The Birth of a Villainess

Gu Yan felt the need to answer quickly before his Master could flip on his emotions and said, "They plan to be a matchmaker for the young madam after their plans have succeeded."

After saying so, Gu Yan prepared himself for the oncoming pressure that was already seeping out of Qu Xing Xu's body. It was too powerful and dark that even Gu Yan, who was very strong and was made with a part of Qu Xing Xu's soul, couldn't take it.

"They want to play matchmaking now?" Qu Xing Xu rubbed his thumb against his index finger as he laughed lightly. But Gu Yan knew that his Master was not laughing genuinely. He was sure that he was already planning something in his head towards this old man.

"What does Master want to do?" Gu Yan asked with difficulty while the pressure in the air was still there. 

Qu Xing Xu's robe swayed with the wind. The black robes he wore were exquisite and made from first-rate quality silk; the intricate pattern of golden that line from his shoulders to the robe's hem created an illusion of a dragon dancing and twisting on his clothes. Nonetheless, even with all the splendidness of this robe, it didn't contest with Qu Xing Xu's handsome face and elegance.

"Make a trip to the Imperial Palace. I want to meet with that old fool sitting on the throne." Qu Xing Xu said before fl.i.c.k.i.n.g his slaves as he left the bamboo forest and disappeared into the shadows.

Gu Yan lowered his head, and similar to his Master, he also disappeared by letting his whole body be swallowed up by his shadows under him. He did not know what his Master plans to do by going to the Imperial Palace where the Emperor lives, but he knew one thing… 

The Emperor will surely have to prepare to fall sick once again.

Inside the Song Residence.

A carriage pulled by two horses stopped before the gates of the Song residence. The guards standing before the gates did not move and block the person inside the carriage after seeing the emblem of the Song family on the side of the carriage. 

The curtain blocking the insides of the carriage was pulled open and revealed a middle-aged man inside. He wore a plain light blue robe, and as he walked down the makeshift stair that one of his servants pulled for him to get down the carriage, the satchel hanging on his waist shook tightly.

As he walked inside the gate of the residence, an older servant came forward and respectfully bowed to him. The servant said, "First Master Song, the Third Master, and his wife have been waiting inside the receiving hall for you to come."

After hearing him, Song Lan paused as he walked by the old servant and frowned as he spoke, "Did my brother tell you what they have come here for?"

The old servant shook his head before saying, "The Third Madam was crying and looked disheveled when she came over with the Third Master. There's also another woman who came along with them."

Song Lan no longer stayed around the gate and decided to walk to his own courtyard first. Seeing this, the old servant didn't say anything and followed his Master. Song Lan closed the door behind him and changed out of his clothes. That day was quite tiring as he had just gone over to that empty house to meet with other elders of noble families. 

At that time, he remembered how Qu Xing Xu was unfavoured by his own father and wasn't treated well inside the residence. He was almost like a Shu born child whose mother was just a s.l.u.t, the Master of the house brought over to the residence and not a child birthed by the legal first wife. 

But it wasn't really surprising since the Bai family took power over the Qu family by sending their daughter to marry the previous Duke. With a son from the legal first wife who was thrown aside by her own family, it was no wonder even her son had no power or value inside the residence. Especially when the Bai family was expecting Bai Feng Jiu to give birth to a son to become the next successor of the Bai family.

However, when Song Lan came over that day, he didn't see the boy who should be broken and sullen from his unfortunate fate. Instead, he met an extremely arrogant boy who looked back at him as if he was looking at an inferior creature standing before him.

At first, Song Lan thought that the boy was only acting tough in front of others, but when he saw Qu Xing Xu still acting arrogantly towards others as if they should be honored by his presence, Song Lan had a premonition at that time that Qu Xing Xu will grow into a great man.

"Tch… Such a waste of talent." Song Lan mumbled under his breath as he finished changing. He looked at the sky through the window and finally turned around to leave his courtyard with the old servant in tow.
