#264 - No more disqualification
"How beautiful!" Starbrand murmured, gazing at the towering tree before him.
This was the result of the Lords of the Abyss and Nothingness staking their lives. To save the world, they resolutely sacrificed themselves, catching everyone present off guard.
"How dare you!" The Serpent-tailed Beyonder God roared, his eyes wide with fury. He saw no beauty in this Tree of Sacrifice, only desecration.
"You will pay the price for your experiments!" Thor raised the Mjolnir of the Unworthy. "Your comrades have already died; it's your turn to follow!"
The comrades’ valiant sacrifice didn’t scare Thor; instead, it ignited boundless battle intent within him. Gathering the strength of a thousand pounds in his hands, Thor aimed to kill the opponent with a single blow—a strike that even the great god Odin would have avoided in the past.
"Foolish."
But the Serpent-tailed Beyonder God didn't dodge or evade. He extended his slender hands, which seemed devoid of any power, and effortlessly blocked Thor's full-force attack.
"What!?" Thor exclaimed in shock, exerting all his strength to break free, but he couldn't pull his hands away.
The Serpent-tailed Beyonder God, without joy or sorrow, exerted a slight force, tearing off Thor's right arm.
"Ah!" Even Thor couldn't help but scream in agony from the immense pain.
"How boring." The Serpent-tailed Beyonder God tossed Thor aside like trash.
"Do you know the meaning of our existence? Compared to us, even the lives of an entire universe are insignificant."
Starbrand was terrified. Although he possessed the powerful Starbrand Force, he was still just a youth, far inferior to the battle-hardened Thor and Hyperion. This bloody and hopeless battle left him at a loss.
Hyperion caught the heavily injured Thor. He spared a glance at Starbrand, his eyes widening in horror.
"Starbrand, watch out!"
Starbrand heard Hyperion's warning, but before he could react, a sharp spike pierced through his chest. Only when he saw the gushing blood did Starbrand feel the belated pain.
The Serpent-tailed Beyonder God retracted his right hand, which had transformed into a sharp weapon. He wanted these inferior beings to die painfully before him, to show them the consequences of defying the Beyonder Gods.
"Ugh!"
An orange-red ray enveloped the Serpent-tailed Beyonder God's body, instantly melting him into a puddle of liquid.
It was Hyperion. His face contorted with rage, he advanced, increasing the ray's output, vowing to completely obliterate the Beyonder God.
"Look at me! Monster!" Hyperion roared. "I am the light! I am the sun!"
"Foolish!"
The next moment, the Beyonder God, who had turned into liquid, reappeared before Hyperion, plunging his thumbs straight into Hyperion's eye sockets.
"Every star in the sky, which one wasn't created by us?"
"Aaaaaah!" Hyperion gripped the Serpent-tailed Beyonder God's hands tightly, trying to pull his fingers from his eye sockets, but it was futile. The powerful Hyperion couldn't budge those slender hands even slightly!
"Bang!"
The heavily injured Thor used all his strength to throw himself at the Serpent-tailed Beyonder God, rescuing Hyperion. Both of them fell onto the drifting rock slabs in this space, gaining a moment to breathe.
In just a breath's time, the Serpent-tailed Beyonder God was upon them again, looking down at them condescendingly. The two renowned powerhouses of the multiverse could only cower before the Beyonder God like stray dogs.
"We… will never… surrender!" Thor said intermittently, his voice weak but unwavering.
"Who cares?" The Serpent-tailed Beyonder God said expressionlessly, his hands wriggling again as he pondered what weapon to conjure to torture the two to death.
"Hmm?" The Serpent-tailed Beyonder God turned his head, discovering that it was Starbrand, whom he had severely injured earlier. The latter was now clinging to him with all fours, looking nothing like a superhero.
Thanks to his slender neck, the Serpent-tailed Beyonder God could even see the wound on Starbrand's back. Was this laughable inferior being trying to buy his companions a chance at survival in this way?
'How ridiculous. I can even see the blood flowing from his back.' The Serpent-tailed Beyonder God mocked Starbrand's overestimation of himself, about to break free when he suddenly realized that what was flowing from Starbrand's back wasn't just blood, but also a dreamy, smoke-like energy.
"Wait!" The Serpent-tailed Beyonder God exclaimed in horror, immediately guessing Starbrand's intention. "You actually want to drag a Beyonder God down with you!"
As he spoke, the Serpent-tailed Beyonder God twisted his body, trying to throw Starbrand off. He didn't dare to further harm Starbrand's body, as it would only make the energy within him more unstable.
Unlike the Beyonder God, who was displaying an ugly struggle for survival like a rogue snake, Starbrand simply raised his head and smiled, saying:
"Who cares."
Under Starbrand's control, the immense Starbrand Force was extremely compressed, and the explosion range was contained within a small area. Even Thor and Hyperion, who were close by, were not harmed in the slightest.
Looking at the huge Starbrand symbol not far away, Thor couldn't speak for a long time, but Hyperion spoke first.
"Although I'm blind now, it must be beautiful, right?"
"Yes." Thor nodded solemnly. The next moment, he dragged his heavy body up.
"We're in trouble, buddy."
Hyperion immediately understood. He smirked and said, "How many?"
"I don't know?" Thor staggered towards the Mjolnir of the Unworthy that had fallen to the side. "Anyway, I can't count them all."
Thor bent down, wanting to pick up the Mjolnir of the Unworthy, but he was surprised to find that the hammer, which was originally as light as a feather, could not be lifted again no matter how hard he tried.
'Am I losing too much blood?' Thor frowned, carefully observing the Mjolnir of the Unworthy in front of him, until he saw the words engraved on it.
Whoever wants to pick up this hammer, as long as he is not worthy, he can obtain the power of Thor.
"Haha!" Thor first chuckled, and then he couldn't help but burst into laughter.
"Hahahahaha!"
"What's wrong?" Hyperion asked, unable to see what was happening in front of him due to his blindness.
"It's nothing." Thor slowly pulled out the battle axe behind him. "It's just that I've been abandoned by the hammer again."
Hyperion knew about the Mjolnir of the Unworthy, and he said with a smile, "That's really congratulations."
After speaking, the two fell silent at the same time, and then jumped up at the same time, responding to the huge crack in the air. Countless shadows poured out from the crack, and the Beyonder Gods of various shapes swarmed towards Thor and Hyperion like cockroaches.
Thor and Hyperion were not afraid at all. They were ready to sacrifice themselves for the entire universe.
But things always go wrong.
Just as the two sides were about to make contact, a slender figure that no one could ignore appeared in the center of both sides.
Thor's eyes widened. He saw the body as deep as the universe, like an insurmountable chasm across them.
The other party turned to face the Beyonder Gods, and then the next moment…
The Beyonder Gods disappeared.
Thor and Hyperion's plot is what I think is the best part of the whole Secret Wars. Most of the other places are a mess. The Illuminati is not mentioned, after all, they are still doing things. Captain America is really a heavyweight, without him the 616 universe would be much easier.
