The Commoner Consort: The Country's Respected Empress

Xavier suddenly felt a crazy craving of her. Her eyes didn't actually met his. It only crossed his eyes for a split second. Only thing hurt him was that she wants to leave his country.

He felt a pang in his heart with that thought and he himself found staring at her in passion. Without realizing he spoke some words not even thinking for a mere second "I will help you!".

'If a single glimpse could do this to me, what could she do to me ....She is going to be my death'.

As soon as he spoke, the whole crowd offer their attention to him but he only cared for those brown eyes.

'I can die to get her eyes on me!'.

He is surprised by his thoughts and composes his attitude.

The old man spoke "Young man? Can you take this child to The Harbor?".

Xavier nods "I will" and meets the girl's confusing look. Her eyes looked at the old man again as if he was her saviour.

The old man pats her head "Don't worry child. No man in this nation would have ill intentions towards a woman and especially a guest from other country".

The girl looked scared yet nods at the old man.

'Oh I wish I could be that old man..so that she could look into my eyes too...'.

She stands weakly making Xavier to frown 'Is she hurt? Why couldn't she stand?'.

Maya clutches her fist so that she could withstand the pain. She had no idea how she ended up in this hut!. After falling from the waterfalls, her memory didn't help her to connect the points. Everything was like free ends. They didn't make any sense!.

So she decides to keep her mouth shut and leave this dangerous place as soon as possible before someone finds her existence. She could no longer see those vicious Princess or The arrogant Crown Prince!.

Maya looks at the man who came forwards to help her. Even though she was scared to believe a stranger, she had no choice!.

'I just want to leave this place! So that no one could harm me! I don't want to face those evil people! It is great that no one saw my face except the three people...

Veronica...Molly and Sarah..I hope they forget my face'.

She felt so sad for Sarah.

'The poor girl...Would she be crying for me? For a mere girl who stayed for a single day in that Pavilion? And the new girl Molly..would she be waiting for me to punish her? What about the woman and her children? Will Sarah still take care of them or...'.

Suddenly she felt someone's grip on her wrist.

"What are you thinking about My Lady?".

The man's eyes were looking at her deeply.

But Maya pulls out her hands from his grip immediately "Don't touch me!....please". A warning escaped from both her words and her eyes.

Xavier was in utter shock... in a pleasant way. He noticed her lost in thoughts and wanted to wake her from her daydream. He wants her to see him...not an empty space before her.

Maya doesn't like to trust anyone and turns towards the old man whether to believe this man ....be the old man gave her an assured smile.

She looks at Xavier again and says politely "Please lead the way. I can follow-".

Xavier smirks "What about my horse my lady? I am not a madman to walk miles even having it? How can I help you when you didn't let me to?".

Maya looks at him and the horse worriedly.

Xavier's smirk broadens 'Is she a Princess by any chance?! What's with her non-touchy attitude? What if she is really a Princess of some nation?!'.

The thought made him to smile in ecstasy. 'Now I will see how you don't get on the horse with me'.

Maya lets out a deep and confident breath and asks "You can tell me the way. I can go to the harbor myself".

This line made Xavier to freeze and he lies fluidly "The way is complicated and dangerous".

He looks at her in disbelief 'Does she want to go alone by walking for miles instead of going with me by my horse?! I told her it would be dangerous!'.

Maya smiles bitterly at his words 'What could be more dangerous than the palace and The Royals?!'.

She nods "I can go by myself Sir. Please instruct me the way I should go by".

Xavier smiles at her politeness "You are quite stubborn my lady".

Maya mutters "I know..".

Xavier pulls the reins of his horse and declares "Let's move or we will not reach by this evening. This place doesn't suit for travelling in night".

Maya looks at him confused "So..You are going to walk with me?".

Xavier smirks "It's a shame to abandon a beautiful lady in distress!".

Maya states "I am not in distress sir. Thank you for helping me".

Even though she was in distress, she couldn't say it to a mere stranger. She doesn't even trust him but she hand no other way. And instead of getting lost in this unknown country again, better to ask this man to take her to her freedom!.

She doesn't want to stay here and let people find about her 'identity'. The Crown Prince's Wife!.

The title now felt so distant to her and she has no regrets to throw it away. As it never belong to her and doesn't want that too... It almost cost her life!.

'Nothing matters more than me and my life!'.

Xavier speaks noticing her lost in thoughts again "Back to Earth my lady. You would age soon if you think so much".

Maya sighs muttering "I hope they don't acknowledge my absence at all...Until I leave from here..".

'Would Sarah have found that I was missing? I wish I could say her a goodbye...She was the only person cared for me even it was her duty'.

Xavier watches her intently. She was mumbling something and frowning worriedly. Again!.

Maya asks getting out from her daze "When will we reach the harbor sir?".

Xavier answers stiffly "By this evening?". He lied about the path being dangerous and complicated.

'Wouldn't she find my lie if I take her by the normal one?! What would she think of me? I can't afford to lose her trust'.
