#623 - Rock Python
"Is that a butt you're carrying on your shoulders?"
The arrogant way of speaking made everyone present know who said this without looking in the direction of the voice. There was only one person in this shelter who would speak like that.
"Kuertel!" Zebediah's timidity disappeared for a moment. "What do you mean by that?"
"Literal meaning." Quentin put his hands in his pockets, looking nonchalant with his big toad glasses.
"Are you really a social person who has been working in society for a long time? How can you not understand such a simple thing? Even a 14-year-old child like me can understand."
As Quentin spoke, he jumped onto a table and sat down unhurriedly in front of everyone.
"The Viper Gang has already released news that they will attack us this evening. Why do you think they released the news?"
Without looking at Quentin's eyes, one could tell that he had no respect for Zebediah, which made the elder lose face. Tandy even saw his face turn purplish-brown, obviously angered from its original purple hue.
"You don't think the Viper Gang are a bunch of idiots, do you? Deliberately releasing the news so we can escape? Don't be silly, eggplant man, they're doing this for two reasons."
As soon as Quentin finished speaking, he held up two fingers, and then continued.
"First, they're using the long waiting time to wear down our fighting will. No soldier doesn't feel nervous when a large army is approaching the city, let alone ordinary people like us."
"Second, they're using the pressure to make us fight among ourselves. After all, for most people, it's better to bully the weak behind closed doors than to wield a knife against the strong. Even in a barracks, a mutiny can occur under high tension."
After speaking, Quentin extended his right hand into the shape of a gun and aimed it at Zebediah, whose face had darkened even more.
"You've managed to embody both of these things, so it's hard for me not to suspect that there's something wrong with your brain. In my opinion, you're either extremely stupid or extremely evil. Anyway, neither is good. If I were you..."
Quentin pointed his right hand, shaped like a gun, at his temple and softly uttered a word.
"Bang!"
The meaning was self-evident. Zebediah lost all face, and his face had turned as black as the bottom of a pot. The surrounding crowd, which had been noisy, also quieted down. Quentin jumped off the table and turned to leave.
"I estimate that the Viper Gang has already set up a siege and surrounded us. Going out now, I can't think of any other outcome except death. Oh, right, superhumans might be able to survive."
Quentin stopped, turned his head, and, with a mocking expression behind his toad glasses, said.
"Unfortunately, none of us are."
After speaking, he ignored Tandy, who wanted to stop him, and walked towards the depths of the subway station, not knowing what he was going to do.
Even if a battle might happen next, no one would stop him, because Quentin was too young, only 14 years old. No one would ask him to go to the battlefield, and no one would say anything even if he hid.
Oh, except for Zebediah, who had just lost face.
Tandy shook her head helplessly as she watched Quentin's back. She then shifted her gaze to the quiet crowd and gently said.
"Let's discuss what to do next."
This time, no one interrupted her.
...
Tandy and Tyler stood at the entrance of the subway station, looking at the distant convoy. It was obvious that it was the Viper Gang's convoy. The two of them were on high alert, preparing to deal with what was about to happen.
Six cars stopped less than a hundred meters away from them. It was really not easy to find so many intact cars in New York these days.
As soon as the car stopped, the doors were opened, and several people dressed in colorful and bizarre clothes got out of the car. They were all carrying various weapons, but they were all melee weapons.
Baseball bats and water pipes, and even a few holding golf clubs looked like lunatics. Tyler's pupils shrank as he also noticed a few people carrying guns on their bodies.
"Bang!"
The muffled sound of the door closing attracted Tyrone and Tandy's attention. A black man of unusually tall stature walked out of a Jeep. He was at least two meters tall, and Tandy couldn't help but wonder how this person could squeeze into such a small car.
The man's clothes were tightly stretched on his body, outlining the muscles that looked like they had been carved out with knives and axes. Whether it was decoration or weapons, the man's arms and waist were wrapped with thick iron chains, each chain as thick as two adult fingers.
Even if they were wrapped around the fist and used as a knuckleduster, it would be a terrifying weapon, let alone swung as a whip.
"Which of you is in charge!" the man asked in a deep voice, his voice sounding as muffled as a leather drum.
"We both are!" Tyrone responded to the strong man's question before Tandy, taking some of the pressure off her.
"Alright." The man nodded. "I am Rock Python from the Viper Gang. I won't say much. Your people stole the Viper Gang's supplies. This is a provocation to the Viper Gang."
"We know." Tandy swallowed. "So we want to discuss a compensation plan with the Viper Gang. We will try our best to meet your requirements."
"Are there any superhumans in your shelter?" Rock Python asked.
"Just the two of us, the rest are ordinary people." Tandy hurriedly replied, hoping that their superhuman status could be used as a bargaining chip to help them get a better outcome.
"Alright, then come with me." Rock Python seemed to have lost the desire to continue asking and couldn't wait to end the negotiation.
"We go with you? What about the others?" Tandy asked.
"Of course, they will be killed." Rock Python said calmly, uttering words that made Tandy's blood run cold.
"We don't have any surplus food either. These useless dependents can only be killed. Keeping them will only rob the few supplies we have. Of course, we will kill them when we meet them."
"They are all human lives!" Tandy's eyes turned red.
"Just ordinary people." Rock Python said mercilessly. "Why care about the lives of those ordinary people? We are all superhumans, higher-level beings, and we are no longer the same kind of beings as ordinary humans."
"I advise you to change your thinking as soon as possible, or do you want to be a hero and save those ordinary people?"
As Rock Python said this, his minions had already raised the weapons in their hands, looking like they were entering a battle state, just waiting for their boss to give an order to attack.
"If that's the case, I can only teach you a lesson first, so that you can give up that ridiculous heroic dream as soon as possible."
