The Deep Sea Wizard of Hogwarts
Chapter 14: Do not let personal preferences affect your evaluation of events
She turned her head and Hermione could only spread her hands helplessly. Lavender Brown stood next to her.
Professor Snape walked in quickly. Jane had to roll her eyes at Lind and then sat upright.
"Gryffindor deducts 5 points. One of you is late." Snape said as he walked.
Like Professor Flitwick, Snape first picked up the list. When he read Lind, Snape glanced at him. Then he continued to call the roll.
This made him a little confused.
"Oh, yes," he whispered: "Harry Potter, this is our new one - a famous person."
The Draco Malfoy trio turned their heads to look at Harry, covering their mouths with their hands and chuckling.
After Snape finished calling the roll, he looked up at the whole class.
"You are here to learn the precise science and strict craft of potion making," he began, speaking in a voice barely above a whisper, but everyone heard every word he said. Like Professor McGonagall, Professor Snape also had the power of deterrence that could effortlessly keep the classroom in order.
"Since there is no foolish waving of wands here, many of you will not believe that this is magic. I don't expect you to truly appreciate the beauty of the simmering crucible with white smoke and bursts of fragrance, you will not really understand the magical power of the liquid flowing into people's veins, making people excited and confused... I can teach you how to improve your reputation, brew glory, and even prevent death - but there must be one thing, that is, you are not the kind of fools I often encounter."
After Snape finished his short opening speech, the whole class was silent. Harry and Ron raised their eyebrows and exchanged glances.
Lind also heard the creaking sound of a chair being moved behind him. It was Hermione. She couldn't wait to prove that she was not a fool.
As expected, Harry was suddenly called by Snape to answer a question.
"What can I get if I add narcissus root powder to wormwood infusion?"
Lind quickly turned his head to look in Harry's direction, and Snape also leaned towards Harry.
"Classic scene, it's a pity not to watch it." Lind thought in his heart, and the corners of his mouth rose involuntarily.
Hermione raised her hand high, but Snape didn't even look at it.
After Harry looked around in confusion, he found that no one could help him, and finally he could only stammer, "I don't know, sir."
"Tsk tsk tsk, it seems that fame can't represent everything." Snape said in a contemptuous tone.
"Let's try again. Potter, if I ask you to find me a piece of fecal stone, where would you find it?" Snape asked again.
Hermione tried her best to hold her hand high without leaving her seat, but Harry had no idea what a bezoar was. He tried not to look at Malfoy, Crabbe and Goyle, the three of them were shaking with laughter.
"I don't know, sir."
"I don't think you've ever read a book before the start of the semester, have you?"
"I..."
"No need to answer, your performance is the answer, Augustus, you're laughing so happily! What's wrong? Are you happy to see the famous Mr. Potter in trouble?"
Lind was stunned, and Hermione's raised hand loosened.
Anyone with a discerning eye could see that Snape was deliberately making things difficult for Harry, so what was Lind, a Gryffindor classmate, doing by laughing at Harry with the Slytherin guys at this time?
Lind could swear to heaven that although he did go there with a mentality of watching a show, he was not as "laughing happily" as Snape said!
Just now, everyone's attention was on Harry, and Snape's words directly made many people equate his "laugh" with the ridicule of Malfoy and others.
Lind stood up, "Professor Snape, I didn't laugh at Harry, I just thought of some fun things."
"What fun things? Maybe you can share them with everyone." Snape stared at him.
"Well! I dreamed that I became a handsome knight riding a horse in the middle of the Black Lake."
Lind made up a mess of things at random. Anyway, it was a dream, so it didn't matter how you said it. Snape's face twitched.
Hearing this, he was actually quite relieved. Only children in a warm family environment could have such a dream! After all, he himself would not be like Lind when he was a child...
"Do you think this is humorous? Augustus." Snape's face darkened again.
"I think it's quite interesting..." Linde replied indifferently.
"Enough, answer the question just now!" Snape shouted.
"Daffodil root powder and wormwood can be combined to make a very effective sleeping pill, which is a dose of life and death water.
Faecal stone is a kind of stone taken from the stomach of goats, which has a strong detoxification effect." Linde said the answer directly in one breath.
Hearing Linde's words, Snape's face looked better.
"It seems that you have read books, which is much better than some guys who are only famous." Snape said lightly, and then returned to the podium.
Then, Snape asked them to prepare a simple potion to treat boils.
Until the end of the get out of class, Seamus and Neville's combination unexpectedly prepared a high-damage blasting potion, and Gryffindor was also deducted points for their excellent performance.
Snape stayed at Harry and Lind's desk the longest.
Until the class was over peacefully, Lind and his roommates walked out of the classroom.
"Huh! The week's class is finally over, how about we go back and play wizard chess?" Belliver still didn't give up trying to get Lind into the wizard chess pit.
Lind thought about it and nodded in agreement. It's really time to have some entertainment activities besides reading.
————————
"I feel that Snape is targeting Lind and Harry." Jane said to Hermione.
"No way, as a teacher, how could he target two young wizards for no reason? If you say he hates Gryffindor, I can accept it a little bit."
"No, you didn't see it before. I was next to Lind and I saw it clearly. When Snape asked Harry questions, Lind didn't smile at all. At most, the corners of his mouth were slightly raised.
And he kept staring at Lind when he was preparing the potion just now. He was just looking for an opportunity to deduct his points. I think it might be that Lind answered his questions very easily just now, which made him feel uncomfortable." Jane told Hermione everything she saw in class just now.
"But he didn't really deduct Lind's points. What you said is just your own guess. By the way, didn't you hate him very much before? Why are you speaking for him now?" Hermione suddenly changed the subject and looked at Jane with a teasing look on her face.
Jane didn't care about Hermione's funny tone at all, and raised her head openly.
"I'm just stating the facts. Snape was targeting them just now. Although I hate him, I won't let my personal preferences affect my evaluation of this matter.
Just like my grandmother told me, when evaluating wizards in history, you can't use your own preferences to evaluate him, because this will never lead to objective results."
"Just like when we talk about Salazar Slytherin?" Hermione asked.
"Yes, although Salazar rejected Muggles, that was in the social environment at the time..."
Then, the topic of the two little witches turned into a discussion of the history of magic, and then extended to the founding of Hogwarts and so on.
