#39 - Identify the culprit
"Alright." Gwen took off her mask, shook her hair, and looked at Yang Le, who had just walked out of the portal.
"Can you tell me about your findings now? Detective."
"I wouldn't dare call myself a detective, but I do have some guesses." After returning to the base, Yang Le also deactivated his transformation. "First of all, Mr. Matt definitely wasn't telling us the truth."
"I could guess that much." Gwen crossed her arms and leaned against the wall. "But we don't know which statement of his was a lie."
"No, Gwen, it doesn't matter which statement was a lie. We just need to know that he lied or concealed something."
Gwen obviously didn't understand, and she asked in confusion, "What do you mean?"
"Every cause has an effect. Think carefully, Gwen, why was Uncle George assassinated? Who has he offended recently?"
In fact, Yang Le already had the answer in his mind, but in order to train Gwen, he chose to guide Gwen to say the answer herself.
Gwen pondered for a while, and suddenly thought of something, and quickly said, "That terrorist! My dad has been investigating the person who bailed that terrorist out, and he seems to have made some progress recently."
"That's right, a person who has the ability to bail a terrorist out of jail is very likely to have the guts and ability to assassinate a police officer who wants to investigate them."
Yang Le affirmed Gwen's guess, and then continued.
"So now our goal is very clear. Who is your dad investigating? That person must be the root of all evil. Do you have any clues about this?"
"My dad has already scolded me once because of this matter." Gwen scratched her hair angrily.
"Don't worry, Gwen." Yang Le reached out and put his hand on Gwen's shoulder to comfort her. "If one path doesn't work, you can go around it. Don't forget, we have another clue."
"You mean… Matt Murdock?" Gwen said uncertainly.
"That's right, our Murdock lawyer doesn't have such a good reputation. Do you remember who he works for?" Yang Le looked at Gwen encouragingly.
Gwen looked into Yang Le's eyes, and under his encouragement, she slowly said the name.
"I remember the newspaper said his name was Wilson Fisk?"
"He can also be called—Kingpin, that's his title in the underworld, a man with extraordinary influence." Yang Le went to the console and pulled up Kingpin's photo. A burly, bald, white man appeared on the screen.
"Fortunately, Kingpin fits several of our previous conjectures. He lacks nothing in terms of power, ambition, and courage. If he is really the mastermind, then Matt is definitely not as simple as we thought. I speculate that Matt is very likely to be the leader of the Hand, so tonight's warehouse ambush can be explained."
"Who would have thought that Daredevil, who fought the Hand in another universe, would become its leader in this universe." Yang Le sighed.
"I know this person." Gwen seemed to have thought of something when she looked at Kingpin's photo. "His photo is hanging on the whiteboard in my dad's room."
"It seems the answer is about to come out." Yang Le nodded and then summarized.
"Uncle George investigated the case and found out about Kingpin, which angered Kingpin. Kingpin ordered Matt to get rid of Uncle George, and then Matt sent out the Hand ninjas."
"That should be right." Gwen, who got the answer, immediately became excited, and her water-colored eyes were filled with joy.
"Next, we just need to arrest Kingpin."
"I'm sorry, Gwen, arresting Kingpin is probably impossible right now." Yang Le said from the side.
"Why?" Gwen looked at Yang Le in confusion. "He is the murderer who attacked my dad."
"There is no evidence to prove this. If you want to arrest him, you must have conclusive evidence." Yang Le spread his hands helplessly. "Of course, if you want to use lynching, then pretend I didn't say anything."
Gwen opened her mouth, but didn't speak, tightly捏着the mask in her hand, and finally let go and sat weakly on the ground.
"If I use lynching, then what's the difference between me and those guys."
'Actually, I think killing that guy should be considered doing a good deed.' Yang Le looked at the self-closed Gwen, thought about it, but didn't say it, so he had to walk to Gwen's side and sit down.
Gwen hugged her legs and buried her head in her arms. Yang Le didn't look up when he came over, and only leaned on Yang Le's body when Yang Le sat down, without speaking.
Yang Le is not a person who doesn't understand the situation. He put one hand around Gwen who was leaning on him. The golden long hair swept across his neck, a little itchy.
Maybe because she had been wearing a mask for a long time, plus the reason for the battle, a faint smell of sweat mixed with the smell of shampoo got into his nose, which was really a bit overwhelming.
Yang Le couldn't help but put his nose to Gwen's head and took a few sniffs. Gwen's body stiffened first, and then jumped up like a frightened cat, keeping a distance from Yang Le.
"What are you doing, Harby!" Gwen, with a flushed face, covered her head with her right hand and looked at Yang Le in shock, her tone full of disbelief.
"Sorry." Yang Le looked at Gwen awkwardly. He didn't know how to explain, he couldn't say that your smell is so good that it makes people overwhelmed, right?
The two were speechless, and stared at each other for a long time. In the end, Gwen took the lead in breaking the awkward atmosphere.
"I'm not in the mood to mess around, Harby." Gwen sighed and said dejectedly.
Gwen's mood is very complicated now. Being messed with by Yang Le, her low mood did not disappear, and another emotion came in. Now the two emotions are mixed, making her heart feel like a cat is scratching it.
"Sorry." Yang Le apologized again. "Actually, I wanted to say something else just now, but suddenly I don't know how…"
"OK, OK, let's forget about that scene just now." Gwen reached out and stopped Yang Le from continuing. "Let's talk about what you wanted to say before."
"Cough cough, I actually wanted to say that you don't have to be so impatient, Gwen." Yang Le coughed and tried not to think about what happened just now.
"Now that we have guessed the mastermind, we just need to wait for him to show his feet."
"Are you sure?" Gwen looked at Yang Le suspiciously.
"I'm very sure." Yang Le nodded affirmatively. "According to my understanding of Kingpin, we don't need to look for him specifically. He is a master who can't stand loneliness, and he will come over to deliver himself."
In fact, this sentence also applies to all super villains.
"Believe me, Gwen, have I ever lied to you?" Yang Le stood up and walked towards Gwen, wanting to get closer to speak.
Seeing Yang Le coming over, Gwen covered her head and subconsciously took a step back, but this step made Yang Le freeze in place.
"Uh, sorry, spider sense is wrong." Gwen explained awkwardly.
