#901 - Psychological problems
Time flew by, and it was already the next day. During breakfast, most of the Young Justice team members still looked gloomy.
This was not unexpected by the adults. Although they underwent virtual training yesterday, it was created using Martian telepathy and the most advanced technology, making it almost indistinguishable from reality.
At least, mentally, they believed they had died once. Such an experience would be unbearable even for adults, let alone children. Fortunately, Martian Manhunter regained his senses quickly.
So, during breakfast, Black Canary began scheduling psychological therapy sessions for everyone.
There was no particular order; Black Canary simply arranged the therapy sessions according to the order in which the children had 'died' in the virtual training.
That is, Artemis, Haby, Jackson, Courtney, Conner, and Troy, in that order of 'death'. The remaining members, Dick, Wally, and Megan, could decide their own order.
Young Justice now has many members, a total of nine. This is a large project, and Black Canary didn't know if it could be completed in one day. She could only arrange the order first.
As it turned out, Black Canary's worries about time were unnecessary.
First up was Artemis. The female archer was very guarded, clearly harboring some unspoken secret.
When Black Canary mentioned this, Artemis, who had been quiet, immediately flared up. However, Black Canary didn't panic. In her opinion, this was the best proof that Artemis cared about the team.
The young woman did have some unspeakable secret chasing her, but it was clear that she always yearned for the light, and that was enough.
Black Canary's task now was simply to be a therapist. She didn't need to interrogate her like a criminal. Many people in the Justice League also had little secrets they couldn't share with others.
After talking for a while and confirming that Artemis was fine, Black Canary chose Wally as the ending point. Sure enough, mentioning that impulsive kid made Artemis quiet again.
Next was Haby. Even though he stated from the beginning that he had no problems, Black Canary still talked to him for ten minutes. After ten minutes, she agreed with his statement and sent Haby away.
This clone's heart was more resilient than she thought. Of course, this might not be what he wanted.
If Haby knew Black Canary's assessment of him, he would only shrug. He was so calm purely because he had seen too much. Besides, the death of a clone wasn't a real death, so there was no need to be afraid.
Next up was Jackson. This guy was the most mature person in Young Justice besides Haby. Chatting with him was indeed much easier.
With a little guidance, Jackson would proactively seek help. He didn't feel much about his 'death'; he only regretted not being able to contribute more to the team.
Jackson also felt that because he was eager to complete the mission during training, he chose to ignore Dick and act on his own, which was not conducive to unity. He was now a little ashamed to face Dick.
Black Canary didn't dwell on Jackson's entanglement. On the contrary, having watched the entire training record, she pointed out Dick's shortcomings, including his indecisiveness, and praised Jackson for doing the right thing in that situation.
"When the general is incompetent, the soldiers suffer. If Dick continues to hesitate, you are likely to be completely wiped out."
Black Canary's words shocked Jackson. He thought he would be criticized, but Black Canary's next words made him think deeply.
"Dick is indeed your leader, but in many cases, he has shown instability. In the absence of adults, you need to correct him."
Black Canary gave a gentle smile and said, "Maybe you haven't noticed, but Dick actually cares about your opinion, but you are too formal, so Dick often has to make decisions himself. I feel you should help him more often."
Jackson left the room deep in thought, but he didn't forget to thank Black Canary as he left.
Next up was Courtney, the girl in the team who was closest to being normal. Under Black Canary's guidance, Courtney expressed all the fears in her heart.
Initially, when she saw Artemis's 'death', Courtney's heart was filled with the fear of death. At this time, she fell into a slight state of self-isolation, but Wally attracted everyone's attention, so no one noticed her condition.
If this continued, Courtney was likely to collapse, but Haby's 'death' pulled Courtney out of that state.
Of course, this wasn't because Haby's death cheered Courtney up. On the contrary, although the former had rejected the latter's pursuit not long ago, Courtney always had a soft spot for him.
It's hard enough for adults to get over a broken heart, let alone children. After Haby died in front of her to protect everyone, Courtney had a slight tendency towards self-destruction, which prompted her to follow in Jackson's footsteps and get on the aircraft to act as bait.
In Black Canary's opinion, Courtney's psychological problem was neither big nor small. Her current situation was very similar to those soldiers suffering from PTSD, but fortunately, it was only an early symptom. With her guidance and a little time, she could be cured.
Next up was Conner, who Black Canary initially defined as a problem child, but the actual contact exceeded Black Canary's expectations, because Conner was much more stable than she thought.
When questioned, Conner mentioned Megan and Haby the most. He showed a desire for power and further admiration for Superman.
Black Canary immediately saw that this admiration was not due to Superman's noble character, but for his almost unmatched power, but fortunately, Conner only wanted power for one reason, and that was to protect the people around him.
Perhaps it was because love can change a person, Conner, who had gotten closer to Megan in the virtual world, had become much more stable.
When it came to Troy, this Amazonian warrior performed like Haby. She also had almost no problems, only feeling that her performance was too poor, disgracing her sister and the Amazons.
Black Canary immediately gave a treatment method. She encouraged Troy and called Diana. After receiving her sister's approval, Troy was as happy as a child, although she was only a few months old.
