#291 - The Flash in a Loop
"Be careful, everyone," Flash shouted, reminding the superheroes present.
"Although I said it over comms, I still need to reiterate that this guy is definitely faster than me, and..."
Flash spared a glance at Yang Le beside him, the latter looking disheveled after the entire confrontation.
"The opponent should only have one target, which is this gentleman beside me. Just now, the opponent launched hundreds of attacks against him."
Superman and Martian Manhunter remained silent. One relied on his super vision, and the other on Martian senses, both having witnessed what had happened not long ago. But this information was crucial for Green Lantern and Wonder Woman.
"Knowing the opponent's target makes things easier," Green Lantern's ring emitted a dazzling light, and a hollow green sphere enveloped Yang Le. With Green Lantern's movements, Yang Le gradually ascended into the sky within the sphere, intending to raise him to a height beyond the opponent's reach.
A cyan current flashed, and the blue shadow clearly wouldn't let Green Lantern succeed so easily. He rushed towards Yang Le before the sphere could fully form, but a golden lightning bolt blocked his path, none other than the Flash.
Just as Green Lantern said, although Barry's speed was now inferior to the blue shadow, as long as he knew the opponent's target, Barry could intercept the opponent's offensive in advance through prediction.
Moreover, Barry had been worried that the blue shadow would attack the injured Wally and others, so he had been holding back. After all, even an uninjured Wally couldn't keep up with him, let alone the blue shadow who was even faster.
So, Barry had been in a passive state. But now, with powerful teammates backing him up, Barry could wholeheartedly deal with the enemy in front of him, and the roles of offense and defense were reversed.
One cyan, one gold, two currents began to chase each other constantly. Only Superman and Martian Manhunter could barely keep up with their speed, but even they could only see a blurry shadow.
"Who has the upper hand now?" Wonder Woman retreated to the crowd and questioned Superman.
"I don't know either," Superman smiled awkwardly. "I lost track three seconds ago. What about you, J'onn?"
"I'm not sure either," Martian Manhunter shook his head. "I only know that they've circled the Earth several times."
During the few sentences the others exchanged, things were completely different in the eyes of the speedsters. Flash and the blue shadow chased each other, already circling the Earth several times. During this time, Flash always maintained a distance of three to four body lengths from the blue shadow. Although the gap wasn't large, he couldn't close it.
To ordinary people, only about three seconds had passed, but for Flash, it felt like he had been chasing for a long time. A hint of doubt couldn't help but appear in his mind. What exactly was the other party doing?
Although he was unwilling to admit it, Flash had to acknowledge that he couldn't catch up with the blue shadow in his current state. The other party should know this as well, so why was he still engaging in this meaningless chase?
'That's not right!' Barry's pupils constricted. He finally noticed something was wrong. The other party wasn't avoiding his pursuit, but accelerating. Through long-distance running, the other party's speed was constantly increasing.
Barry wasn't a mediocre person. On the contrary, he was very smart. Coupled with his extremely fast thinking speed, he could even be considered one of the top intellectuals on Earth. Barry speculated that the other party's speed had already begun to steadily increase when they were circling the Earth for the second time.
The reason Barry hadn't noticed was because his own speed was also increasing along with the other party's. The two had entered a very special state. Through constant running, the Speed Force was constantly being generated, and the other party's overflowing Speed Force was constantly affecting Barry.
Like a windbreaker in a marathon race, the blue shadow in front was Barry's windbreaker. Relying on the other party, Barry's speed reached a new level.
But the other party shouldn't have intended this, because Barry found that the other party's speed was climbing faster and faster. Barry was getting further and further away from the other party.
Three body lengths, four body lengths, five body lengths, out of reach! Until the other party appeared behind him, watching the blue shadow pass him, Barry knew that he had been lapped.
Confusion, unwillingness, and other emotions burst out in an instant. Barry gritted his teeth and was about to increase his speed again, but a familiar voice rang in his mind.
"Stop! Barry!" Cold and full of authority, it was Batman's voice.
What? Barry was shocked and subconsciously stopped his footsteps. He should have stopped as usual, but he felt a burst of weakness in his legs, and then he stumbled and fell.
Fortunately, he wasn't met with the hard, cold ground. Superman took the lead and caught him before he landed.
Barry wanted to say thank you, but found that he couldn't open his mouth at all. Not only that, but he also felt weak, and didn't even have the strength to control his fingers.
"Good heavens," Superman couldn't help but sigh as he looked at the emaciated Barry in his arms. After years of fighting side by side, it was the first time he had seen his comrade so battered.
A black shadow descended from the sky. Batman looked at the Flash in Superman's arms, who was unrecognizable, and immediately took out a strangely shaped syringe from his utility belt, and stuck it into the Flash's relatively fleshy thigh.
As the liquid in the test tube continued to inject, Barry's eyes slowly closed. Superman activated his X-ray vision and nodded to Batman after confirming that Barry had only fainted.
"He's okay, he just fell asleep."
Batman's hanging heart finally fell. He said in a hoarse voice, "Then let him sleep, take him to the Watchtower, he must receive treatment immediately."
Hal and the others, who arrived late, were also shocked and angry when they saw this scene, especially Hal, who asked in a deep voice.
"What's wrong with him?"
"Flash is fine," Batman stood up, hiding his body under his cloak. "He just ran for too long and needs to replenish some energy."
"That's good." Everyone was relieved to hear Batman say this.
"What about that blue guy?" Hal clenched his fists, and the light of the power ring shone brightly. "I'm going to give him some lessons."
"Obviously the other party has already left." Batman didn't know where he got another instrument, and scanned it around a few times. "And even if the other party is still here, you can't do anything about him, even Barry can't catch up with him."
"Summon everyone," Batman retracted the instrument. "Bring the person that Barry mentioned, let's go to the Watchtower together."
