An uncharacteristic scream echoed in the bright meadow of rustling spring flowers.

“Dieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!”

The man, who had become a form of desperation, raises his sword and rushes toward Leohardt, but Leohardt greets the man without moving an eyebrow. The man’s expression is frightened by this too leisurely appearance.

At this point, the winner is decided.

A glimmer of pink and orange flashed before the man’s eyes as he was about to stall.

I watched through my binoculars as the man was kicked and blown away. I can’t help but think to myself, I’d like to ask him later if he noticed that ‘he’ was the girl who had accompanied him as a lady-in-waiting.

An hour later, the man was tied up and rolled on the floor of the royal palace. He was sandwiched between Leohardt, who he had tried to kill, and me, who was supposed to hold him accountable. His face was pale and tears were in his eyes.

I’m afraid of the fact that the man has no wounds that can be seen on his body or clothes, even though Leohardt has inflicted enough damage to make a large man like him fall to the ground. There is only dirt and grass on his back and arms. If he were to take off his clothes, there would surely be a big bruise on his side.

Incidentally, Miss Margaret, who inflicted the wound, is now being lectured by Harold for using a “kicking technique” that is unbecoming of a lady. I was about to say, “It’s okay, her legs weren’t seen because of her long skirt ……” but he stared at me as if he was shooting icicles at me . Haha, a man in love is desperate (shivering).

To see if what Leohardt said was true, we decided to use him(Leohardt) as bait. Miss Lisha said, “It’s dangerous, what if something happens ……!”. She made a face of despair when she saw the flirtatious Second Prince she was worried about agreeing to be the bait happily.

Leohardt said he wanted to have a sneaky picnic outing for a change of pace, and appointed those he had spotted as suspicious to be his companions.

He decided that he did not need an escort from the palace, and so, we only sent Miss Margaret as his lady-in-waiting.

The delighted enemy was on his tail and attacked Leohardt in an unpopular place. ……

Only the chief of the group who came to assassinate Leohardt responded to Leohardt’s trap. The rest of the people were part of the traitorous faction but they were easily handled. It would be reassuring to have so many friends. Did they think they could get away with killing the Prince just by helping each other?

However, they were all sunk down by Miss Margaret before they could get to Leohardt.

“You see? I just stirred things up a little bit, and this is what I got. If Miss Lisha is left alone in the country, she would be killed immediately.”

“Well then, is your country safe?”

The one who said that our country is unsafe is an extremist. I’m sure he’ll do whatever it takes for the sake of his beloved big brother, and I admire his spirit,……, but he and I have our disagreements.

Does this mean that there is another person in the Kingdom of Orion who is as passionate as Leohardt about Lord Marius?

Are you seriously okay with that?

As I was looking down at the man who was still unable to keep up with the situation oblivious to my inner anxiety, he(Leohardt) let out a tentative “hmmm”.

“I understand what the other assassins meant to say. You guys are being treated like pawns.”(Leohardt)

“The place where we went on our excursion is the royal family’s picnic spot. It is so vast that you may not have noticed it, it is surrounded by walls and even has guards.”(Vincent)

“If I were to be killed in such a place, it would start a war between the Wiseworth and Berlioz royal families.”(Leohardt)

“The only way to avoid that would be to punish the perpetrators with extreme cruelty.”(Vincent)

“Oh, no. ……!”

After the rare experience of being kicked to the ground by a pretty girl and then being the target of a failed operation, the leader of the assassin group collapsed.

His motivation has gone because his friends had quickly spoken out. There was no one to protect him.

“It was the Marquis de Acteau who ordered my assassination, wasn’t it?”

The man stares at Leohardt intently. He seems to have already lost his sense of mission, and his slightly twisted lips show not conflict but hesitation. What is the most convenient way to make him answer?

Naturally, he can’t see through such speculation.

Leohardt tilts his head with a smile, a cute little smile. His turquoise hair reflects the light and makes a circle of angels above his head- it seems his dark mode is triggered.

“Tell me the truth and I’ll spare your life. If you dare to lie–”

“Master Acteau has ordered me to do so!”

The man screams after his biting answer. His screams are muffled by his own confession.

I looked at Leohardt’s face and thought, “I wish I could learn that, too,” but it still has shadows on it that defy natural law. Isn’t it practically dark magic?

“When and where was this commanded?”

“Before I left, I was summoned to …… well, I was told that it was a secret order from His Majesty the King …… that Master Leohardt was after the life of Master Marius…! So, while you were studying abroad, I was told to managed to make it look like an incident–”

“……How, my brother…”

A chill ran down my spine.

His voice was calm and normal. Nothing has changed, not even his expression. If I had been a little further away, it would have sounded like he was just speaking naturally.

But to those within a two-meter radius, it was clear that the remarks of the “action of the King” or whatever was said had offended Leohardt.

Leoharto’s arm stretched out to the man.

He grabbed the man’s shoulders, whose tears fell from his eyes, which were filled with fear. The man’s face was stained with tears, and he tried to escape by twisting his bound body.

He tried to run away, but his body was tied up and he was trying to wriggle his way out of the bindings.

“Oh, save ……!”

“I said I wouldn’t harm your life. That’s why I want to talk to you first.”

“Only my life, …… only my life–”

“I will let you go.”

“Let me …… huh?”

“‘It is the duty of a minister to protect the next King. I’m not going to eliminate the Crown Prince, my brother. It is Acteau’s scheme. It is Acteau who is at fault. I won’t hold you accountable for this.”

Before I knew it, Leohart had returned to his normal smile and spoke gently, as if admonishing me.

A glimmer of hope dwells in the man’s eyes, which has been filled with fear and despair.

“You will be loyal to me this time.”

“………… yes.”

The man who seems to have fallen off his back is unable to get up and remains lying on the floor looking like a caterpillar. But there is a respectful color in his gaze as he looks up at Leohardt.

Leoharto turns his head to look at me.

“That’s what I meant, Vincent. This man was deceived by a villain who wanted to destroy the loyal family of Orion by the royal family of Wiseworth, but he’s changed his mind. And so did the rest of us. …… I would like to request that these poor souls be given the treatment they deserve.”

I’d like to say, “You, don’t command me while staying in my country”. But I keep my mouth closed……

Leohardt knows how to make use of people.
