The Croesus' Bride [Completed]

Chapter 39:Extra: The Beginning

Lucca Giovanni's POV

My father, Lorenzo Giovanni, was one of the richest men in Rome but he was looking very worried right now as he was driving me toward the Conti's Mansion. I never heard of this family before as I was known for having a vivid memory and a genius in school.

"listen, Lucca, we were about to meet the richest family in the world. I wanted you to behave when we get there," he said as he was so focused on his driving. I nodded at him to show that I understand. I was curious to know about the Contis as my father was sweating in his seat. I looked at him curiously until the view of the mansion came into view. It was Gothic architecture with wide foyer and a fountain stood proudly with a maiden was pouring her vase where the water flows out.

Dad stopped in front of the intercom and said that he was an old friend of the master of the mansion. The gate opened up before he drove through and stopped in front of the foyer. The butler opened up the door and we went out. A woman in the late 30s greeted my dad and me.

"oh my, look at you. How have you grown!" The woman said to me as she tickled my nose. I looked at her because her violet eyes were enticing and were hard not to get drawn into it.

"ah, where are my manners. Come, let's get out of this heat," she said before ushered us into the living room. There was a man on the sofa and was talking to two boys. They were about the same age as me.

"Lucca, this is Marco and Kyle, say, hi boys," the woman instructed the boys to come to play with me as my dad greeted the man on the sofa. They were like an old best friend that just haven't seen each other for quite some time now.

"what's your name?" Kyle asked me.

"Lucca, Lucca Giovanni," I said as they were looking at each other before nodding as if they shared something that I don't know.

"You should go upstair, someone was eager to see you," they said as they urged me to go up the stairs. They showed the way until we reached a big oak door.

"open it," Marco urged me. When I did not move at all, they were pushing me through the door and locked me inside. I tried to open it but it's locked.

"help, help me. Somebody!" I screamed as I pounded on the door. I can hear footsteps faded in the hallway. Dammit, I thought before I looked around the room. It was vast with lots of shelves that have so many books, old and new, manuscripts, encyclopedia and many more. I was walking around the library before I found a figure that was sitting on the floor of the library.

"Hello?" I called out at it before I realized it was a girl. I went to look at her more clearly before I saw her uncanny violet eyes that were staring at me. What I did not know was that my soul has been ensnared by this girl.

"What are you thinking about?" Laura asked me as she rolled from her side of the bed and looked at me. I looked at her amethyst orbs before I kissed her.

"Nothing, just remember our first encounter," I said before Laura was looking at me confused.

"You mean, during the first family reunion that we had back in the mansion?" She said as she looked at me. I smiled and just nodded, leaving the memory just for me to remember about our first eye contact ever.

Kyle Conti's POV

"Sure, what are the things that I need to know?" I asked him.

"there was something odd in the business branch in Romania. It was mostly about tourism in the Transylvanian Alps. The account of finance there was not what it used to be," he said as he looked at me with seriousness. I nodded.

"I will check it out, besides I was long overdue for business travel into the mountains," I said happily as I was hoping to find some peace there.

"even so you are much more adventurous Mr. Kyle, may I suggest to you be careful in that part of the world. Our sources tell me that there was something strange that was going on," he said. I arched my eyebrow as I was intrigued by his talk.

"What kind?" I asked curiously.

"People have been sighting some figure, a female figure, lurking in the shadows and attacked the tourists that were coming into the Conti's lodges. The police said that it was an attack from animals but you know media, they cannot be trusted," he said as he put all together with the files for Carpathian mountain lodges. I wondered what that story really about.

"Anyway, I wanted you to…" I held up my hand before he continued.

"I would love to go this mysterious land that you're talking about," I said which gained a horror reaction from the lawyer.

"Mr. Kyle, you would not want to do that," he stammered as he was looking at me.

"and why is that?" I asked him as he dares to tell me what to do with my life.

"it would be advisable just to arrange all the business here in Rome. Those lodges, the investors think it would be best for us to sell it," he said before I turned sharply at him.

"what? No that was my father's first business abroad. I cannot let them sell it," I said as I stood up from my seat. The old man stood up as well.

"there was nothing to save there, Mr. Kyle. Please, it was for your good," he said.

"no, you don't tell me what is good and what is bad for me. Just give me one year to settle this, this mysterious thing, person, figure back in Romania," I said confidently. The old man was tortured to help me or go with the investors' suggestion.

"six months, that's it. The bidding will be held in December before Christmas. If you can figure out how to make the profits go up, we won't be selling it," he said. Six months was more than enough.

"thank you, sir," I said as I shook his hand went out of his office to get started on my new journey in life.

Alina Dalca's POV

Man, what a day. I have been working nonstop during the nightshift as it was the only time that I did not get sunburn from the sun. I can't wait for Fall and Winter. It was a shorter time during the day and a long time during the night. I don't have to worry much about the sunburn as the weather would be murky and cloudy all the time. Plus, the snow, that was a bonus.

"Bye, Maria," I said to my colleague as it was time for me to go home. The wind was breezing as I walked down the sidewalk from my workplace as I was walking toward my home as it was a few blocks away. I was walking by myself, which most people think it was not safe to go around in the dark as a woman alone. As I passed by the alleys, there were some wolf-whistling and some catcalling. I rolled at their attempts to get my attention. Humans, I thought as I was walking like minding my own business.

"hey gorgeous, care for a play?" A bulky guy said as I was being stopped by him. I sighed as I tried to turn back and his buddies were surrounding me.

"look, I don't want any trouble," I said. They all laughed at my attempt.

"this one tried to be civil with us," one of the guys said.

"come one, doll, show us your pussy," the other said. They all laughed as I rolled at their dirty jokes.

"you know, you should never attack a woman in the middle of the night. Who knows what creature they might be," I said as I tried to scare them off.

"It ain't the 19th century, sweetheart. The vampires are dead," the leader said as the other joined to laugh. I smirked at him before looking at him. My blue orbs were feeling weird as I can feel they were about to change.

"Are you sure? They said vampire lives among us in this modern era, and perhaps you will be lucky tonight to meet them," I said before I closed my eyes and I can feel it changed to glowing yellow. I opened it as the leader tried to touch me. I hissed at him before my fangs came out and all hell breaks loose.

they were all running as I broke their leader's neck. I looked behind and see the 3 goons were running. My vampire speed caught up to them and broke their neck until the lad that asked me to show my pussy. I back him up into an abandoned alley as I walked toward him.

"Please don't kill me, please, please. Please have mercy," he whispered with horror in his face.

"Now, who's want to see a pussy now," I said before punching my teeth into his neck and suck him dried. I left his body there before wiping off his blood from my mouth. It tastes bad since he was bad. I haven't fed on good blood for over a century now, but hey you gotta do what you gotta do to survive in this dystopian world. The siren from the police made me hide into the corner of the alley as I took a peek at the police that was examined the body. Dammit, he's there again. I need to get out of here before he can spot me. I ran normally toward my apartment block as I did hope they would not catch any evidence against me.

Until him.
