#199 - Speedsters are best at arriving one step late
Yang Le and the others didn't have to wait long. Only about twenty minutes later, the Prime Universe Peter found the place they had agreed upon.
"Where's the metal guy?"
Peter asked the question as soon as he landed.
"That would be me," Yang Le said, standing up.
"That state is one of my abilities."
Peter nodded to show he understood, then asked, "Can you tell me about the multiverse crisis now?"
"Of course."
Yang Le nodded and walked over to Peter. Peter also noticed Gwen beside Yang Le, but the Prime Universe Peter was an old veteran who had experienced many major events, so this level of situation didn't scare him.
"One of the instigators of this matter is an old acquaintance of yours, Morlun."
Then Yang Le explained the Spider-Verse event to the Prime Universe Peter in detail.
"So, we now need to find Kaine Parker, who represents 'The Other,' and Cindy Moon, who represents 'The Bride.' They are the key to this event."
"Cindy is still in New York," the Prime Universe Peter said, proving that he was indeed a Spider-Man who had weathered many storms, with a strong ability to adapt, seamlessly connecting and communicating with Yang Le.
"As for Kaine..." Peter stroked his chin before saying uncertainly.
"Honestly, I'm not very sure where he is. He joined the New Warriors. I remember their base being in the Wundagore Mountains in Eastern Europe."
"Can you contact him?" Yang Le asked.
"If I'm not mistaken, the Inheritors' next target will be the two of them. Cindy being in New York is easier to deal with, but Kaine is too far away. We can't know what's happening there in the first place."
"I can try to contact them," Peter said.
"Time is of the essence," Yang Le raised the Omnitrix.
"I think it's best if I go take a look first."
"That's several thousand kilometers away from here," Peter widened his eyes.
"No matter what kind of transportation you use, it will take several hours."
"I only need a second." Yang Le found the alien hero he wanted, and with a flash of white light, XLR8, the speedster dinosaur, appeared again.
"Let's split up," Yang Le, in XLR8 form, spoke very quickly, making Peter a little unaccustomed to it.
"You guys go find Cindy Moon, I'll take care of Kaine, and we'll meet here in the end."
"You alone?"
Peter was a little worried. Although he didn't know the other Inheritors, he knew Morlun's strength. He was indeed a very difficult opponent who had pushed him to the brink several times, so he couldn't help but worry about Yang Le acting alone.
"Don't worry," Gwen looked a little displeased, but still explained to Peter.
"He's the strongest among us, and also at running away."
"I'd be very touched if you didn't add that last sentence," Yang Le smiled helplessly, then disappeared.
"Alright, it's time for us to get to work," Gwen stretched.
"Otherwise, we'll be outdone by someone."
"Looks like you're still competing with that someone," George teased with a smile.
"Being friends doesn't mean I have to admit defeat," Gwen put on her mask and shot out a web first.
Not to mention Gwen's large group, Yang Le had already arrived in the Wundagore Mountains of Eastern Europe, but as soon as he arrived, Yang Le began to mutter to himself, not because of the freezing cold temperature, of course.
The dazzling portal at the mountainside seemed to be telling Yang Le that he was one step late again.
"I'm already used to it." As soon as the voice came out, Yang Le had disappeared, leaving his words behind him as he exceeded the speed of sound.
In an instant, Yang Le had arrived at the entrance of the New Warriors' base, although this entrance looked more like a blasted-open hole, but it didn't prevent Yang Le from using it. This place should have been an intact wall.
Yang Le did not expose himself, but maintained a super high speed, dodging and hiding as he made his way into the base. There were many fallen superheroes along the way, most of whom were fringe characters from the comics, and non-comic fans might not even know their names.
Some were dead, but some were still alive. Yang Le put the living ones together and continued to move deeper. He had more important things to do now, so he would let these superhumans wait a bit.
Deep inside the base, Yang Le finally heard movement. He hid in the dark and found a well-known hero lying not far away—Nova.
The instigators of all this were the Inheritors, Jennix and Daemos, who were standing together, watching Jennix's slaves besiege a Spider-Man wearing a red and black suit.
This Spider-Man was a clone of Peter Parker, said to be superior to the original Peter in every way, Kaine Parker.

However, this stronger Spider-Man was somewhat overwhelmed by the siege of several supervillains.
Rhino, Kraven the Hunter, Hammerhead, Tombstone. It must be said that Jennix had some perverse tastes, as the slaves he chose were all classic Spider-Man villains.
"I remember Father only told me to capture The Other, right, brother?" Jennix said, with her hands placed on her lower abdomen, chatting with Daemos beside her. Her expression was blank, as if she was watching the melee in front of her as a performance.
"Father didn't say I couldn't come to the 616 universe," Daemos said, touching the scratch on his face, which Nova had left earlier.
"Won't Morlun get angry?" Jennix asked.
"If it weren't for Father, I wouldn't dare to come to this universe. Morlun will definitely be furious if he finds out."
"He's nothing!" Daemos gritted his teeth, not knowing whether he was talking about their father or Morlun.
"Why should I care about his thoughts?"
Seeing this, Jennix stopped talking, just as the melee in front of her was about to come to an end.
Two fists are no match for four hands, let alone when the enemy has four people, eight hands. Kaine finally fell in this siege.
Rhino placed the scarred Kaine at Jennix's feet, then stood respectfully to the side with the other four, waiting for their master's next order.
"This is the legendary Other?" Jennix bent down, wanting to carefully observe this special Spider-Man.
"Who...are...you!" Kaine opened his mouth with difficulty, still not knowing who had attacked them.
"Your predator," Jennix said, lightly parting her red lips.
"Wh...at?" Kaine didn't react for a moment, after all, it sounded too absurd.
"Your stupidity makes you seem cute to me," Jennix chuckled. "If it weren't necessary to sacrifice you, I would really want to enjoy you alone."
"Sacri...fice?" Kaine struggled, wanting to get up.
"You bunch of lunatics!"
Kaine had just supported himself when Jennix stepped him down, the stiletto heel of her high heel piercing hard into Kaine's flesh.
