The Birth of a Villainess

Chapter 78 - Different Views

Words spread fast and in the Lin residence, the news that Lin Xiaomeng was called to the palace and had a conversation with the Empress regarding the marriage of fourth Miss of the Lin family, everyone couldn't believe it.

"Are you sure about that?" Second Madam Song Yan Yi asked her servant who nodded her head.

"Apparently, the old master rushed to see the fourth young miss after coming back from the palace." The maid said with her head lowered, a small smile was on her lips.

Earlier when the maid was in the kitchen with her fellow servants, she heard in passing from one of the maids who worked closely around Lin Xiaomeng that their old master was facing a problem concerning his favorite grandchild.

The empress has planned for Prince Jing to marry Lin Xiaofei who was the fourth young miss in the Lin family.

When the maids heard the news from the mouth of one of the servants working in the courtyard of Lin Xiaomeng, they immediately went to look for their masters and mistresses to report this joyful news to them.

They knew all along that the bad blood that has been going on between the rest of the Lin family and the fourth young miss who was despised by everyone else. Thus, they guessed that it was good for them to report this to their masters and mistresses.

Song Yan Yi listened to the maid's words and smiled. This piece of news that Lin Xiaofei will be married to Prince Jing was indeed something for them to be happy and celebrate for.

She's been hating on the young lady who didn't know what was good for her and wouldn't show any respect to her. And with the empress's bestowal, she was glad that Lin Xiaofei was now getting what she deserved - to be sent to the wolf's cage and eaten.

In the Capital, there was no one who has never heard of the wastrel Prince Jing and thus, Song Yan Yi thought that this match was made from heaven.

Song Yan Yi glanced at head maid Zhang and nodded. The head maid pulled the younger maid outside and took out two silver ingots from her sleeves and gave it to the young maid.

With a smile, head maid Zhang said to the young mad, "Madam is delighted with your story. Here, accept this for your hard work."

"Oh no! How can I accept Madam's reward? I am merely doing what I ought to do since I'm serving the madam." The young maid bowed. Her words sounded like she didn't want to accept the silver ingots in the hands of head maid Zhang but upon close inspection, one could see that her hands were already touching the old maid and felt the silver ingots in her hands.

The young maid cannot possibly pass up with the chance to get some money out of this.

When the head maid Zhang got back to Song Yan Yi's room, she saw her mistress still smiling.

"It seems that Heaven is still helping us, my lady." Head maid Zhang commented.

"You're right. Even though we couldn't eliminate her through the tricks that we planned last time, if Prince Jing were to marry that s.l.u.t, it will still be the same thing." Song Yan Yi lightly laughed.

The matter where their plan to humiliate and eliminate Lin Xiaofei from the picture through making Ke Song r.a.p.e her somehow failed miserably. And with Lin Xiaomeng's help as per Lin Xiaofei said last time, the two madams were unable to do anything to her since they feared that it will only anger Lin Xiaomeng.

However, it seems that they no longer need to raise a hand and devise a plan to get rid of Lin Xiaofei. The empress and Prince Jing were now doing what they couldn't do and take away the pearl in Lin Xiaomeng's hands.

Song Yan Yu had long desired for her to disappear ever since Lin Xiaomeng showed his doting affection to Lin Xiaofei and ignored her daughters. She finds it unfair that it was only Lin Xiaofei who became Lin Xiaomeng's favorite and this became one of the reasons why Song Yan Yi would always bully and fight with Lin Xiaofei.

While Song Yan Yi was rejoicing for the misfortune that befell Lin Xiaofei, there were some others who have mixed emotions when hearing that Lin Xiaofei caught the attention of both the empress and Prince Jing.

Lin Feng and Lin Sang had different views on this matter. Lin Sang was happy and quite enthusiastic about this match as he could already see himself engaging with the higher-ranked officials in the court if Lin Xiaofei married Prince Jing. With no sufficient talent in the court, Lin Sang relied on his connections.

On the other hand, Lin Feng was feeling complicated and had a different opinion from his brother. Although he didn't like this niece of his, he would rather not let her marry Prince Jing as it would be too wasteful for her to marry such a man with no talent and would only drag their Lin family to mud even more.

Lin Xiaofei's dark reputation was already enough to stain their name, he can't imagine having another stain on the Lin family with Prince Jing as an addition.

However, what was he supposed to do with this matter? He could ask some of his friends to inquire and help him change the empress' mind but if Prince Jing was infatuated with his niece and ended up persuading the empress to write a royal decree, there would be no way out for the Lin family.

Looking at his wife who was silently reading a book on the side, Lin Feng forced his mouth to speak to her. They've been acting cold towards each other and rarely spoke these days thus, he subconsciously finds it hard for him to speak to her without getting nervous.

Clearing his throat, Lin Feng awkwardly asked his wife, "What do you think about the plan of the empress?"Find authorized novels in , faster updates, better experience, Please click /book/the-birth-of-a-villainess_16977433905988805/different-views_47684191319542677 for visiting.

Tilting her head, Wu Jing Yan was slightly startled to hear him speak to her. She shook her head and said after thinking, "The empress must be doing this for her son for him to settle." Pausing a little bit, Wu Jing Yan stared at him, "But I don't think it is a good idea."

For years, the Lin family has aided the royal family and the thought of uniting with them never entered their minds. It was only the royal family who constantly tried to push the idea of marriage to them but because Lin Xiaomeng was always away for the war, the previous emperor didn't want to put more load on Lin Xiaomeng's shoulders and forgot to mention his intention to unite the two families.

"That is what I was thinking too." Lin Feng nodded his head, "The empress must be doing this not only to reign his son's action but also to rope us into the problems of the royal family."

Wu Jing Yan silently agreed with him. Lin Feng's words were indeed convincing as there was nothing good will happen if they got involved with the royal family who has thousands of enemies everywhere.

Lin Feng was glad that the woman before him was thinking the same thing as he did. Not many of his women in the inner courtyard could guess what he was thinking and share the same thoughts.

He felt a sudden pang of guilt hitting his heart at how silent his wife treated him. It seems that he needed to spend more time with her.

While her husband was thinking of that, Wu Jing Yan was silent and doubted that Lin Xiaofei would be silent over this and not do anything.

After the fiasco where Ke Song died, Wu Jing Yan somehow could understand that the fourth young miss of the Lin family was not that easy as she had thought.

She won't deny that she fought with words with Lin Xiaofei but it was not as many and frequent as Song Yan Yi, hence, her hatred towards Lin Xiaofei wasn't that intense.

However, she was muddle-headed at that time when she ordered Ke Song to go to Lin Xiaofei's courtyard, and seeing his dead body, she was forcefully pulled to wake up like her body was doused with cold water.

Lin Xiaofei's beautiful face that didn't even pale when seeing the dead body of Ke Song as if seeing a dead body to her was normal, to Wu Jing Yan, that face was like a nightmare to her.

And ever since, Wu Jing Yan tried to stay away from Lin Xiaofei and stop trying to get herself in trouble. She preoccupied her mind with household management and forgot that she even has a husband.

Wu Jing Yan still didn't have an idea that her husband was planning to spend more time with her, and if she was to know about it, she might have to prepare another room to sleep in.
