#903 - Red Arrow Returns to Nest
Seeing the Joker's nonchalant attitude towards his threats, the Psycho-Pirate's patience reached its limit. He prepared to teach the Joker a lesson, to show this guy with no superpowers what respect is.
"Stop!"
A raspy voice came from behind the group. Turning around, they saw Deathstroke, fully armored, standing in the doorway.
It wasn't luck that Deathstroke arrived at the right moment; he had been monitoring everyone in the room from the adjacent room. After all, everyone in this room was a dangerous element and couldn't be taken lightly.
Besides the arguing Joker and Psycho-Pirate, the room also contained Poison Ivy, Atomic Skull, Ultra-Humanite, Count Vertigo, Wotan, and Black Adam.
Each of them was a well-known figure. Any one of them alone was a criminal that the Justice League would take seriously. Now, the Light had gathered all these people together.
Deathstroke's words clearly carried some weight. When he appeared, the Psycho-Pirate stopped moving against the Joker, but his expression showed that his anger hadn't subsided.
"Don't forget your agreement with the Light, Psycho-Pirate," Deathstroke reminded him. Only then did the Psycho-Pirate reluctantly lower his hands.
Although Deathstroke wasn't a leader, his impressive resume meant he understood a bit about everything. He knew the principle of following a slap with a carrot, so he immediately added,
"I've prepared new rooms for you. If anyone can't stand the Joker, you can follow me to the new rooms. Of course, that excludes you, Joker."
"That's not fair!" The Joker shouted as his 'companions' gradually walked out. Clearly, no one here could tolerate him.
"Not only am I the only one who was kidnapped, but I also have to suffer your isolation!"
"Settle down, Joker," Deathstroke's one eye revealed a hint of impatience. "Did you forget what I said before? You just need to cooperate with the Light to complete this plan."
"If you're not honest, someone will tell Batman about every bad thing you do in advance. You have to believe in the Light's intelligence network; we can do it."
"You want to ruin my jokes?" The Joker showed a terrified expression. "You're a scary group of people."
Deathstroke didn't continue to pay attention to the Joker. He knew this would only silence the lunatic for a while, but that was enough. After all, it would soon be their turn as bait to appear.
Yes, bait. Because of Cadmus Labs and Santa Prisca, the Justice League's wariness of the Light was increasing. At this time, throwing out a valuable enough bait was indeed a good delaying tactic.
Therefore, the Light offered generous conditions to gather this group of supervillains. Except for the Joker, everyone here wanted something, and the Light indeed had the capital to give them all what they wanted.
As long as they could complete the tasks assigned by the Light, the promised rewards would fall into everyone's hands.
Originally, there wasn't this unstable factor, the Joker, in this group, but he was the only criminal who could attract enough of Batman's attention, so the Light had to risk kidnapping him.
If an ordinary person was kidnapped like this, they might not agree to anything, but the Joker couldn't be judged by common sense. This guy smiled and joined the plan as if nothing had happened.
Whether it's a blessing or a curse.
Deathstroke glanced at the Joker before closing the door, finding the latter still with that smile, which gave this cold-blooded mercenary a chill.
And the instigator of all this just smiled and took out playing cards, playing solitaire as if he really didn't care about anything.
"Hehehehe..."
Provided you ignore his smile.
...
After a day of psychological treatment, plus a two-day rest, the Young Justice kids had recovered quite a bit, at least on the surface.
Maybe they didn't want to worry the adults, but by the third day, the kids seemed almost the same as usual. They would not only greet each other as usual, but also joke around occasionally.
As the leader, Dick even discussed with everyone whether to tell the adults that they had recovered and could take on missions again.
"I think we can," Wally was the first to raise his hand. "I'm going to be bored to death staying in this place all day."
"If you're bored, you can go to school," Artemis said, who was too poor to afford school and didn't have a clean identity.
As the child born from the union of two supervillains, Artemis's life wasn't good before joining the Justice League. Her mother's physical inconvenience and her irresponsible father made her live in poverty.
If it was just poverty, that would be fine, but her background was indeed a high wall that Artemis couldn't overcome as a child, so she envied those normal children.
"Then never mind?" Wally lay on the dining table like a puddle of mud. "I'd rather go on a mission than go to school."
A typical child's mentality: anything is fine as long as they don't have to go to school, even if Wally's grades aren't bad, he doesn't have much affection for school.

Seeing Wally wasting something she dreamed of, a burst of anger rose in Artemis's heart, but she also knew that she couldn't get angry at Wally no matter what.
After all, people have different experiences, which is why different views on the same thing occur. It's not Wally's fault; it's purely her own reason.
Remembering Wally's performance in the virtual training before, Artemis decided to endure it because she didn't want to get too involved with this silly boy, so she didn't say anything sarcastic and just snorted and turned her head away.
"Hmph!"
Wally raised his head and only had time to see a golden ponytail. He touched his head, wondering what he had done to offend her again.
"Visitor, code BO6, Speedy."
Hearing the voice broadcast, the kids turned their heads towards the direction of the passage. Roy Harper, Red Arrow, whom they hadn't seen for a long time, was standing there.
"Speedy is a thing of the past. I'm called Red Arrow now."
Roy corrected the AI's mistake before striding towards Young Justice.
"Roy!" Wally stood up from his chair in a flash and came to Roy's side.
"Long time no see, have you figured it out and want to come back?"
"It has been a while," A rare smile appeared on Roy's lips. "As for coming back, forget it. I'm back this time because I need your help."
