The Alpha King

Chapter 41 - 41

We were all seated around a huge desk in one of the rooms, it looked to be sort of like a conference room. It seemed as if Xavier had all kinds of things in this huge castle.

Most of the generals I met when I first arrived were all here and there a few new faces as well. Luca and moody Killian were seated across from me and I couldn't help but feel slightly out of place.

I was a little shocked at how everyone treated Xavier. They didn't speak unless he said they could, they never once took their eyes off of him when he spoke and no one ever spoke back to him.

It was really weird because from the moment I met him I was busy screaming at him and not once did I ever fear him but I knew everyone, including his generals who were extremely scary looking feared him.

But they didn't just fear him, no, they had the utmost respect and loyalty for him as well and I admired Xavier and them for it.

"We have always had a problem with the spell casters and Cadmer and I know we have tried again and again to catch him. We have failed in the past but we will not fail this time.

He kidnapped my mate, your Queen Luna and that was an act of war! It will not go unpunished and I will make sure he suffers greatly for it.

He has not just hurt someone close to me but he has killed your brothers and sisters, your mothers and fathers in the past and it is high time we finally put a stop to his tyranny!

We will we working to locate him and from then on we will come up with a plan of action and we will go to war!"

Shivers erupted over my arms at the lethal tone Xavier used. He meant business and no one was going to get into his way. I knew he, no both of us would avenge myself and all the fallen werewolves by Cadmers hand and I couldn't wait to make him suffer as he made me.

Xavier and the generals continued to discuss locations and Xavier said if it came down to it he would bring all the packs into the war. The discussion continued for hours. When ever someone came up with a plan, some one else would point out a flaw in it and then they would all break out in another round of, it wasn't quite arguing but it was close.

It was almost four o'clock by the time Xavier called the meeting off and said everyone could leave. After hours of discussions we weren't any closer to capturing Cadmer than we were in the beginning.

After everyone filed out it was just me and him. He tuned to look at me and I saw how stressed he looked.

"You should go get something to eat."

"No, you should." I said stubbornly and leaned closer to him. He narrowed those grey orbs at me and glared. If he thought his look was going to scare me he could think again. I narrowed my own eyes up at him and we continued to glare at each other until he sighed loudly and said,

"Victoria, please, go get some food and relax." Why was he insisting I leave, I mean he hasn't eaten anything and if he was going to continue to work then I would as well. I couldn't just go and relax, knowing he was in here stressing.

But then again I guess, me refusing him would only lead to him getting angry and even more stressed and worked up. Maybe I'll just listen to him and go get us both some food. Yes, that sounded like a better idea.

"Fine, but I'm coming back in here with food for you. Now tell me what you want. Wait, wait I know, something raw, right? Should I go kill some poor deer and drag it's carcass back in here for you?" I was grinning evilly at him and I watched at his mouth twitched and his eyes narrowed playfully down at me this time.

" I'll eat whatever you are eating and the only carcass I want back in here is yours." Xavier said smirking at me and I leaned even closer into him and then I flicked his nose and got up and walked out. I heard him muttering something under his breath before I left and I just smiled to myself. I must admit, I enjoyed irritating him way to much.

The chefs had, luckily already prepared food and so I just took whatever they handed me and walked back into the conference room.

Xavier was exactly where I had left him. He glanced up as I walked in and then back down onto whatever he was reading.

I sat down on one of the chairs to his left and placed his plate of food next to him. He thanked me and we ate in silence, his eyes kept glancing back onto his paperwork and when we were done with our food I offered to help him but he said it was fine and that I should just leave and go and explore.

So I did, I walked around the castle for a while and as soon as I spotted the library I decided to go and spend some time in there.

The library was huge. At this point I'm sure every freaking room in this place was obnoxiously big. There were, I'm sure thousands of books. Books littered the room from the floor to the ceiling in multiple colours. I was in heaven to say the least.

There was a huge window and some really comfy looking leather couches all placed around the library and after finding a book to read I curled up in one of them, right next to the big glass window.

I looked out of the window and saw that it was still snowing and a few pack members were walking around. The forest was in the background and everything just looked so magical.

Xavier's home was truly beautiful.

Hours and hours passed and I was still so engrossed in my book. It was a murder mystery, something I wouldn't normally read but I thought it would be interesting and it is.

I didn't know how much of time had passed but as soon as I looked up and out of the window behind me I saw that it was already dark outside.

How long have I been in here? I thought alarmingly. I hope no one was worried about where I was. I don't want something like the beach incident to happen again, but then again if Xavier wanted me, he would have just followed my scent or tried to mind link me. Feeling slightly relieved I walked out of the library and towards the conference room.

Upon entering I found it empty and so I decided to follow Xaviers scent and it lead me to his office. I walked in and found him hunched over his desk, papers littered all around him.

"Xavier, what are you doing?"

I walked towards him and sat down on one of the chairs in front of his desk. He glanced up at me and replied,

"Working, what are you doing? You should be getting ready for bed by now." I didn't like how he was making me out like a child but I decided to not fight with him. Instead I welcomed the heat from the fire crackling in the corner and rested my head back against the chair.

"Xavier, come to bed." I said softly and closed my eyes just for a moment. They were sore from reading for so long.

"No, I have work to do. You go on, I'll join you shortly." He is such a liar. He hasn't been coming to bed for I don't know how long. He's always cooped up in his office till the early hours of the morning. He barely sleeps these days.

I sat up and looked at him as he looked down at his desk. He was concentrating so much I doubt he wanted me even in here bothering him.

"Can I help you?" All I wanted to do was ease his stress and the amount of work he seemed to be doing.

"No, it's fine, I can handle it."

He wasn't going to budge, I just knew it and it seemed I was only irritating him. Sighting a bit dramatically I got up and was about to walk out but stopped in my tracks. Turning around I walked back towards him and around his desk to where he was sitting.

He looked up at me and was about to ask something but I cut him off with a kiss. I kissed him slowly and after he realised what I had just done he sped up the kiss and took control.

He grabbed me and pulled me down so that I was sitting in his lap and we continued to explore each other's mouths.

"Vic-toria, I-I really..."

"Hmmm."

"I should...finish...this." He pulled away from me and I just pecked his lips once more and got off of him.

As I was walking towards the door I heard him groaning and muttering something about hating being a King.

Xavier didn't come to bed and when I awoke in the morning his side was cold. My heart sank and it continued to sink as the days passed and every time he wasn't there. I barely saw him and the more I tried to be of help, the more he seemed to get angry with me. So eventually I stopped offering and going to see him in his office.

One thing was for sure, I had to do something to get my mind off of him and the boredom and I knew exactly what I wanted to do. I wanted to train and I wanted to be trained by the best warrior in this pack.. I had my own battles to fight and I was not going to waste my time mindlessly.
