#890 - Love may not be born on the beach

The Young Justice League's first girls' gathering ended after Dick and Wally returned.

The two of them pushed a three-tiered cart, each level laden with food. The top layer held numerous sandwiches and a large bowl of vegetable salad, the second layer was filled with meats, including roast chicken and ribs. The third layer was filled with desserts and drinks.

This lavish feast was prepared entirely by Red Tornado, who had started preparing it while everyone was at the beach. He was just finishing up when Dick and Wally arrived.

However, that wasn't all. When everyone walked up to the cart, they noticed the two were also pulling a small cart behind them, which held a white box.

After the two explained, everyone learned that the box was a small refrigerator filled with vegetables and raw meat for the barbecue party that evening.

It turned out that the two thought it would be a shame to come to an island and not have a bonfire party, and what's a bonfire party without barbecue? So they turned down Red Tornado's dinner and decided to do it themselves.

This suggestion received unanimous praise from everyone present. It was hard to resist this kind of group activity.

With anticipation for the evening's barbecue party, the already delicious food became even more delectable, allowing the children to temporarily forget their worries.

During this lunch, which could have been glossed over, an interesting thing happened: Dick indeed launched an offensive towards Courtney, just as Harpie had overheard.

Of course, Dick's age was a factor. Although he was always around Gotham's playboy, Bruce was still a normal adult and would avoid certain topics around Dick.

Therefore, Dick was truly a blank slate when it came to pursuing girls, so his advances were limited to offering care and concern.

This low-level pursuit was too obvious, so Courtney immediately noticed the sudden change.

This made her somewhat embarrassed. Being pursued by someone else when she already had someone in mind was difficult for the young girl to handle.

After all, they were teammates, and Courtney was afraid that her refusal would disrupt the team's unity.

The girls who had just attended the girls' gathering, as well as Harpie, who had already realized this, thought the same thing.

Unlike the somewhat helpless girls, Harpie knew how to handle this. It was simple: he just had to reject Courtney.

Courtney was worried that her rejection would disrupt the team's harmony, but Harpie wasn't afraid of that because his death was imminent.

After all, he was just a clone responsible for scouting information and collecting genes. Now that the tasks were basically complete, the only thing missing was contact with the Illuminati.

Of course, such things were hard to come by. The last opportunity was lost, and who knew when the next one would be? If he encountered a good opportunity for sacrifice first, he might choose to sacrifice himself.

Anyway, he was going to sacrifice himself sooner or later, so he might as well shift the conflict onto himself. When he sacrificed everything for the greater good, all the conflicts would be gone.

Watching Courtney, who chose to escape to the restroom out of embarrassment, Harpie quietly cloaked himself and left the group unnoticed, silently following Courtney.

After watching Courtney actually enter the restroom, Harpie chose to wait outside. About a minute or two later, Courtney pushed the door open and walked out.

After leaving the restroom, Courtney didn't choose to go straight back. Instead, she walked towards the nearby beach. The beach next to the restroom was completely different from the one by the gazebo. That side was a golden sandy beach, while this side had many white boulders.

These boulders clearly weren't natural. Each one had been cut and placed neatly and regularly by the sea.

Courtney didn't seem to be in a hurry to go back. She skipped lightly, jumping from one boulder to another, and soon reached the sea.

A gentle sea breeze blew on her, lifting Courtney's golden hair.

It must be said that Courtney was indeed a beautiful girl, so he couldn't keep her hanging. That was something only a scumbag would do.

Afraid of scaring Courtney, Harpie deactivated his invisibility and deliberately made footsteps. In the seaside where only the sound of waves and rustling leaves could be heard, Courtney easily heard Harpie's footsteps.

Courtney turned around and was surprised to see Harpie.

After hearing the footsteps, she thought of many people, such as Dick, who might have a slight interest in her, or Megan or someone else who came to use the restroom, but she never thought it would be Harpie.

"Courtney, I have something to tell you."

"Huh?" Conner noticed something was wrong. "Where's Harpie?"

After Conner's reminder, everyone realized that besides Courtney who had gone to the restroom, there was one person missing.

"Oh, don't worry about him, maybe he went to the restroom," Wally said vaguely while devouring food. It was true that even food couldn't stop him from talking.

But the girls didn't think so, mainly because the simultaneous disappearance of the two was a bit unusual.

'Could it be that Harpie saw that Dick was also interested in Courtney and got anxious, so he went to confess to Courtney?'

Megan's youth romance dramas weren't watched in vain. She immediately thought of a possibility, of course, she only guessed half of it right.

Just as Megan wanted to help smooth things over and buy time for the two, a strange sound came from the nearby beach, and then two people walked out of the sea.

The two were a man and a woman. The boy had handsome features and black hair, wearing a black and blue bodysuit. The girl had a pretty face and coral-like beautiful red hair, wearing a yellow bodysuit with blue lines.

Everyone immediately became vigilant, except for one person, Aqualad Jackson.

“Garth! Tula!” Jackson bypassed everyone, walked to the two in a few steps, and enthusiastically pulled the two back to the Young Justice League.

“Guys, these are my friends from Atlantis that I mentioned to you, this is Garth, this is Tula.”

Jackson introduced the man and woman to everyone, and greeted each other under Aqualad's introduction.

"Strange?"

After everyone exchanged greetings, Troia asked: "Why hasn't Courtney come back yet?"

"Yes, it is indeed a bit worrying." Dick frowned. He was just about to speak again when Megan, who thought she had seen through everything, stopped him.

"Then let us girls go look for her. It's almost evening, you boys will have to work hard to bring the grill, fuel and other things to the beach."

Although it was obvious that the girls were stronger, everyone present had no objection to this proposal. They decided to split into three groups, the girls to check on Courtney and Harpie, and the boys to prepare the things for the bonfire party.

As for the third group…

"Jackson, you stay here and accompany your friends." Dick held down Jackson who wanted to get up. "We can't leave the guests alone, let us three do the work."

Jackson nodded upon hearing this. He really wanted to chat with Garth and Tula for a while, so he agreed to Dick's proposal.

After everyone left, Jackson immediately began to ask Garth and Tula about their well-being. The two were in class when he notified them before, and he didn't have a chance to talk to them much, so he had a lot to say.

Especially to Tula, Jackson showed an enthusiasm that he usually didn't show to this girl he had a crush on for a long time, but Tula, as the female lead, seemed a bit reluctant.

"Jackson." Tula seemed to have made up her mind.

"Huh?" Jackson looked at the girl's serious expression in astonishment. "Tell me, Tula, I'm listening."

Tula and Garth looked at each other, and then said: "After the party, we have something to tell you."

Practice proves that the seaside is not necessarily suitable for love.
