#397 - Troy and Diana
Yang Le raised his right hand again, preparing to swing his fist one more time to break the metal plate under his feet, but Wonder Woman stopped him.
"You're making too much noise." Diana drew her sword. "Let me do it."
Yang Le shrugged and honestly gave up his spot. Facing the God-killing Sword that could cut subatomic particles, his fist was indeed a bit lacking. It was better to obediently step back at this moment.
Just as Diana was about to extend her sword above the metal plate to cut it, they heard a roar. Both of them looked up, but because they were in a low position, even with their extraordinary vision, they couldn't see anything.
However, the source of the noise didn't keep them waiting for long. In less than a minute, they saw a circle of soldiers in unknown military uniforms appearing above the pit Yang Le had created.
"They're soldiers from Bialya," Diana explained to Yang Le beside her. "It seems the commotion you made was too big and attracted them."
"My bad," Yang Le honestly admitted his mistake. He had acted impulsively without thinking of the consequences. Diana had already told him that there was a military base nearby, yet he still made such a big commotion.
"So, what now? Negotiate or force our way through?"
"Of course, we negotiate. There's no reason for these mortals to bear the brunt of my conflict with Circe," Diana sheathed her sword and called out to the surrounding soldiers.
"Soldiers of Bialya, I apologize for our uninvited presence and the damage we've caused to your country. However, there's a reason for all of this. I am Diana, Princess of the Amazons, Wonder Woman. I'm searching for my mother's killer and have received information that she's beneath this ground. Please do not obstruct me."
"Honorable Wonder Woman," an officer-like figure, dressed differently from the ordinary soldiers, stepped forward and said to Wonder Woman.
"We are saddened by your unfortunate encounter, but Your Excellency is currently standing on Bialya's military construction, which is a national secret. No one can enter without the President's permission. Therefore, we can only refuse your request."
"I am merely informing you, not seeking your consent," Wonder Woman drew her sword once more. "If I don't find my enemy beneath, I will apologize for this. But if I find my enemy within Bialya's military construction, then I hope Bialya can give me a reasonable explanation."
To reiterate, Diana is a warrior before she is a superhero, and a warrior raised by the Amazons. Diana, who grew up in that environment, is already being very polite by informing the Bialyan soldiers, who may be harboring her mother's killer, of the situation.
Yang Le felt that it wouldn't be surprising if Diana completely ignored these ordinary people. In the infinite DC universe, most Wonder Women have rather impatient personalities, such as the Diana from the 'Injustice' universe or the 'Flashpoint' universe, who are prime examples of impatience. Killing people at the slightest disagreement is not impossible.
The Diana in front of Yang Le can really be considered one of the few.
"Since Your Excellency insists, then we can only retaliate." As soon as the officer finished speaking, the soldiers surrounding the pit aimed their weapons at the two of them. They were mostly ordinary firearms, which was in line with Bialya's impoverished status.
Seeing this, Yang Le decided to transform into Pooba, preparing to use sleeping gas to knock these soldiers unconscious. After all, they were just innocent bystanders who were protecting the country of Bialya. There was no need to harm their bodies with lightning.
However, before Yang Le could transform, he and Wonder Woman felt movement beneath their feet. Seeing this, they didn't hesitate and flew out of the pit.
Just as their feet left the ground, a large hole suddenly broke open in the metal plate under Wonder Woman's feet, and a black shadow shot out from it, heading straight for Diana in mid-air.
Yang Le took a closer look and discovered that it was Troy, who had left with Circe. However, Troy's appearance had changed drastically. She was no longer wearing a thin robe; a set of armor enveloped her graceful figure.
Not only that, but Troy was also holding a sword in her right hand and a round shield in her left hand. Combined with her resemblance to Diana, she looked like another Wonder Woman.
Diana also clearly saw Troy, who was attacking her. Facing this girl made of her mother's remains, she was momentarily dazed until the sword was almost about to stab her. Diana then reacted and used the shield in her hand to block it.
This was Diana's first time fighting Troy. Her left hand, holding the shield, trembled slightly. Diana was a little surprised by the girl's strength, which numbed her hastily defending left hand. Only people like Superman could do such a thing.
Steadying her mind, Diana placed her right hand on her left hand. To create distance, she used both hands to send Troy flying out.
Facing the oncoming force, Troy didn't choose to meet it head-on. Following the force, she retreated and landed on the ground with a flip in the air. Even the sandy ground couldn't affect her balance.
Taking advantage of this time, Diana had also landed. They had only exchanged one blow and had flown hundreds of meters away, far away from the encirclement of Bialyan soldiers.
Yang Le landed beside Diana. He didn't know if he should help at this time. The relationship between these two was too complicated. It was better to find the witch Circe; fighting her would be less stressful.
Without Yang Le needing to search, the witch Circe walked out of a purple portal, standing beside Troy, just like Yang Le, and looking at Yang Le and Diana with a smile.
"Circe!" Enemies are extremely jealous when they meet. When Diana saw her mother's killer appear, she raised her sword to behead her, to comfort her mother's spirit in heaven.
Unfortunately, the person blocking her was her mother. Troy flashed and stood in front of Circe, blocking Diana's path of charging. Helplessly, Diana had to stop.
"Get out of the way," Diana said loudly to Troy. She felt a kind of helplessness where she had strength but nowhere to use it. If she could, she really didn't want to hurt Troy.
Diana still had a glimmer of hope in her heart. After all, who knew if the girl could still transform back into her mother? What if she injured the girl and she couldn't transform back?
"If you want to hurt my mother, then step over my corpse," Troy raised her sword, looking warily at Diana.
