The Blue Eyes

Chapter 264 - KRIS'S GAMBLING

Felix Smith and Jaden Dunn displayed a panicked expressions on their faces. It was already past midnight, but Steve had not come back to their base yet.

It was indeed needed a few hours for Steve to come back to their secret base again, but based on their calculation, the young man should have come back by now.

It was unusual, and that was why the two men looked anxious right now.

"What makes him so long? We only asked him to bring Kevin back here, and that shouldn't be a difficult task for him, right?" Felix asked in a frustrated tone.

"Maybe Steve is facing difficulty now," Jaden chimed in. "I've told him to bring some men with him, but he was just too stubborn!"

Jaden was someone who would get angry easily because he was a hot-tempered man. He had a strict and ambitious personality, and if things didn't go as he wished, he would be so furious easily.

"Kevin shouldn't be a big deal for Steve," Felix replied. "He could even kill seven men by himself, so only one man without powers wouldn't give him trouble."

"You don't even know Steve, so how could you be so confident of him?" Jaden questioned the younger man again.

"It's because our big boss has known him for so long and believes in his ability so much, so I also believe in his ability as well. No one can judge people better than our boss."

Jaden raised an eyebrow upon hearing Felix's statement. "I've become boss' right hand since eighteen years ago, while you only started working for him three years ago, but you sounded like you know him better than me."

Jaden sounded like someone jealous right now, and he also looked like someone who wanted to get the highest position in their boss' heart.

Felix seemed to be wanting to say something, but Jaden motioned him to stop because he suddenly felt his phone in his pants pocket vibrate. He immediately fished out his phone and read the name shown on the screen. His eyes automatically widened upon reading the name.

"It's boss," he muttered before immediately answering the call. "Hello, Sir?"

Felix remained quiet as he observed Jaden's conversation with their boss. Even though he couldn't hear their boss' voice, he still tried to guess what their boss was talking about with Jaden.

"Yes, we have asked Steve to kidnap Kevin, but he had not come back yet. Should we ask some men to check his condition in the city, Sir?"

Felix could guess that their boss questioned the matter related to Steve. They had reported to their boss that Kevin was the one who could activate the little robot left by Selena Beischel, and their boss was the one who instructed Steve to kidnap Kevin in the city.

They all didn't know what the robot could do for them, but their boss once eavesdropped when Selena was talking about the robot with Kris. That was why they assumed that the robot was important, and they decided to kidnap Kris because Kris was the one who discussed the robot with Selena last year.

But, to their dismay, Kris told them that Kevin was the one who would be able to turn on the robot. They probably shouldn't believe in Kris right away, but their boss instructed them to believe in the tanned man's words and kidnapped Kevin immediately.

They didn't know what was the reason for the haste decision of their boss, but they could only comply with the order.

"I understand, Sir. We will execute our plans in two days."

Felix saw how Jaden hung up the phone call and shoved the phone into the pants pocket again. He then looked up at the younger man as he said, "Our boss said that some of his men will go to the city to check Steve's situation in the city, so we don't need to send more men to find him."

The tone was stern, and Felix's expression looked solemn when he heard the older man speaking.

"I understand," Felix replied. "But I heard you said that we would execute our plans in two days? What do you mean? Don't we need to wait for the information from the robot left by Professor Selena?"

They had made meticulous plans many years ago, but Felix felt like the execution of their plans was quite hasty.

"Our boss thought that our cover must have been discovered by now, so we shouldn't delay our plans anymore," Jaden replied.

Felix sighed heavily upon hearing Jaden's reply. "Alright. Let's get ready to execute our plans."

The two men nodded at each other before walking toward the door and leaving the room immediately.

Now there was only Kris in the spacious room. Yes. Kris was there all along, listening to the conversation despite not understanding anything. He was still tied by the strong rope, and he couldn't do anything other than listen to their conversation.

He didn't understand what they were talking about, but at least he could heave a sigh of relief because Steve seemed to be failed in bringing Kevin to the base. Kris's hunch was right. His lover indeed had a secret plan on his sleeve.

He was gambling when he told those evil men that Kevin was the one who could activate AZURE. He had noticed something was strange with Kevin's body, and even if he wasn't sure about it, he had a thought that his lover still had the power within his body.

He still remembered when Kevin's hand was hurt by the knife when he tried to save Jack from Julia's attack. The wound was quickly healed even if Kevin didn't go to the hospital. Aside from that, he also noticed that Kevin's body temperature could be so low sometimes.

Kris made a bet, but it seemed that he won this time. He could prove Kevin's powers and also managed to send Steve to his lover.. He was sure that his lover would be able to do something to Steve.
