#682 - The sequel to the evil fate
Thor was brave and fearless on the battlefield. Whether it was frost giants, various magical beasts, or dark elves, no enemy could instill fear in him.
However, when he returned triumphantly from a great victory, facing Loki's declaration of love, Thor was frightened as if he had aged back several hundred years, just like the first time Loki pranked him.
That day, Asgard did not welcome its victorious prince, but his chariot returned as promised, though it carried Loki instead of Thor.
Yes, Thor was so scared that he abandoned his chariot and flew away with his hammer. Loki, unable to fly as fast as his brother, had no choice but to drive the abandoned chariot back to the palace.
The Asgardians were puzzled. Why was it Loki, the little princess who had been quiet for centuries and hadn't caused trouble, sitting on the chariot instead of the valiant Thor?
Perhaps Loki had pranked him on the way back. But that didn't seem right. Thor was returning with great merit. In war-loving Asgard, those who returned to the city with such honors were to be treated with respect.
Moreover, Thor was not only a prince but also the designated heir. The entire city of Asgard was preparing to welcome this future great ruler.
But now, Loki had done such a thing, which, in the eyes of the Asgardians, was extremely politically incorrect. If it were anyone else, they would have been scorned by everyone and might even have been challenged to duels.
However, Loki was royalty after all, so ordinary commoners couldn't intervene. But even though they couldn't inflict physical harm, the Asgardians still booed Loki.
From the city gate to the palace, everyone booed Loki along the way. The uproar would have frightened an ordinary girl to tears, but Loki completely ignored it.
After a long period of loneliness, Loki had long determined who she cared about most. No matter what these outsiders did, they couldn't hurt her. Mere noise could be silenced with a simple mute spell.
The main event was yet to come. Back at the palace, the anger from her father, Odin, did make Loki slightly, just slightly, afraid, even though her mother wasn't there to protect her. (Referring to being teary-eyed while being held in Frigga's arms.)
But what Loki had done this time was indeed a bit too much. Even Frigga couldn't help but have some reservations, to the point that they both wondered if Loki disliked Thor. So, the old couple played good cop and bad cop, confusing the frightened Loki.
Thus, under the mixed double-team of the older generation, the young Loki confessed everything. Now it was the old couple's turn to be stunned.
Odin was happy. He had originally taken Loki in to foster eternal friendship between Asgard and Jotunheim. He had been thinking of using family ties to create a bond, but now an even better method had appeared.
What was originally a complicated matter had suddenly turned into an auto-chess game? Was there really such a good thing?
Compared to the carefree Odin, Frigga thought more deeply. She knew that Thor and Loki weren't really siblings, but Loki and Thor, these younger ones, didn't know. Otherwise, Thor wouldn't have been so scared as to abandon his armor.
Frigga was very afraid that some problems would arise in Loki's heart, so she wanted to provide psychological counseling for Loki. But Odin stopped her, after all, this matter was good for the entire Nine Realms.
Odin also expressed understanding of Frigga's concerns. Moreover, according to what Loki said, Thor would not accept such a relationship. So, Odin promised that he would announce their identities when the time was right.
Frigga was skeptical of her husband's promise, but she didn't say much, only hoping that day would come soon.
Then, several hundred years passed. Thor finally mustered the courage to go home, but he was intercepted by Loki again halfway, and just like last time, Thor ran away again.
For the next one or two thousand years, such things kept repeating. This led to Odin never having the chance to have them both present at the same time. He couldn't get Loki to be stable; she simply wouldn't listen, and every time she took the initiative, she would suffer a crushing defeat.
After a while, Odin got annoyed and then he washed his hands of it. It's hard to persuade someone who's determined to die. Your father wants to help you pursue happiness, but you always pull this stunt. I think you've reached your rebellious phase.
Odin decided to let things take their course. Anyway, the Asgardians have long lifespans. He believed that time would eventually give him a chance to announce the truth. Surely these two kids wouldn't drag him to his death, right?
Isn't now a good opportunity? Because of the search for Yang Le, Thor and Loki are both in the palace due to various coincidences. Next, as long as Yang Le and Gwen, these two guests, are not present, Odin can announce this royal secret history.
He was thinking a lot, but Odin and his wife remained expressionless, still warmly entertaining Yang Le and Gwen as guests. With outsiders present, Loki also restrained himself a lot, not doing anything that could scare Thor.
And with Loki not making any moves, Thor gradually let down his guard and started drinking with Yang Le. Of course, because he knew in advance that Yang Le didn't like strong alcohol, Yang Le's cup was filled with low-alcohol fruit wine, which was considered an Asgardian children's drink.
For a time, the atmosphere at the table was quite lively, but it was estimated that the only ones who were truly wholeheartedly focused on the meal were the guests, Yang Le and Gwen.
Both Yang Le and Gwen were very satisfied with this meal. The Asgardian dishes were not particularly exquisite. Like the Asgardian spirit, they were all about being hearty, with each serving being large.
After all, the Asgardians were martial. Don't be fooled by Frigga's gentle demeanor; she was also a ruthless character who could wield a giant sword like a city gate. Thanks to such a strong physique, the Asgardians could eat a lot.
These dishes, in order to meet the needs of their own people, naturally had to be large and filling. But that wasn't the key. The most important thing was that many of the ingredients cooked into these dishes were things that Yang Le and Gwen had never seen before.
The Norse mythology of the Marvel Universe was written according to the Asgardians, so those mythical creatures naturally existed in Asgard as well. Things like dragons and four-horned goats were all on the Asgardian menu.
Those ordinary residents who lived in Asgard, although they didn't usually go to the battlefield, were all brave and martial. In order to show off their martial skills without hurting the harmony between them, hunting was naturally a good choice.
And the hunted animals would naturally not be wasted, and all were brought to the Asgardian table.
