#57 - Yang Le is the one being targeted?
Cindy's words were unpleasant, but they were the truth. His policy misstep had caused some turmoil within Oscorp.
It was at this moment that Cindy approached Norman. After witnessing Cindy's talent, Norman immediately seized this lifeline.
Cindy provided Norman with some research results, allowing him to stabilize the company, and Norman, in turn, assisted Cindy in completing the irradiated spider project.
Initially, the two did experience a honeymoon period, but this relationship had recently approached a freezing point.
"How long will it take you to complete that serum?" Norman asked, trying to calm himself.
"I don't know. Quickly, a month or two. Slowly, three or four years. Who can say for sure?" Cindy remained as nonchalant as ever, completely disregarding Norman's demands.
"Cindy Moon!" Norman slammed the table in front of him heavily, glaring at Cindy with resentment.
"You really should see yourself right now, you look like a goblin," Cindy first mocked Norman's unsightly appearance, then said coldly.
"If some sticky-fingered goblin hadn't stolen my results, you might have already gotten your serum."
"You need to give me something to shut up the board of directors," Norman knew Cindy was referring to him, but he felt no shame.
"The group of mediocrities you have in this company can only produce garbage. They can't reassure the shareholders at all."
Cindy had seen enough of this businessman's shameless face. She wouldn't give Norman the finished serum; she would dangle it in front of him like a carrot on a stick.
But she still needed to give him some occasional sweeteners, as she did need his funding at the moment.
Cindy said, "The serum underwent a test a few days ago. Trust me, you need to wait a little longer, unless you want to open a reptile house."
Norman clenched his fists upon hearing Cindy's words, but ultimately released them. He said viciously.
"I'm giving you three more months. This is the final ultimatum."
After speaking, he swiped his card and left the lab without giving Cindy a chance to bargain.
Cindy didn't look at Norman as he left, not caring about the deadline he had set for her in his anger.
Cindy went to the computer and manipulated it for a few moments. Several photos immediately filled the screen. The subjects in the photos were men and women, many and few, but the focus of the photos was undoubtedly on one person—Gwen Stacy.
"Lucky little girl," Cindy murmured, looking at the youthful and beautiful Gwen.
"School, band, just like a teen comedy, best friends, friends, such an enviable life."
Cindy manipulated the mouse, flipping through the photos one by one. There were photos of Gwen going to school, shopping, eating, participating in band practice, and even Gwen wearing her suit, swinging between buildings.
Finally, the photos stopped at a group photo of three people. It was Gwen, Yang Le, and Peter eating together at an outdoor restaurant.
In the photo, Peter was holding a comic book, pointing to a page for Yang Le to see. Yang Le was touching his chin, squinting and carefully looking at where Peter was pointing, while Gwen was holding a glass of cola, sucking on the straw, her expression helpless, but her eyes full of affection as she looked at the two.
"That trial was originally prepared for you," Cindy moved the cursor from Peter's head to Gwen's face.
"Too bad, I originally wanted to see your abilities, but I didn't expect to be disrupted by someone else."
The cursor then moved to Yang Le's face.
"What a peculiar ability. First, a rapidly crawling reptile, then an incredible crystalline life form. I really want to know what you are, where your limits are, and…"
"Obtain your ability."
Cindy closed the computer, thinking about whether she should change her cooperation partner.
---Line Break---
"Are you sure you want to give Peter this?"
Harry Osborn frowned as he looked at what Yang Le was holding.
"What's wrong?" Yang Le looked down to check.
"The latest issue of Super Hero Magazine, what's wrong with it?"
"Yeah? What's wrong with it?" Gwen also asked from the side.
"Uh." Yang Le and Gwen's questions made Harry feel unsure of himself. He opened his mouth hesitantly.
"Shouldn't you bring some fruit or flowers when visiting someone in the hospital?"
After speaking, he gestured to the fruit basket he was holding. They had now arrived at the hospital where Peter was staying, ready to visit the concussion-suffering Peter.
"Normally, yes." Gwen nodded. "But Peter is different. He must be incredibly bored. Aunt May won't let him have his game console because of the concussion, and she won't even let him play the Sudoku game in the newspaper."
"That's a bit cruel indeed." Harry put himself in Peter's shoes and shuddered.
The latest novel is first published on Liù 9 Shū Bā!
Not even being allowed to play Sudoku games, it's even more painful than being a prisoner.
"Aren't we waiting for Mary Jane?" Harry asked, looking at Peter's hospital room in front of him.
Gwen gave him a look, signaling Harry to understand on his own, and then pushed open the door and walked in first. Yang Le followed closely behind, and Harry, seeing this, followed with a puzzled expression.
As soon as they entered, they saw the eye-catching red hair. Mary Jane was sitting in front of Peter's hospital bed, and the corners of both of their mouths were raised, obviously enjoying their conversation before they came in.
"Hi, Peter! We've come to see you." Gwen greeted him, while taking the bag that Yang Le was holding and handing it to Peter.
"Here, the latest issue of Super Hero Magazine, you can read it when you're bored."
Faced with his favorite magazine, Peter's expression wasn't as happy as Gwen had imagined, but instead looked a little awkward.
Gwen asked curiously, "What's wrong, Peter? I thought you liked this magazine the most? Did I remember wrong?"
"I do like it the most, but…" Peter picked up a bag from the bedside table and took out a magazine that was exactly the same as the one Gwen handed him, which was the latest issue of Super Hero Magazine.
"But Mary Jane already brought it to me."
"Oh, that's really…" Gwen looked helplessly at Mary Jane sitting next to her, and found that she was also looking at her awkwardly.
"Uh, a little awkward."
"No way, everyone knows Peter's hobbies, so someone with good intentions beat us to it." Yang Le shrugged helplessly.
Harry, on the other hand, smiled, raising the fruit basket in his hand like a victor.
"Ha! I knew the traditional way was always the most effective, so does anyone want some fresh fruit?"
"Give me some, fruit-selling boy." Yang Le raised his hand.
"I'll peel an apple for Peter, so it won't be like I came empty-handed."
