#866 - Bain feels that everything is under control
Bane was much smaller than Robin remembered. If it weren't for the iconic mask and fierce aura, Robin might not have recognized him.
After observing for a while, Robin realized why Bane was so weak: he wasn't injecting Venom. Bane's right hand was empty.
Normally, Bane always wore a special wristband on his right or left hand, containing a sufficient dose of Venom.
A tube connected the wristband to his mask, allowing him to inject the drug into his body under his control, greatly enhancing his combat abilities.
But now, Bane wasn't wearing his equipment. Besides the dirty, ordinary clothes, he only had a plain rifle, looking extremely pathetic.
It seemed Bane's life on Santa Prisca Island wasn't easy. In contrast, the Cobra Cult, who were fighting Bane, looked much more glamorous. Robin could make a simple judgment based on this information alone.
While Robin observed, the battle continued. With the addition of the Young Justice League, the battle had changed.
Bane's gang and the Cobra Cult were mostly ordinary people. Although they had guns, these weapons were not enough against superhumans.
Aqualad drew Water Bearers, gathering moisture from the air. He controlled the water like pythons, sweeping towards the Cobra Cult's minions, clearing them out in no time.
Wonder Girl was even more direct. She blocked all the bullets with her bracelets and knocked down all of Bane's gang members with one punch each. In less than a minute, only Bane was left on the field.
Bane still had some tricks. Even without injecting Venom, he could still exchange blows with Wonder Girl, but the difference in strength was insurmountable. He was quickly defeated.
The Young Justice League swept through the battle like autumn leaves. Seeing the fight end, Robin, who had been watching, came out with a rope. It was interrogation time.
Because their team had two telepaths, it was most efficient to interrogate them separately. Robin had Aqualad wake up a Cobra Cult minion and Bane with water.
Of course, based on humanitarian principles, the Justice League required that even with telepaths present, a normal verbal inquiry must be conducted first, and special abilities could only be used as a last resort.
Robin naturally had to abide by this rule, so he symbolically asked Bane.
"Tell me, Bane, what exactly happened on Santa Prisca Island?"
"Oh, isn't this Batman's little bird?" Bane raised his wet head. "I thought it was a bunch of kids from somewhere. What, your boss doesn't want you anymore? You can only form your own team?"
"What are you? The Justice League?"
"We are the Young Justice League," Kid Flash couldn't stand Bane's provocation. "Saying we are kids, how did you get defeated by a bunch of kids?"
"Hahaha!" Bane laughed. Kid Flash's retort didn't break him. Compared to his decades in prison, Kid Flash's insults were like mosquito bites.
"Okay, losing is losing. I have nothing to say," Bane stopped laughing. "Speak. What do you want to know?"
"Everything on Santa Prisca Island," Robin said coldly. He didn't realize that in some ways, he was subconsciously imitating Batman.
"That's too long, kid. Batman wouldn't ask that," Bane grinned. "The Justice League wouldn't send you kids here for no reason. Obviously, they found out what I've been doing on Santa Prisca Island."
"So, the Venom factory has been exposed to the Justice League. A bunch of vultures you can't shake off."
Bane's insulting metaphor made the children with elders present frown. They had basically embarked on this path because of their admiration for their elders, so they couldn't tolerate their elders being insulted.
Robin took action first. He pulled out his batarang and stuck it in the tree behind Bane, saying coldly.
"It seems you don't know what you should say. We can only resort to extreme measures, Miss Martian."
Miss Martian closed her eyes, obviously using telepathy, but soon she frowned and opened her eyes.
"No, Bane's brain is full of irrelevant things. He is using methods such as reciting formulas and sports scores to evade my telepathy. It's impossible to get something from his brain without hurting him."
Bane showed a disdainful smile. As someone who could push Batman into a corner, he naturally had some skills. Telepathy was indeed useful, but the Justice League's moral standards were too high. It was a waste of talent for them.
"It seems you didn't learn the essence of the old bat, little bird," Bane mocked, and he also felt it was almost time.
Bane knew he was a prisoner, but even so, he couldn't sit still. Bane had lost many times in his life, but he knew that only the moment he gave up in his heart was the real loss.
So even in a disadvantaged position, Bane had to take the initiative. What he had done just now was to frustrate these children.
After his series of verbal attacks, the rhythm of these children had been disrupted. What Bane had to do now was to take the initiative, which would make it easier to continue doing things.
Just now, Bane had come up with a good idea. He wanted to use these kids to take back his factory, or at least to get his equipment back.
Just as Bane felt everything was moving forward according to his plan, he suddenly felt a tight feeling on his neck, and the next second the tight feeling turned into suffocation.
Robin and the others were even more shocked. They saw Harpy, who had disappeared for half a day, suddenly pop up and wrap her long tail around Bane's neck, hanging him up.
With his hands tied, Bane had no way to resist and could only kick his legs in the air like a grasshopper.
"What are you doing, O-Weapon!" Robin hurriedly reached out. "Let him down!"
Harpy listened and immediately put down Bane, who sat on the ground and took big breaths of air, looking like a fish lying on a chopping board.
