#500 - Robert's Multiple Personalities

"Based on the fact that his cancer wasn't cured, I speculate that Robert likely developed a second personality due to the immense mental stress from taking a huge risk in participating in human experiments without getting the desired results, coupled with the physical torment of the disease."

"Are you saying you suspect Robert has multiple personalities?" General Ross slowly rubbed his temples. He was, after all, an old man over fifty, and receiving so much information at once was giving him a headache.

"Yes," Bruce nodded. "Because I didn't want to agitate Robert, I stopped experimenting on him after he was injected with the super serum. I've just been recording his various states. This is my judgment after observation."

"Stopped experimenting," General Ross frowned. "So, you don't know Robert's physical condition after the serum injection?"

Bruce shook his head: "No, there are regular blood draws and physical examinations, otherwise I wouldn't know that the serum didn't work on Robert and his cancer condition."

"But as it stands, the serum seems to be working," General Ross raised his hand, and Glenn immediately handed him a tablet from his backpack.

General Ross took the tablet, operated it for a while, and then handed it to Bruce. Bruce took it and found it was a video. Without Ross saying anything, he took the initiative to open the video and watch it.

The video showed the giant riot that General Ross and they had mentioned before. Bruce's eyes widened, and he kept muttering.

"This is impossible... This is unscientific... How could such a change occur?"

"But it happened." General Ross took out a cigarette from his pocket and was about to take one out, but a hand snatched the cigarette away. Ross felt helpless. He didn't need to look to know who had taken his cigarette. There was only one person in this world who dared to do this.

"Betty," General Ross sighed helplessly.

"This is a hospital room, Dad," Betty raised her head and crumpled the cigarette in her hand into a ball, then threw it into the trash can next to her.

Faced with his precious daughter, General Ross could only forbear. When he once again turned his gaze back to Bruce, the latter had finished reading all the information.

"This is indeed beyond my expectations, General Ross," Bruce lowered his head. The tablet now showed a picture, which was the scene of Robert's chest being pierced and turning into a giant again, taken by the Thunderbolts team.

"It seems the super serum is completely beyond my expectations," Bruce zoomed in on the picture. Robert in the picture was in a half-human, half-giant state. His body looked like a rubber toy injected with water, deformed and morbid.

"It seems to have some kind of intelligence," Bruce said uncertainly. This was the first time he had spoken in such a tone.

"Intelligence? Are you talking about the serum?" Ross's eyes widened. If the person who said this wasn't Bruce Banner, he might have punched him already, stopping the liar from talking nonsense.

"That's right," Bruce's eyes were locked on Robert, as if he wanted to see something.

"Since the serum turned him into what he is now, then the person in Robert's dream might not be his second personality. Perhaps the serum took effect as soon as he was injected. It was just hiding itself, but why?"

"This is absurd," Glenn interjected. "How can a drug have its own consciousness? We're not in a fairy tale."

"Really, Glenn?" General Ross held a different view of Bruce's speculation. "There is magic in this world, and aliens exist."

Glenn was speechless, not only because of General Ross's status, but also because everything Ross said was true.

"I need those giants," Bruce looked at General Ross. "I want to figure out what's causing all this."

"No!" Before Ross could speak, Betty next to him denied Bruce's proposal.

"Your injury hasn't healed yet. You can't even get out of bed right now!"

"Then please ask the general to find someone to carry me over," Bruce's attitude was very firm. "I can't lie in bed and do nothing."

"Well said," General Ross gestured to Glenn behind him, who immediately understood and walked out of the tent.

"I didn't misjudge you, kid. If you choose to sleep in bed like a coward, I will definitely not entrust Betty to you."

"What is all this about?" Betty was amused by the two men in front of her. She simply turned her head and ignored the two men in front of her.

But it must be said that Bruce looked really handsome just now.

...

The army's efficiency was very fast, especially since this was an order personally issued by General Ross. Soon, a team of strong soldiers came and, under the direction of the doctor, carried Bruce onto a transport aircraft. Their destination was the place where the giants were stored.

After about a day of tug-of-war, with the efforts of many superheroes, the military, and the police, some giants were initially defeated, but as Yang Le judged, these giants may be growing over time, or perhaps with the number of battles. In short, they were indeed constantly growing.

Some giants who were initially defeated would wake up after a period of silence and become stronger than before, reaching a point where ordinary humans could not compete with them.

Later on, even ordinary superhumans could not fight them. The superheroes still fighting on the front lines were only the Supreme Squadron led by Hyperion and a few members of Luke Cage's Heroes for Hire company. The rest were Howard Stark's battle suits controlled by artificial intelligence.

As for Howard himself, he is now discussing with Ross's team how to target the giants' self-healing ability and their constantly evolving ability.

And this is where Bruce came. When he saw Howard, the latter's eyes were already bloodshot, and the expressions of the other scientists were not very good either.

"Good to see you, Bruce," Howard greeted Bruce, who was being helped in. At first, he wanted to shake hands, but seeing the other party's appearance, he could only give up.

"Is your injury really okay?"

"Don't worry, Mr. Stark," Bruce took the crutches from the soldier next to him. "I know my body best. Even if I fall, it will be after I find a solution."

"Now we should focus our attention on the matter at hand."

Bruce leaned on his crutches and walked step by step towards a huge platform, on which was placed a large piece of flesh wrapped in bright yellow colloid, which was one of the giants sealed by Yang Le.
