#221 - Abnormal people
Although Yang Le was very polite in communicating with these robbers, they were not so polite and hurled a barrage of foul language at him.
"Go to hell! You freak!" the robber yelled, pulling out a handgun and preparing to shoot Yang Le.
Faced with someone who wouldn't listen to reason, Yang Le never had much patience. He tilted his head to dodge the bullet and swung the whip in his hand again, this time aiming not at the gun.
"Snap!" "Aaaaaah!"
Another cracking sound echoed as the robber's arm bent at a point where there was no joint. It was clearly broken, and the robber screamed in agony, collapsing to his knees.
"I gave you a chance."
With that, Yang Le lashed out with his whip, one strike per person, knocking all the goons at the door to the ground. However, their injuries were not as severe as the foul-mouthed one from the start; they were just superficial wounds.
Ignoring the groaning goons, Yang Le landed and walked into the bank. As soon as he entered, he saw the crowd gathered together, surrounded by the bandits.
The bandits had obviously noticed the commotion at the door, but before they could figure out what was happening outside, Yang Le walked in.
"Don't move!" A robber grabbed a hostage from the ground, pointing a gun at her head.
"If you move again, I'll kill her!"
Forced to become a hostage, the woman was naturally terrified, begging the robber to spare her life, while her eyes looked hopefully towards Yang Le.
At this point, she didn't care if Yang Le was even human. To survive, she would seize any opportunity, even if the person opposite her was a monster.
However, Yang Le's next words chilled her to the bone.
"Go ahead and shoot," Yang Le shrugged, seemingly not caring about the hostage's life at all.
"Wh-what?" The robber thought he had misheard. His eyes, visible through the mask, widened like bells.
"I said, fire at will," Yang Le spread his hands. "You can do whatever you want, but remember, once these hostages die, I will definitely kill all of you. I mean it."
"You… you're bluffing!" The robber swallowed, his words stuttering, but he still shouted loudly, putting on a tough act.
The robber pressed the gun tightly against the hostage's temple, desperately trying to look like a desperate criminal, hoping to scare Yang Le away, but Yang Le wasn't buying it.
Yang Le extended his light whip, binding the robber with the broken arm from outside and throwing him in front of everyone.
"Drop your weapons and surrender, and I'll spare your lives. Otherwise, I guarantee you'll be even worse off than this guy."
The groaning of the robber with the broken arm and the sight of his exposed bone stimulated the other robbers. After hesitating, they dropped their weapons and raised their hands in surrender.
"Good children," Yang Le nodded. "Now go out and surrender obediently. Oh, and remember to bring your companion."
The robbers lifted their companion with the broken arm and walked out of the bank dejectedly.
Seeing the robbers subdued, Yang Le scanned the bank, confirming there were no other ambushes, and said.
"Alright, ladies and gentlemen, you are safe now."
With that, Yang Le prepared to leave. After all, he was still in his Dragonoid form, and he didn't think he would be welcomed, especially since Peter, who had exposed his identity, had faced discrimination.
But just as Yang Le was about to leave, something unexpected happened.
The rescued crowd cheered and ran towards him, constantly expressing their gratitude, like the common people welcoming a hero in a story.
Especially the female hostage, she practically threw herself onto Yang Le, not caring about his current appearance at all.
The woman looked up at Yang Le, tearfully saying, "Thank you so much, you saved my life!"
"Uh…" Faced with the excited crowd, Yang Le was sweating. What was this? Why were they so enthusiastic? Had they never seen anything like this before?
It wasn't that Yang Le wasn't used to it. Even when he saved Franklin's universe, he hadn't received this kind of treatment. It wasn't to say that the Fantastic Four were cold and heartless, but rather that this group of people was too enthusiastic, making Yang Le a little overwhelmed.
Especially the woman buried in his chest, the distance had exceeded Yang Le's personal safety range. Yang Le didn't like being so intimate with strangers, which made him very uncomfortable. Yang Le raised his hands, wanting to push the woman away.
"Bang!"
A gunshot rang out! Yang Le frowned and swept the woman to the ground with a wave of his hand.
"Ah!" The woman cried out in pain, falling to the ground, but she quickly propped herself up, giggling stupidly. In her right hand, she held a smoking pistol.

"Ding!"
The twisted bullet fell to the ground. Yang Le touched his armored abdomen. The bullet had hit his stomach, but unfortunately, the small-caliber pistol had not penetrated his scales.
Yang Le didn't know what was wrong with this woman, nor was he interested in knowing why she attacked him. He only knew that she had secretly fired at him from this distance, clearly intending to kill him, so he wouldn't spare her.
But just as Yang Le condensed his light whip, he realized something was wrong. Not only was the woman on the ground giggling, but the surrounding crowd was also acting strangely.
Logically speaking, when normal people hear a gunshot, they would scream, run away, or even squat down and cover their heads, or even lose control of their bowels. In short, they would react in some way, but the people surrounding him showed no reaction at all.
They were still cheering, laughing, and praising Yang Le, without a trace of other emotions, as if they were programmed robots, only knowing how to execute commands.
This was very abnormal. Yang Le knew that someone must have set a trap for him, but who was it?
'Never mind, I'll leave these people first,' Yang Le spread his wings and prepared to fly away from the crowd.
The crowd surrounding him was still laughing, but they took out guns from their hands. Although these weapons were of different models, their target was the same: Yang Le.
The muzzles were aimed at Yang Le, and the surrounding crowd didn't care if they would hit others, and pulled the trigger at the same time.
Yang Le cursed inwardly. These people should all be ordinary people, but they were being controlled. Yang Le couldn't watch them kill each other.
"Boom!"
He activated the jetpack on his back, and a white energy spewed out from the bottom of the pack. With this energy, Yang Le soared into the sky.
The huge impact overturned the crowd surrounding him. Yang Le, who was flying into the air, left several light circles in place. The bullets that hit those light circles all turned into dust, no longer having any killing power.
