to feed me for I don't know how long. He remained patient and calm. He would constantly try to touch me somehow either by holding my hand or brushing my arm or by moving my hair out of my face. It was almost as it he wanted to make sure I was real and still there with him and not something out of his imagination.

Nobody barged in or disturbed us and I knew Xavier had something to do with it. I also noticed how he hadn't asked me a single thing on what happened to me or who captured me or anything. I assumed that would be the first thing to come flying out of his mouth, questions but no all he did was hold me and feed me and allow me to gather my bearings.

I instantly frowned as I thought about Adam. I had to tell Xavier and he seemed to be slightly peaceful and not angry for once so if I was going to tell him I better do it now.

He was busy looking down at the plate getting more food onto the fork for me when I hastily said,

''Xavier...'' He looked up at me and I knew I had his undivided attention.

''Yes, are you full?''

''Um... no it's not that you see...well I want to tell you something.'' He put the plate on the bedside table and sat forward.

''You do not have to tell me anything right now if you do not want to. I promise you, all I want from you is to get better then we can talk.'' I looked down unable to meet his eyes.

''I know and it's going to take awhile before I can talk about what happened to me but this is important.''

''Okay then tell me if you wish,' he said taking ahold of my hands. I looked at him and told him who kidnapped me.

''It was Cadmer, he kidnapped me.'' Xavier sneered and squeezed my hands tighter.

''I suspected as much. He was my number one suspect.''

''But he had help...''

''From who?''

''Don't get too angry okay.''

''You know I cannot promise that Victoria.''

'' It was Adam,'' I said quickly looking away.

There was dead silence then Xavier threw his chair back and shouted.

''I AM GOING TO KILL THAT WORTHLESS HUMAN! I KNEW SOMETHING WAS NOT RIGHT ABOUT HIM!''

My eyes widened as Xavier punched the wall next to him which was pretty close to my head. A huge hole formed and I cringed. I knew he'd react this way.

''How dare he, how dare he do that to you! How dare he touch you then take you from me!'' He raged as he paced my bedroom.

His eyes began to turn a light blue and I knew his wolf was surfacing . This is bad, really bad I just let loose a hungry, tired, angry Alpha. Which means he is highly unstable right now and I fear for everyone downstairs.

I created this mess I better contain it.

I sucked in a slight breath as I swung my legs over the bed and climbed out. My legs felt shaky and I almost fell over but Xavier appeared out of thin air and managed to catch me just in time.

'' What are you doing? Get back in bed,'' He almost shouted while he continued to hold me in his arms. His eyes still blue.

He sounded just like Ginger.

''Xavier I know you're angry right now,'' I said touching his check softly. His eyes dilated slightly and he leaned into my touch.

''I'm more than just angry, I'm furious!'' He seethed but softly this time.

''I know, I know but trust me this isn't the way to react,'' I said as I played with his hair.

''Then how do you want me to react?'' He softly said his eyes going even bluer for some reason.

''I want you to help me find them and I want you to help me destroy them.''

He looked up at me and held my face in his, my hands still in his hair.

Looking deep into my eyes he said,

''I promise you we will, together this time.''
