#491 - Robert vs. Thunder Agents (2)
The giant struggled to get up from the ground. The first thing he saw was the mech piloted by Josiah, the one who had beaten him so badly.
The giant was as simple as a wild beast. Faced with his enemy, he only had two choices: run or attack.
The irascible giant obviously chose the second option. With a roar, he hurled a nearby car at Josiah, who was in the process of reloading his ammunition.
The blue sedan hurtled straight toward Josiah. Just as the car was flying through the air, a faster, darker shadow passed over Josiah's head and struck the car mid-flight.
"Boom!"
A deafening sound erupted as the car exploded into countless fragments in the air. These tiny metallic shards rained down on Josiah's mech, causing no more than a tickle; they couldn't even scratch the surface coating.
"Whoosh!"
Another sharp sound pierced the air. The same dark shadow that had destroyed the car once again flew over Josiah's head, this time striking the giant himself as he charged toward Josiah.
The shadow hit the center of the giant's chest. The explosion occurred immediately upon impact. The wind generated by the giant's charge quickly dispersed the smoke and dust from the explosion, allowing everyone to see the giant's current state.
The area struck by the shadow had not only been blasted away, leaving a gaping hole, but the remaining flesh was also charred black. Almost all of the giant's upper body organs were destroyed.
"Sweet baby!" Thompson licked his dry lips. Like Josiah's mech, all the equipment of the entire Thunderbolt Task Force was designed and manufactured by Howard Stark himself.
Like the sniper rifle in his hands—or rather, it should be called a sniper cannon. A normal sniper rifle fires bullets, but this STK-1610 fires grenades, so calling it a grenade launcher wouldn't be an exaggeration.
Even ordinary tanks and armored vehicles were like paper in front of it; one shot, one kill was not just a joke.
This was Thompson's first time using this thing. After all, it was too dangerous. Howard had said one thing when he handed it over.
"The only things that can directly withstand this are probably Hyperion and Magneto."
The STK-1610 certainly lived up to such high praise. That's why even General Ross wouldn't let the Thunderbolt Task Force use this thing lightly. If it weren't for dealing with the giant, this thing might have been locked in a box forever, untouched until Thompson retired.
The power of the STK-1610 was indeed astonishing, but the result after use left the previously smug Thompson dumbfounded, because the giant, who had taken a direct hit, was still running.
"Good God!" Thompson couldn't help but exclaim. "That wound could fit a cow! And it still can't stop him!?"
"Stop gawking, rookie!" John's scolding came through the earpiece. By the time Thompson came to his senses, the giant was about to reach Josiah.
"Whoosh!"
Another roar, just like before, except this time the bullet came from the giant's side. This sharply angled grenade pierced the giant's knee, and with the grenade's explosion, the giant's legs instantly turned into mincemeat.
"Glad I made it in time." John breathed a sigh of relief. He had been repositioning himself the whole time, just to find a suitable sniping spot. He didn't expect that as soon as he settled in, he would have to clean up Thompson's mess.
Thankfully, he was a super soldier. An ordinary person wouldn't have such speed and stamina.
John calmed his heartbeat and was about to reprimand Thompson again, but the scene that followed almost made him choke.
The injuries caused by John and Thompson didn't change the giant's expression in the slightest. His upper body still maintained its running posture, as if the person who had lost his legs and chest wasn't him.
In the next instant, a pair of intact legs actually grew out of the giant's severed stumps, and the chest wound healed along with them, as if nothing had happened.
"Damn it!" John cursed, once again pulling the trigger and firing another grenade, this time aiming for the giant's head.
However, the giant didn't even look at the incoming grenade. He simply waved his hand in mid-stride, and a gust of wind buffeted the grenade as it left the barrel, disrupting its momentum!
"WTF?!" John's eyes almost popped out of their sockets. This was an anti-superhuman sniper rifle, and it was dispersed with a wave of the hand? Was he really not dreaming?
Although the sniper rifle didn't accomplish anything further, John and Thompson did achieve their goal. Josiah had now reloaded his ammunition, and he aimed his guns at the giant with a sneer.
"Eat lead!"
This time it wasn't just the machine guns on the shoulders. To stop the approaching giant, Josiah opened up all the weapons mounted on his mech. Missiles, bullets, and energy beams fired all at once, vowing to obliterate the giant beast before him.
A green light flashed in the giant's eyes. The giant, who had just raised his right leg, suddenly stomped down, stopping in front of the incoming barrage. He raised both hands and stretched them back as far as he could, like a bow being fully drawn.
"Boom!"
The giant clapped his hands together in front of his chest, and a terrifying storm swept forward. Starting from the giant's right foot, the earth was overturned, vehicles were torn apart, and tall buildings fell like building blocks scattered haphazardly.

Then, peace and quiet.
Standing behind the giant, observing the overall situation, Anthony, who was already taciturn, couldn't say a word. After a long time, he finally uttered,
"Good God…"
Behind the giant was the same New York neighborhood as before. Although it was in a mess, it was still recognizable. But in front of the giant…
A large chunk of the earth had been gouged out, and all the buildings in one block had collapsed, looking like Atlantis on the water. Even a nuclear bomb wouldn't have caused this much damage.
"Huff!" Two white plumes of air shot out of the giant's nostrils. In front of him, let alone Josiah, there wasn't even a single intact thing to be found. The enemy had been eliminated.
Hidden in a tall building, Bridge was covered in sweat. He was incredibly grateful for his previous decision. If he had continued to stand stupidly on the roof of the previous building to watch the battle, he might have already been turned to dust.
He didn't think he was tougher than the Stark Industries-made alloy mech. He glanced at the life support device on his wrist. This thing could not only show his own life status but also be used to observe the life status of his teammates, to see if they were dead or alive.
At this moment, the green lights representing Josiah, John, and Thompson had already gone out, and their meaning was self-evident. He had already lost three team members, and now only he and Anthony were still alive.
He had to find a way to evacuate.
