The Birth of a Villainess

Chapter 267 - A Game to Survive (3)

Qu Xing Xu continued to watch on, his gaze staying in the center of the hall where several people stood and knelt. The fear inside them were still not erased from them, but their eyes were filled with determination and their tremendous will to survive.

One person after another rushed towards the sword which was glimmering with the silvery yellow glow as the flames from the brazier hit the long sword.

The Bai family's sword was traditionally passed down to head after head of the family. They will carry the sword as their glory and part of their proof that they can mobilise the armies that they gathered outside of the capital and located in a small village called Tian'ai village.

Tian'ai village used to be a village occupied by poor and underprivileged people who only waited for the government to send their support to them. But because the Bai family recognized the benefits from the village and the productive land it encompassed, the Fifth head of the Bai family secretly massacred the people of the village and took it as if it was his own.

Taking a village was not an easy feat it were close to the capital and officers overlooking the places around the empire, but Tian'ai was a small one and near the border of the empire, and thus, it didn't even take a day for the Bai family to eradicate all villagers and replaced them with their men who later disguised themselves as men.

But that sword that should be in the hands of the next and future head of the family was now floating in the air by Qu Xing Xu.

One hand grabbed the sword but before that hand could even touch the smooth surface of the sword, someone grabbed him by the hair and pulled him back.

"That's mine!" Bai Shuang shouted firmly at his brother-in-law who was caught into this mess. "I am the next head of the family so this sword belongs to me!"

Bai Shuang quickly went up to take the sword, his hands were around it and just when he was about to pull it, he flew to the side as someone's foot suddenly kicked him before he could completely take the sword away.

"Bai Yu!!!" Bai Shuang roared out, his back hitting against the pillar. Blood spurted out of his mouth as he glared at his own son, "You dare kick me, you father?"

Bai Yu looked at his father and said, "I'm sorry, father."

"If you're sorry then give that sword to me!"

"If I give it to you, you'll just kill us all. I can't do that." Bai Yu told his father, taking the sword that was in the air in his hand. He swung the sword, the 'ziing' sound that came from it after it sliced through the air could make any military man look at the sword in awe.

"And what's the difference? With you holding that sword, you think the result will change?" his father questioned him. He waved at the other people inside the room and continued to say, "Just give it to me, son! I won't make your death painful. I'll make it real swift and smooth that you won't even know that you died!"

"Bullshit!" Bai Yu cursed out, "Who wants that? If I can live instead of dying, I won't give this sword to anyone then!"

Just as when Bai Yu was about to swing his hand that was holding the sword towards the nearest person who was about to grab him, from behind him, someone was faster.

"Keuk!' Bai Yu choked out, the arm that was around his neck forced him to struggle to breath. "You… kuh… Let go! You a**hole!"

Bai Yu tried to elbow Bai Yan who held him into a tight embrace and choke hold. But because Bai Yan was taller, his arms were longer and Bai Yu couldn't reach him and hurt him successfully even after a few times of trying to do so.

"Let go, you bastard!"

"I'll do that if you let go of the sword!" Bai Yan replied with another tug, making Bai Yu, who was already losing oxygen let out a painful gasp.

On the other hand, while these two men were in a scuffle, the females did not sit down idly and watch the fight break between the male members of the family. They also engaged into a catfight, pulling each other's hair, stabbing each other with their hair ornament, throwing teapots, plates, and using chopsticks to poke whatever they could from their opponents.

The shrill screams and the shouts that filled the room could even be heard outside the Bai mansion, but no one outside heard it. Not even a soul was walking on the road that leads to the Bai mansion. One could even think that the entire path towards it has been abandoned.

Growing tired and already getting a headache from their screams and petty fights, Qu Xing Xu sighed. He wondered what Lin Xiaofei was doing. Just thinking about Lin Xiaofei, a gentle smile tugged on his lips. He wished he could wrap this up already and throw himself to her soft arms. Maybe even snatch a kiss or two while he's at it.

"Untie me, woman! Don't assume that because you sided with that monster, you will be able to escape the crime of keeping a royal prince under a bas.e.m.e.nt and keep him tortured!" Yu Fangzhu spat out, his face red with anger and pain.

"Pfftt.. Hahahaha!" Lin Xiaofei couldn't stop her laughter as she heard him. "Won't be able to escape? Yu Fangzhu, how many lives have you taken and how many people have you put inside that underground dungeon of yours?"

"Do you even know how many officials, princes, and princesses, even kings and queens, have a room of their own preferred tortures for their people? Have you realized how scary it is to be locked inside a darkened room and wait for the person to torture you arrive?"

Lin Xiaofei closed in towards him, holding his glare to her fierce and cold eyes. She pitifully shook her head and said when he still glared at her, "I guessed not."

"But that is something I will have to correct today."
