The Blue Eyes

Chapter 169 - LET'S FIGHT TOGETHER

"So, you said that you met a bartender in Rodein who told you about a possibility of weapons smuggling from Primea to Calenta before the last year's war?"

Kevin could hear Julia's question from the end of the phone, and he nodded his head unconsciously as if he forgot that the other person couldn't see his head movement.

"Yeah, Jule," he replied. "I'm sorry that I forgot to tell you about that yesterday. We suddenly focused on Blue, and I didn't remember to tell you the important information."

"No worries, Kev. I will investigate it. The weapons from the last year's war were also from Primea, so of course, there was a smuggling case before the war. But, you gave me important information about the man who came to the bar, Kev. I will ask for the bar's surveillance camera footage to find a suspicious figure."

Kevin nodded his head again. His eyes suddenly caught sight of Kris, who just stepped out of the bathroom.. His lover was wearing a pair of jeans and wearing nothing to cover his upper body. A small towel was on his head, and he was walking toward him. He reflectively pulled up the corner of his lips to make a beautiful curve.

The taller man sat down beside him on the edge of the bed. He gave him a questioning look, but he just placed his index finger in front of his lips, non-verbally asking Kris to keep quiet.

"Alright, Jule," Kevin went back again to the person on the phone. He could see his lover raised an eyebrow, but he ignored him. "Please let me know if you get more information about that," he continued.

"Don't worry, Kev. I will tell you right away after I get more information," Julia replied. "I'll hang up now. Please say hi from me to your boyfriend."

Julia's last sentence caused the pair of blue sapphires to widen in surprise. "You know that Kris is with me now?"

He could hear Julia laughing softly before she said, "You paused for a minute all of a sudden, and I could guess that someone was coming to your side just now. Am I right?"

Kevin couldn't help but blush. He cleared his throat before he replied, "I'll call you later, Jule. Have a good day." He then hung up the phone call.

He just put the phone back on the table when his ears caught a soft voice.

"So, the first thing you did after you woke up is calling a woman?"

Kevin turned to his lover again and saw his lover's bored expression. He chuckled as he stretched out his hands to take over the towel on his lover's head. He then gently helped Kris to dry his hair.

"I just remembered that I haven't told Julia one important thing about the case, so I immediately called her before I forget again," the young scientist explained.

"You should have given me a morning kiss first before calling anyone," Kris argued.

Kevin just smiled as his hands kept moving on top of his lover's head. "Julia said hi to you," he said. "It seems that she regards you as her friend now."

Kris gazed at Kevin intently as he replied, "She is a good friend of yours, Kev. I'm lucky if she also regards me as a friend."

Kevin stopped his movement on Kris's head. He pulled the towel away from the head and placed it on his lap. He then returned Kris's intent gaze.

"She will be lucky as well if you can regard her as a friend, Kris. You're a nice person," he spoke softly to his lover.

Kris smiled as he ruffled his lover's jet-black hair. "I do regard her as a friend," he replied. "Anyway, do you like your new haircut? I like your new appearance."

Kevin smiled as he recalled the memory from last night. After he was done talking with his adoptive father on the phone, he then went back to Kris, and the latter continued his barber job right away.

The work lasted for dozen minutes before the taller man brought a mirror to him, letting him see his new haircut. Surprisingly, the haircut was perfect!

"I like it a lot," the scientist answered as he combed his hair with his slim fingers. "It's shorter and neat now, and I feel so fresh in this new haircut."

The smile on Kris's face broadened upon hearing the response. "So, I won the bet, right?" He asked as he leaned forward for a little.

Kevin giggled when he saw his lover looked so eager to claim his reward. "What do you want from me? I will try to make your wish come true."

The caramel-haired man didn't immediately answer the question. Instead, he straightened his body again as he kept gazing at Kevin intently.

Kevin was nervous under his lover's intense gaze. It looked like Kris wanted to eat him alive.

"I just want to ask you something, Kev," the taller man spoke again in a tender voice. "What were you talking about with your adoptive father last night?"

Kevin was stunned after Kris finished speaking. This is the first time Kris asked him directly about his matter. Usually, the taller man just waited silently until he was willing to share the matter with him.

"I didn't mean to pry, Kev," Kris spoke again after he got no response from the scientist. "I'm just worried about you. You have been so quiet after you answered your father's call, and I can't help but feel worried about you."

Kevin gazed at Kris in silence. He wasn't angry even if Kris wanted to pry. He was glad that he had someone who cared about him without expecting anything in return.

The shorter man smiled before answering, "My foster parents will come back to the country next week."

The answer made Kris frown. "Isn't that a good thing?" He asked confusedly.

Kevin sighed as he lowered his head, fixating his gaze on the towel on his lap. "That's a good thing," he answered. "But, there's another thing that makes me worried."

Kevin was still frowning when he stretched out his hand to lift Kevin's chin. "What's the other thing?" He asked softly.

Kevin was in dilemma. The conversation last night was like a nightmare for him. His foster parents were the conservative type that could only see a man and a woman in a relationship. They were good people, but they still looked down on same-sex couples. That was why he was in a difficult situation now.

"My father wanted to meet you," Kevin finally answered.

Kris looked startled as he retreated his hand from Kevin's chin. "Did you tell him about our relationship?" He asked again.

"My father asked me whether I have a girlfriend or not, and I told him that I have a lover."

Kris fell silent. His expression turned solemn as if he was trying to find a hidden meaning in his lover's answer. Once he could guess the meaning, he sighed as he ducked his head.

"Your parents hate gays?" He asked weakly.

Kevin felt a pang in his heart when he heard the weak voice. He carefully brought his hands to cup Kris's face, nonverbally asking him to look at his eyes. "They don't hate gays, but they just can't fully accept same-sex relationships," he explained. "Don't worry, Kris. I will speak to them personally, and I will fight for our relationship."

The caramel-haired guy was still staring at his lover as he said, "Don't talk to them alone. When it comes to our relationship, then it's my business too. I will fight with you."

Kevin felt the warmth in his heart when he heard Kris's reply. His lover gave him a look full of braveness and sincerity, and it touched his heart deeply. He now realized that he wasn't alone in the battle.

The black-haired man carefully brought his face closer to Kris and gave a chaste kiss on the latter's lips. It was just a short kiss as he immediately pulled away.

"A morning kiss for my perfect boyfriend," he whispered in front of Kris's face.

Kris finally smiled again before he used his sturdy arms to envelope Kevin's body.

He hugged his lover so tightly while giving a kiss on his lover's head. "You are the perfect boyfriend here," he said softly.

Kevin chuckled as he patted Kris's back gently. "We are perfect when we are together, Kris," he replied.

Kris suddenly pulled away as he squinted his eyes toward his lover. "You can do sweet talk now?" He asked suspiciously.

"I learned it for you. You are such a sweet talker," the young scientist replied in a flat tone.

Kris giggled before he stole a kiss on Kevin's cheek. He then got up and walked toward the wardrobe. "Just take a shower real quick, Kev. I will take you somewhere today," he said as he opened the wardrobe.

Kevin frowned at the statement. "Where are you going to take me?"

Kris didn't look back at him when he answered, "Your new car is waiting for you. Don't let it wait for so long."

And Kevin's eyes twinkled brightly after he heard the answer.
