#851 - Joker: That's really sad. (laughs)
Yang Le would not help Conner solve the problem of Superman's genes; he had to figure it out himself.
Subsequently, Yang Le, under the pretense of worrying about Courtney, asked Conner to go to the next room to check on her, instructing him not to reveal that he was there to see her, so as not to put unnecessary pressure on Courtney and force her to make choices against her will.
"Just say you finished your check-up, and I asked you to rest in the next room. It's a good opportunity for you to think about how to talk to Superman about that matter."
Conner nodded, glanced at Harby, and then turned to leave the infirmary. Now, only 'one' person was left in the room.
'How have you been lately?'
To be on the safe side, Yang Le was naturally communicating with himself through telepathy. Who knew if Batman had used eavesdropping devices when building the Justice Mountain's soundproof layer.
Of course, not speaking at all was impossible. Yang Le recited the words written on the handwritten notebook verbatim, but the lines spoken were just a cover, the real meaning was exchanged through telepathy.
'Skip the useless pleasantries,' Harby rolled his eyes. 'Don't you find it strange talking to yourself like that? Just get to the point.'
Yang Le shrugged. Pleasantries are a normal way for people to start a conversation. He wasn't being polite; he just didn't know how to start without those words.
Yang Le stopped dawdling and immediately exchanged information from the past few months with his other self, which meant telling him about the slightly more important events that had happened.
Actually, Harby didn't have much to say, since his main task was to accompany a young couple playing games, so Yang Le did most of the talking.
For example, why Troy was brought out of Paradise Island.
This matter was proposed by Diana. After a few months of buffer time, plus Yang Le's usual guidance, Diana finally let go of her prejudice against Troy and regarded her as a new Amazonian.
Diana no longer tried to find the shadow of her mother, Hippolyta, in Troy. After realizing how rude this was, she even apologized to Troy.
After that, Diana often ran to Paradise Island. It could be seen that she not only let go of her prejudice but also recognized Troy as a sister.
In this regard, Superman was ashamed of himself. He still had some prejudice against Conner, the clone, and Batman often used Diana's handling of the situation to mock him, causing the former to run away whenever he saw the latter for a while.
As for why Troy was brought out of Paradise Island, it was because Diana found that Troy was always a bit restrained when she was on Paradise Island, possibly because she had hurt everyone there before.
Thinking about it carefully, Paradise Island didn't hold happy memories for Troy. Counting her previous life, she had met her death there. For Troy, Paradise Island only held memories of battle.
Diana told Yang Le about this in the evening, and the latter naturally thought of the idle organization, the Young Justice League. If that youth organization could help Troy integrate, that would be the only place.
Harby suddenly understood after listening. No wonder the Young Justice League could revive you; it turned out you were whispering sweet nothings in her ear.
Yang Le was not ashamed but proud. Being able to whisper sweet nothings was also a skill.
The two chatted for a while, and suddenly heard the sound of the automatic door opening. They immediately cut off their telepathic connection and looked towards the door. Courtney was standing timidly at the door.
"What's wrong, Courtney?" Yang Le smiled kindly. "Is something the matter?"
"I think I've made a decision, sir," Courtney said, clutching the hem of her clothes. She looked very nervous, but her eyes were firm.
Yang Le closed the useless notebook and put on a listening look, indicating that Courtney could speak.
"Since this change is benign, then let's leave it like this for now," Courtney bit her lip. "The previous mission made me realize my shortcomings. If I were stronger, wouldn't my teammates not have been injured?"
At this point, Courtney secretly glanced at Harby before continuing.
"That last mission… I've been thinking about it these past few days. What would have happened if I hadn't succeeded? Honestly, it was so terrifying that I still have nightmares about it."
"Courtney," Harby interrupted the girl. "I need to remind you of something. We are a team, and the purpose of a team is to complement each other's shortcomings. You don't need to blame yourself for something that didn't happen. That's wrong."
Speaking in a rigid, robotic way was a characteristic of the mutant Harby. In the past, Courtney hated this kind of rigid preaching, but now it only made her feel at ease.
"It's not entirely because of that," Courtney scratched her cheek and finally said in a self-deprecating tone.
"Anyway, I've made a decision. Let's leave it like this for now."
Seeing this, Harby didn't say anything more. He still had to play his role properly. Yang Le also nodded and pretended to write a few strokes in his notebook before saying.
"Okay, I understand. Oh, right! I have something else to tell you, Courtney. Actually, even if you were turned into some kind of monster by cosmic energy, I could turn you back."

…
Dark and damp, this is the first impression that Gotham City gives to most people. It's as if there are no sunny days here, always in darkness or in rainy weather.
People often joke that perhaps it is because of this that Gotham City so easily breeds evil.
Even with Batman's efforts, the crime rate here has dropped a lot, but Gotham is still a notorious city of sin. It's just that everyone has become a little more law-abiding.
Many criminals say that Gotham is a city full of ancient gangs, and almost everyone you can name has some connection to the underworld.
Of course, with so many gangs, there will naturally be a leader who can convince everyone. Gotham's leader is Batman. Almost everyone lives under the rules he sets.
The Joker scoffed at this statement. He felt that Gotham was just a giant playground, and Batman, this psychopath, was just having fun in this playground. Maybe one day he would get bored and demolish the 'playground' and rebuild it.
So, in order not to bore Batman, he was always coming up with new ways to play, all for the sake of protecting Gotham City.
Therefore, he should be called Gotham's Dark Knight. He has been working hard for the existence of this city, but no one recognizes him.
How sad. (Laugh)
