The Demon Child - Awakening

When the sky started to rain blood, I ran out of strength and blacked out. Unlike other times, I didn't wake up in Antrite or had some sort of weird dream, instead, it was just darkness again. I woke up with bandages with Jododam and Sashal laying on either side. Before they could notice, I asked a question.

"Is Adlif dead?" I asked them.

Jododam snickered "Yes, quite a hard opponent, I wouldn't have been able to handle him at your age, which is no small feat I tell you,"

"Thank the Ancient Bloods that you survived, and thank you for the blood rain, but you were still conscious when you sacrificed him," Sashal asked me.

"I might've been hallucinating,"

"Anyhow, you've won, I'll be taking my leave for now."

Sashal decided to leave the room leaving me with Jododam. I'm not sure why, but I had a hunch that Jododam is about to tell me something. Not surprisingly, my hunch was right.

"Dyestral, I have to tell you something," Jododam said.

"And what is that?"

"First of all, did you fight with all your abilities?"

"No, but I was close to death, you saw that didn't you,"

"Listen Dyestral, it's about Adlif, or his body if you would,"

"What do you mean Jododam?"

"His, body, it's like your human body in Antrite, artificially made,"

"I have no idea what you mean?" I said. "What does the word artificial mean?"

"Man-made, or so to speak, it was grown in tubes, not from a mother,"

"That's not that much of a surprise, so why are you telling me this,"

"Those artificially made bodies we put into categories, going up by numbers,"

"So what's my category?"

"Category two, the memories and abilities of the soul were transferred to a different host, and so we placed a curse on them, if the current host died, it would transfer to a different host, but you don't have that curse anymore Dyestral, as the strength of the user would break it,"

"So what's category three?"

"It's what Adlif was, unlike you, we were able to 'cleanse' his soul,"

"Define 'Cleanse'"

"An ancient general, his source was the gravity you experienced, but his soul ability was unknown. Pretty much, we found a way to create powerful soldiers without having to wait twenty years, by creating a new body for powerful souls,"

"So Adlif did have no memories of his past life, but he had some abilities from his past life,"

"Yes, in fact, everyone in your project is all classified as category two,"

"I had a hunch from that information." I looked to my right.

"But here's the question Dyestral, I want to put you into another category,"

"Why?"

"You see, the king has ordered a failsafe that if the project: enhancement were to fail, everyone who was a category two artificial human would have to die,"

"So what category would you make me?"

"I call is category zero," Jododam paused. "It's is that of a category which's body and soul possess extreme abilities, higher than expectations and can be from any category, present or future,"

"I'm fine with you putting me in category zero,"

I summoned my three chains on my back and used them to pick me up and out of the bed. Even Jododam clapped, and I just looked at him with a blank stare.

"I guess that Sashal is also a category three artificial human, and you also want to put her in category zero?" I questioned Jododam.

"Well done, you are correct, and I have to tell you something,"

"What is it?"

"That fight with Adlif and you were planned, to see how a category two would do against a category three artificial,"

"So?"

"So that means that they are on par with each other,"

"If you think I'm mad with that, I'm not, I just have two more questions,"

"And what is that Dyestral?"

"What is category one?" I asked Jododam.

"It's simple, it was just a body with no soul, it had no source, it's intelligence was low as well as it's physical abilities,"

"Why Sashal?"

"No, Sashal is under the same circ.u.mstances, but something else is there as well, instead of being born a teenager, she was born a baby, we call her category, category four, but she is becoming a zero like yourself,"

"I see, thank you Jododam,"

"You're welcome Dyestral, but now I think it's time for you to go home,"

"I agree."

Although I was weakened, I could still stand up. Jododam and I started to walk to our carriage for a short time before arriving. As we got into the carriage, I looked outside my window to see that Sashal was waving, so I waved back. Jododam saw this and chuckled, I noticed and asked him what was so funny.

"You see Dyestral, your school semester which you missed the most of is coming to an end, so you'll be returning to a familiar place to help out some of your students,"

"And what is that place, Onsice the capital?" I sarcastically replied.

"No, no, it's your hometown Daishin."
