“Tap, tap, tap.”
The sound of brisk high heels echoed across the floor, followed by the whoosh of an electronic door opening. A S.H.I.E.L.D. agent turned to see a tall, stunning woman with waist-length, dark blue hair.
Her high heels were paired with black trousers, a white shirt underneath, and a yellow coat, a purely metropolitan look that made her stand out among the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents.
“You're here, Miss Lei Ling,” an agent greeted, to which she responded with a warm smile.
“I'm sorry, I seem to be a bit late today, even though I scheduled a combat training session with you all.” Lei Ling pressed her hands together, apologizing to the surrounding staff.
“It's alright, we all know you're busy with work,” the agent replied, used to it. “Ji Shuangshuang and the others are about to come out of Training Room 3; you can use this time to change your equipment.”
“Shuangshuang and them are using Training Room 3?” Lei Ling asked, surprised, then quickly added,
“It's fine, I'm not in a rush. I can wait until they're finished.”
Lei Ling was secretly pleased, thinking she could use the time to grab lunch. She'd rushed to make the training appointment and hadn't had time to eat. Shuangshuang and the others were so dedicated to training that they probably wouldn't be done by the time she finished eating.
Before Lei Ling could move, the agent spoke again.
“No need. Ji Shuangshuang and the others finished a few minutes ago. The reason you have to wait is because they can't get up.”
“Can't… get up?” Lei Ling was stunned again. Was it that harsh? What new training course was this? What kind of training could leave all three of them unable to stand? The effects must be amazing!
Lei Ling hurriedly said, “Could you please arrange the same training course for me as Shuangshuang and the others?”
If she didn't book this amazing training now, someone else might snatch it up. No, there were probably already many people ahead of her in line. Regardless, she should book it first.
“Well…” The agent wore a troubled expression. “The bureau hasn't launched any new training courses. The one who helped Ji Shuangshuang and the others train was a guest.”
“A guest?” Lei Ling's mind was full of question marks.
…
“Hiss~”
Lin Lie grimaced as he stood up. A Cheng, next to him, wasn't doing much better. Even Ji Shuangshuang and Yang Le, being girls, hadn't held back, let alone on the two of them.
However, the Nuwa Gauntlets did offer some defense, making them more effective than their two purely offensive weapons. Thus, Ji Shuangshuang was only slightly disheveled, not as miserable as the other two.
Even so, Ji Shuangshuang wasn't having an easy time. The shields she conjured with the Nuwa Gauntlets couldn't completely block Yang Le's attacks even once, usually shattering after half a second.
But having something was better than nothing. That half-second shield reduced the bruises on her body compared to Lin Lie and the others.
Yang Le looked at the three of them, smiling. “Not bad. You actually lasted five minutes. I'm impressed.”
Hearing this, the three of them rolled their eyes in unison. They were covered in bruises, while their opponent hadn't even broken a sweat. Even the nicest person wouldn't be happy hearing that right now.
The only change in Yang Le was that the zipper of his athletic top was slightly open due to the exertion. Otherwise, he was just as he had been before the sparring session, without even a speck of dust on him.
“Don't look so dejected.” Yang Le clapped his hands. “Smile. I'm serious; lasting five minutes against me is pretty good.”
“Easy for you to say,” Lin Lie said weakly. “But it's hard to feel good hearing that.”
“Click!”
The sound of the electronic door opening drew everyone's attention in the training room. Where their gazes met, they saw a beautiful metropolitan woman.
“Sister Ling?” Ji Shuangshuang called out the visitor's name in surprise.
“Long time no see, Shuangshuang.” Lei Ling winked playfully, her glasses adding a touch of indescribable sexiness.
“It's only been a week; that's not long,” A Cheng retorted, earning eye rolls from the two women.
“You wouldn't understand, A Cheng.” Lei Ling hugged Ji Shuangshuang as she approached, then looked at the girl with concern. She had never seen her this disheveled before.
But she wasn't one to be unclear on the situation; more tears in training meant less blood on the battlefield. All the effort now would become a secret weapon for survival in the future.
Lei Ling withdrew her gaze and began to scrutinize Yang Le, who had beaten Ji Shuangshuang and the others so badly. She had to admit that Yang Le, already somewhat handsome, had become even more strikingly attractive with the Kryptonian gene.
His tall, muscular physique and confident, sunny smile made him the dream lover of countless girls.

While Lei Ling was assessing Yang Le, the latter was also sizing up the former.
Lei Ling, or rather, the superhero Cyclone, like the Three Emperors Team, was also a product of the honeymoon period between Marvel and China.
In the setting, Cyclone is ostensibly Lei Ling, a beautiful architect. But secretly, she has a second job: the guardian of Shanghai, the superhero Cyclone.
Unlike the Three Emperors Team, who wielded artifacts, Cyclone possessed her own superpowers. She could sense, manipulate, and even generate air currents, which was a decent superpower with strong potential.
Unlike the Three Emperors Team, whose main opponent was Chi You, Cyclone mainly fought monsters called White Jade. However, Yang Le didn't know much about Cyclone; he had only learned about her while looking up Lin Lie's information.
But because her role wasn't as significant as Lin Lie's, it was unrealistic for Yang Le to see more of her appearances. After all, there was nothing you could do if the Marvel authors didn't draw you.
“Hello, Mr. Yang Le, is it?” Lei Ling walked up to Yang Le and extended her right hand.
“My name is Lei Ling. I just learned about your purpose from the other agents. Thank you very much for providing information and assistance to S.H.I.E.L.D.”
“It's all I should do.” Yang Le smiled in return. “After all, it's for saving the world. I'm even more grateful that S.H.I.E.L.D. is willing to listen to the advice of a stranger like me. That takes great courage.”
“That's because the information you provided was convincing enough,” Lei Ling said noncommittally. “By the way, about that spy, when will he arrive? Only with him can we petition for help from above.”
